Last leg of weightloss

So my goal for weightloss is to lose a total of 100 lbs. I have lost 55 lbs. so far and I'm just looking for some advice on losing the last half. I have reduced my caloric intake to an average of 1200 calories a day and I'm just kinda stuck. It may seem a bit drastic but I'm looking to lose this last 45 lbs in the next 6 months. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can't lose weight faster than your body allows. 45 pounds in six months - when that's all you have to lose (as in, your goal weight is within the normal BMI range) - is a pretty ambitious, and most likely not going to happen. (What's important is what happens if you don't reach that goal, though.) I would advice that you focus on your behavior instead - set your intake to a number that provides a deficit, but also one you can easily stick to for as long as you have to, and then do your best to stick to that.11

If you have been successful, I would just say keep doing what you are doing. MFP will automatically adjust your daily calories as your weight changes or you exercise.1

My advice is to not make timelines (6 mos.) for goals as we cannot control exactly when pounds drop. It is not linear. These sorts of goals have made me crazy. For example, if I met the goal but was a week or two "late" I would feel as if I failed which is silly of course. However, it opens up an opportunity for frustration.
I am 3 pounds from normal and would like to loose a bit more to get rid of squishy bits. It has taken me a long time (1 3/4 years) to drop ~ 70 lbs. What worked for me was taking two week maintenance breaks along the way. Dieting is a stress and taking that time to still track but eat a bit more served to renew my enthusiasm and ability to stick to deficit after the two weeks. It is good practice for when it is time to maintain.
Good luck and congrats on your progress.4 -
My advice is to adjust your expectations.
Weight loss isn't linear. I'm looking to lose the last of 100 pounds too. I started 2 years ago in November.
I lost 70 pounds the first year.
I lost 24 pounds last year, taking quite a few maintenance breaks to concentrate on running and becoming a better runner.
I lost a lot of ground due to a food item that I was eating every day and using bad data to log (to the tune of 200 calories a day!).
I struggled with over-restricting trying to get the last 10 pounds off which led to binge eating and working my way out of that cycle.
I'm finally back to where I was and eating normally again and able to moderate foods again, but it's early days in that endeavor.
Sooooo.... to quote an old song "the road is long, with many a winding turn"
As I said, adjust your expectations.
I have six (maybe I might go lower to have a buffer) more pounds to lose to get to that 100 pound milestone. I anticipate it will take months, because I plan to take maintenance breaks and I am on a very small deficit.3 -
@GottaBurnEmAll can I ask what food item did you log incorrectly? I'm wondering if I'm making similar mistake0

Popcorn. Don't use labels. Look up USDA information and use that. You'd think I wouldn't fall into that trap, but I did.0
