  • I agree it's probably mostly water weight. However, your stomach has also probably shrunk a little bit or at least is used to less food. I used an illness 2 years ago to start my weight loss journey. When I did feel better, I wasn't so hungry, so I ate lighter for several days and tried making good choices. I think I…
  • 1700 is likely not enough. I'm 5'7" and 50 years old. I log about 10-12,000 steps a day and I maintain on 2000-2100 calories a day. I try to maintain 135 +/- 3 lbs, so 132-138. I do weigh daily and use a weight trending app, so that I can see that one high or low day is not really indicative. It helps my peace of mind a…
  • I "only" lost about 35 pounds, so you would think the disconnect would be less (and it probably is LESS), but it's still there. I look at clothes and think, that can't possibly fit me. And then it does or it is still too big! And I've been at maintenance, more or less, for almost 18 months now. Still getting used to it.
  • 10,000 steps is generally more than lightly active. I have my settings at lightly active and I usually start getting extra calories from my Fitbit around 5000 steps.
  • @CMNVA , I'm very similar to you, 50 and maintaining around 135. I walk about 30 min a day for exercise , getting 10-12,000 steps most day in total. I am doing rather lazy logging these days, but found that I can generally eat 2,000-2200 calories a day and maintain. Surprised the heck out of me, but when I first started…
  • You can change Fitbit to auto recognize exercise at 10 minutes. But it should be picking up steps and using them to calculate your calories out even without any recognized active minutes. I find that I get more calories from days that I am busy and on my feet a lot than I do from days with a brisk exercise walk but also…
  • I wish mine would! It's been over a month since the vibration has notified me I've reached my goal. I've checked that my goal is still the same and that the vibration works for other things (alarm and phone calls). I have a charge HR.
  • This seems off somehow. I'm also 5'7", female, but 50 (so 20 years older). I maintain around 2000 or a bit more. Mostly my exercise consists of a brisk walk of 30-45 minutes (2-3 miles) a day. It's the walk included, I tend to hit 10-12,000 steps a day. Maybe try adding a bit more overall movement to your day? Can you walk…
  • You can make (or buy) a rice pack that you can heat up in the microwave. I made one for my mom and she loves to sit on it to keep warm. Also good for when you have a sore muscle.
  • I had this issue as well. I finally ended up setting my account to gain 1/2 pound a week because I really didn't like the red. And because I really had lost more than I wanted to and wanted to gain some back. I think I spent about 6 months or more with my goal being to gain. And I have finally gotten back into the range I…
  • 20-30 minutes walking plus housework is likely not sedentary. I have mine set to lightly active and I have a Fitbit (with negative calories on). I usually start earning extra calories just from normal stuff around the house (small bits of housework, laundry, fixing meals) even before I go and take a walk. My 30-40 minute…
  • You could count yourself as sedentary only if you then add in your walk as exercise. Otherwise you are at least lightly active, more likely moderately active.
  • Get a digital scale and start weighing your food. Log it and see what the calorie amounts are. You may find that some things that you thought were healthy are actually rather full of calories (I certainly did). Healthy doesn't have to be expensive. Frozen veggies are cheap and quick to prepare. Walking is good for…
  • I think I read somewhere that they are planning to add more. I would hope they would do so soon, as I'm on the 2nd time through them. I like them but find that the gem things don't always seem to show up. First time through the last adventure (Pohono Trail), I think I didn't find any gems the first day. I'm almost at the…
  • I checked once on my walk yesterday and found a gem, but it said I had until midnight to collect. I didn't try waiting though. I've been checking regularly and have seen and collected a bunch of gems. I guess I won't know if I've missed any until I'm done though. Once I finish this second adventure today, I think I will…
  • I agree. My walk this morning was 3 miles and I evidently got one notification of "something interesting " which was probably a gem. I do have cell service, but I can't be checking my phone every few minutes. Annoying!
  • So, I just completed the first adventure and it shows I got 2 gems. It says "next time collect the gems before they expire" so you can finish with a complete set. Does anyone know how to know when you've got a gem to collect or how long before they expire?
  • Thanks! I just set this up to start. Looks like fun.
  • I charge mine every day when I shower, since I have to take it off then anyway. Then every 10-15 days, I give it a bit longer charge, maybe an extra half hour. This way, I never get a low battery warning.
  • My suggestion is to go ahead and get a food scale now, so that you can get a better feel for portion sizes now. Now to be dieting now, but because once the baby comes, you will be busy and tired. Right now you can just get a feel for how much you are eating and see which things seem like way too many calories for how much…
  • I went on vacation to China for 2.5 weeks and came back having lost weight without trying or even really wanting to. I didn't even try to log since a good bit of the time I really wasn't sure exactly what I was eating (menus were not necessarily translated or not well). I was lightly active the first half of vacation and…
  • If you are worried about both gaining and losing in maintenance, might I suggest losing only down to the middle of your range. Then slowly upping your calories. Good luck!
  • I found I could log even without Internet, but only foods that were in my recents perhaps? I think I was also able to use the bar code reader without Internet. We had very spotty wifi on our vacation last summer, but I managed to keep logging (it was fairly early in my weight loss and I didn't want to lose momentum).
  • I would start by eating all your Fitbit calories OR switching to maintenance and not always eating back all your calories. It sounds like if you are a little worried about adding back calories, that you are likely to continue to lose. That's what happened to me. I had heard so much about regaining that I went to the bottom…
  • Congrats! Have you found it relatively easy or sometimes a struggle or ?
  • Yes, I noticed this as well. So, my afternoon snack category is now listed after my dinner, instead of before. It's out of time order, but it works for me.
  • Sounds like you will lose it again quickly. Remember that some of that weight may be water weight from extra salt or travel. Good luck!
  • When this appeared, mine was preset to only 9 hours, I increased it to 10 because I know I'm pretty much always getting those steps from 5-6 pm fixing dinner. My goal for myself is at least 9 hours, but I agree. I would really like to be able to set my own goal, just like we can for steps.
  • I can't really help with what you want your final weight to be, but I would definitely suggest slowing down the loss and eating more. For *me* I found it easier to set to maintain and then maybe eat back exercise calories or not, because then I know how many minimum calories I've got to work with. I think increase to…
