I totally get that about special foods. I only worry about keto when I can do it (about 90-95% of the time). If keto can isn’t available, then I use intuition on what is my healthiest route. I’ve been doing the 18-6 IF for maybe 6-8 months, I started at a 12-12, then 14-10 to 16-8. I’ve been doing IF for about 4 years, I’m not always 100% perfect on my timing but I like to make exceptions for family and holidays.
