  • I agree with chef- please be kind to yourself. You created life. That's no small task! And it took 9 months to put that weight on, it'll take at least that long for it to come off. With that in mind, though- as a mom myself who formula fed my oldest, do your best to track everything you eat and try and use a food scale if…
  • I also highly recommend Fitness Blender workouts- they are all completely free. However you can also pay $10 for a structured workout plan using their free videos. This was a lifesaver for me as a mom of an almost one-year-old.
  • Let's see if this works...
  • Hi-- Just joining here, I am a beginner/novice runner, my goal this month is 50 miles. I have done many 5k's in the past, and am currently training for a 10 mile run the last weekend in April/1st week of May. Glad I found this group!
  • Training for a 10 mile run on May 1st, always looking for friends. I'm also on FitBit.
  • I would say to run every other day.. I am training for a 10 mile race right now, and I run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are my long runs. So I do light or low impact workouts on Sundays and Tuesdays, and Friday I relax :)
  • PS- great progress!!
  • You really want to rest a bit in between runs to prevent injury. Speaking from experience, it's really easy to develop an overuse injury in your knee, ankle, etc if you don't allow your body to recover between runs. However, you could still do a half hour to an hour of walking and stretching on the days you don't run just…
  • I signed up initially with Determinators but wound up getting picked in the lottery. however they emailed me the training plan so I've been referring to it! See you there with the other 10,000 runners! haha
  • Thank you. I love my FitBit Charge HR, thanks for the advice :)
  • This is super encouraging, thanks for sharing!
  • Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the encouragement. I wound up doing 2.25 miles on Saturday and probably could have gone a little longer but didn't want to push it. I started thinking about all kinds of overuse injuries I could sustain if I try to go too hard. I'm upping it to 3 miles per run this week and Saturday…
  • ah, this is GREAT! Thank you for sharing!! Hey, even if I am the last person, at least I won't be on my couch on a netflix binge! ;-)
  • Thank you!!
  • The training plan is relatively similar to what you suggest, but emphasizes more cross/strength training. it suggests Running Monday, Wednesday and a long run on Saturdays. Cross training on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I'll definitely add another day to my plan. I'm okay with walking a bit of it, I'm not out to hurt…
  • Love this! My NSG's this month are: 1. 5 Full Push-Ups 2. 10 minute mile 3. Forgive myself for inevitable over-indulgences over Christmas.
  • I did okay on thanksgiving! I ran a 5k that morning so I didn't feel as guilty about pumpkin waffles for breakfast, or my big plate of turkey/stuffing/potatoes and gravy on everythingggg. Plus about 4 glasses of wine (thanks to my husband for driving!). I avoided snacks and had one slice of pie for dessert. The next day…

  • Today I am grateful that I have such loving, wonderful, supportive people in my life. They are a reminder to be the best version of myself that I can be each day.

  • I LOVE this soup when it starts to get cold out. I lessen the amount of oil from 2tbsp to 1 tbsp and I also try to use 1% or 2% milk. http://www.closetcooking.com/2012/02/roasted-cauliflower-and-aged-white.html SO, so good. Roasting the cauliflower before adding to the soup gives it so much depth!!
  • I'm on my computer so I can't screenshot, but "Peanut Butter Jelly" by Galantis is my current favorite! It's upbeat and happy and techno. Perfection!
  • Same here- planning on portion control and enjoying time with family! I'll likely avoid the room with all the snacks before dinner so I'm not tempted, and I'll be sure to take my time eating and pause to talk to people around me so I don't shovel my first plate in 30 seconds and immediately go back for more. I'm usually…
  • So.... you're 4 weeks into your progress and you were successful for 3 of those weeks- that's a 75% success rate. That's AMAZING, and it's really difficult. Be proud of the changes you've been able to make, and strive for progress, not perfection. You're only human. You can do this.
  • I do flavored vodka and club soda. It's definitely not as sweet as you'll be used to but still really good. Sometimes I'll ask for a little splash of juice in there too - so you could do orange vodka, club soda with a splash of pineapple juice.
