Strict pull ups! From barely able to do bent over rows to doing 5 sets of 2 strict pull ups. Next goal: sets of 3. My mile time is down from 14+ mins to single digit mins.

My advice is to not make timelines (6 mos.) for goals as we cannot control exactly when pounds drop. It is not linear. These sorts of goals have made me crazy. For example, if I met the goal but was a week or two "late" I would feel as if I failed which is silly of course. However, it opens up an opportunity for…

Yes, it decreased fairly quickly and disappeared even when I was still obese as a result of heavy lifting. In a previous attempt at weight loss with only cardio I kept shrinking overall and the cellulite stayed.

My only beef is people who complain about dropping weights or grunting. I realize this is probably ignorance about weightlifting so I go to a lifting gym. Problem solved.

I've been happy (and sad) at all of my weights. Weight loss isn't a magical bullet that fixes the non-weight related bad things in your life. It wont fix problems with your boss, coworkers, family, finances, etc. It has however increased my confidence which helps in dealing with the non-weight related problems. Being fit…

So close you can taste it. Congratulations!

Fabulous!!!! I've been doing Crossfit as well and it has been tremendous. Hope to join you soon at goal. About 15 or so pounds to go.

I second the magnesium recommendation. I had a quite low vitamin D level and was on mega doses to raise levels. Levels did rise but some of the muscle soreness did not go away. Magnesium helped get rid of the muscle soreness that was still lasting far too long after a workout. Now I will feel it the next day or two (if I…

Well, you weeded out one that is not a good match for you. Sounds like your torso's naked appearance may not be the real reason he said no thanks. Although many would be thrilled if they did, clothes do not hide body shape/weight all that much, so it shouldn't have been a huge surprise to him how you looked without any.…

This is medically approved bulemia that doesn't address the underlying issues, so the person never "heals" becoming a constant revenue stream for replacement parts, food manufacturers, and pharmaceuticals to address any medical issues caused as a side effect of this medical "treatment."

If you are a man, i find compression shorts by themselves to be too revealing for public. If you are a woman, compression shorts alone are ok so long as the fabric is thick enough that it leaves the specifics of your front bits to the imagination.

As someone who has taken this journey twice, once with some cardio and diet and once with strength training, cardio, and diet, I vote strength training. It is intimidating at first, but stick it out. The payoff is so worth it. It will preserve lean muscle as you lose. Compared to the previous cardio & diet time, I am a…

That's a lot to find out at once. Its a trial and error learning process. Dont expect to feel better immediately but in a month or two the difference will be impressive. As someone else said, dairy can be an issue for some celiacs and also oats even certified oats so listen to your body. I'd recommend avoiding direct…

Hi there. I had very similar height, weight, calorie intake, and vitamin D stats. I have been on supplements for 5 months. I notice less fatigue during the day, less interrupted sleep at night, better muscle coordination during exercise and better recovery. Edited to add that menstrual cycle became more regular as well. I…

I was heating my lunch and a co-worker stopped me and asked to see what I was eating. She then said, "oh you eat vegetables. No wonder you are thinning out. I don't like vegetables so I cant lose weight." I was rendered speechless. Then a second co-worker joined the conversation. Co-worker 2: "yeah I can't do that either.…

Oxide could give you the trots at higher amounts. Citrate or malate or chelated is less likely to do so. There is no harm in taking the recommended daily amount. I take it daily to help with muscle soreness from exercise. Epsom salt bath is good too if you have a bath tub. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/minerals/magnesium

A-mazing!

Holy moly!!! You lost 20 years.

What motivates me for fitness is choosing measurable activities. I really enjoy lifting and it is naturally motivating as the numbers go up. The same goes for more running distance covered in a certain amount of time or an increase in max squats per minute. You get the idea! As far as food, pre-making meals and lunches…

So I was using an abmat. I placed the thinner side towards my bum. Should I have used the fat side? Usually there is a slightly rubberized floor but I ended up on wood underneath the mat so maybe that didnt help? My sweaty self was sliding a bit easily on the smooth wood. Im going to get some glide. Thanks for your help.

I love Daryl and Carol has become awesome as well. This will be fun! Go team! Goals: 1) Pull up progressions 3x week. 2) Gym 4x week. 3) No chips even if it fits in calorie goal. About me: female, 40s, gluten free, dairy free, exercising regularly to improve health 10 months ago, began watching calories/macros in May,…
