I'm noticing this happening a lot too.

I think they go hand in hand. If I'm on track with exercise and diet, I feel better about myself and that strengthens my mental health. On the other hand, if something impacts mental health, say work issues, that definitely impacts my desire at times to work out, or maybe I might want to go off diet for comfort food…

I also have known dinner options that are filling but have fewer calories (chicken or pork loin). If lunch was truly bad and I don't think I'll really be that hungry come dinner, I might go without or just have a protein shake, I won't have dinner simply because it's dinner time.

It's very easy for my mind to keep me awake. My solution is listening to sports radio podcasts while I'm falling asleep. Mindless enough to not make me think but enough to distract me from thinking. Granted it helps that I'm a sports fan 😜

Yes on this. I've bought both my Fitbits used off ebay. They keep releasing new models so the older models tend to be pretty cheap.

It may not even be fueling. Plenty of people do fasted cardio fine. It may simply be needing to work you way up to that level of activity. Im assuming from your post that 8k steps by early morning isn't normal for you.

Also, don't think of lifting JUST in terms of building muscle. Lifting, especially the deadlift, forced me to learn a better mind muscle connection, activating more muscles. That translated into running by distributing the load because I was a very quad dominant runner.

Repacking weights is a big one in a busy gym because it's how everyone tells the equipment is free and unused as opposed to "I stepped away to the water fountain or something".
-
Clean and press lifters who drop their weight from the top of their lift, bar and weights overhead. Everyone always gives each other the same "did they really need to create that much of a racket" look.

Well, there is the one guaranteed precise method to determine body fat, but you can only do it once, an autopsy. 😜
-
Not when you look at it in terms of recommendations such as "no more than 1% per week". OP is 300+ lbs.
-
The first time I lost significant weight, I was 225 and lost 2.5 per week for about 3-4 months. Looking back, I regret that speed of weight loss, due to the amount of lean mass loss that resulted. And now I have to build it back up, which is a lot harder than losing it. If I were to do it over, I'd lose more slowly (and…

I havent cut it out completely, but I have swapped out larger cans or 20 oz bottles for the tiny 8 oz cans.
-
Making it long term. If I were to do it over again, I would lose a lot slower. I lost about 10 lbs per month for about 4-5 months and lost lean mass right along with the fat. So now I'm having to do the slow work to build back up the muscle to get the build I really wanted. And I wish I had done resistance training…

CNS = Central Nervous System

I agree with the idea of staying roughly around maintenance, accepting the fact that your guesstimates are probably going to be a little less accurate than at home. Also keep in mind this will result in some water weight gain that may take a few days to go back to normal once back in a deficit.
-
At least some of it is a result of neuromuscular adaptation, which happens initially. Basically, your nervous system is learning to more thoroughly engage your muscle fibers when performing a lift.

I still drink soda (it's a vice I struggle with) but in my mind, a serving is a serving no matter what size it is. So instead of drinking a 20oz bottle or 12 oz can, I started buying the little 8.5 oz cans. I also like it cold (pure, no ice) so I only keep one can at a time in the fridge. A little thing but it has reduced…

An average guy who is a beginner can gain up to 1-2 lbs of muscle in a month, depending on various factors. Keep in mind that visually there are two methods for better visualization of muscles: from more muscle or lose the fact that covers it. If you want objective progress you can measure, I think tracking the amount you…

Was watching a discussion that insurance companies should be able to charge more for those that are not vaxxed. Isn't this similar, if not identical, to the question on obesity? By and large, both are the results of personal choices (yes there are outliers).

Also where a DEXA scan can provide some precision since it will identify where the fat is more specifically.
-
To be fair, he didn't say 1g/lb was unmanageable, just that it was an unnecessarily high amount.
-
I suppose it depends on the area. We all know there are areas of the body that are stubborn. When you think in terms of how much overall fat loss you need before losing 1 lb of it in a specific area?
-
I basically feel the same way. I got vaxxed sooner after I was eligible and I think I a private business wants to establish rules for entering their business, no problem. But I don't agree with government imposition of those rules.
-
I would say that what is more important for building muscle than WHEN you ingest your protein is how MUCH protein you take in during a day. I shoot for around .9 grams per lb of body weighr
-
I would think the foam rolling would be better after lifts not before. Not that I'm an expert 😜

Plenty of people accidentally hit the buttons without even knowing it, and if like me, probably the disagree esp since I scroll with my right thumb and could easily hit it.

Now I think the opposite to some degree when it comes to dense urban environments. I live in downtown Chicago and the short distances encourage walking or biking for everyday stuff as opposed to getting in a car. And I kinda think your day to day burn is more important than one off deliberate exercise.
-
Everything I've read suggests the optimal volume leaves you with one, maybe two, reps in the tank on each set. Granted, it can be tough to tell when your body really only has one and not four.

I think like an engineer, and I believe in CICO. So the idea of a direct relationship between anti depressents and weight gain to me means the former directly causes the latter and I see that as a faulty premise. Now that doesn't mean the medication might not have a direct impact on the CI or CO aspects, some medications…
