Shorting exercise calories on intense cardio days
I tend to do best when I stick with a routine and constantly reinforce my habits. I have a pretty steady calorie burn and eat roughly 2100 calories on an average day (trying to lose .5 lbs/week) and I'm dialing in the calories pretty well, not quite there yet. My question comes in when I have a more intense cardio day (a…

We're not responsible for being obese?
http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/27/opinions/life-expectancy-corporations-opinion-sachs/index.html Just read this article on CNN and it really infuriated me. I think the line that was the toughest to stomach was "While the obesity and opioid epidemics are sometimes written off as "bad life choices," these epidemics are largely…

Recomposition slow?
I lost 70 lbs and overshot my goal weight (finished at 157), started eating more and got up to 165 (my long term goal weight). I'm been lifting via Stronglifts since September, though as a complete noob. I got a DEXA scan in Dec showing 20.4% BF. Just got another one today (so 4 months later) showing 20.1%. Between those 2…

Stronglifts & calorie surplus
I lost 70 lbs and did not do any strength training during that loss. Now I'm working to gain lean mass by doing Stronglifts (3 months in) and I started from the very beginning (empty bar). My question is since stronglifts is more about strength than hypertrophy (which I'm OK with, I want that strength base), does it make…

Calorie minimums?
I am near the end of tri season and will be going on a clean bulk soon. I'm trying to figure out how many calories I will need. MFP says about 2050 to maintain, but I see people on here talking about bulking on 3000+ calories. I'm 6' and 160 so my MFP maintenance count can't be that far off from these high calorie people.…

Eat more or readjust goal weight?
I set for myself a target weight of 165 and reached it a month ago. Since then, I'm still losing a bit and I've gone under my +- 2 lbs range, partly because I struggle to keep my calories up with my triathlon training (which will go down in 2 months in favor of a focus on weight training). Since my target weight was…

DEXA Scan Shock
Over the past 5 1/2 months, I've lost about 50 lbs. My scale showed a BF drop from 28% down to 19%. I know that bio-impedance is not an ideal method of measuring BF% so I decided to get a DEXA scan to get a more accurate reading, expecting to hear something around 20-25%. Imagine my shock when the result was 31.7%! I…

Why is losing lots of weight bad?
I've seen comments on here that suggest limiting the amount of weight you try to lose within a given period of time, say 2 lbs per week, and to eat more if you exceed that. I never understood why. I've lost about 10 lbs per month over the past 3 months (from 227 down to 196). I set my goal to 1.5 lbs in MFP and didn't eat…
