Hello, are you still looking for a buddy? I'm 26/F/5'6", my starting weight was 170 and I'm just about 150lbs now! My goal weight is 125 and I'm looking to lose about 1 lb a week (slow and steady) through healthier eating and adding exercise to my everyday routine!

Hi! As you've started to lift weights, have you been drinking or eating any types of protein products that might be whey-based? I struggle with acne too and I find that dairy products can make it worse. I switched over to a vegan protein shake and it helped me. Edit: Also, make sure you wash your face (or even shower!)…

I hate it too! But if I skip it outright I always get hungry before lunch. I like to "drink" my breakfast by having Kefir (like yogurt) so that it's super quick and easy, and doesn't feel like food lol. If I skip that, I'll usually bring an apple or something to have as a mid-morning snack.

I ended up using one of my cans yesterday in a Shephard's Pie that I based loosely off of this recipe: https://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-lentil-and-mushroom-sweet-potato-shepherds-pie-182683 Delicious and relatively cheap, and now I have dinners for the week! It was a little time intensive, but definitely fun to try out.

Please enjoy my VERY lazy spinach & tortellini soup... it's great for days when you're just eating out of your pantry. You basically just dump everything in a pot and call it a day. Plus you only get two dishes dirty - the pot and the spoon lol. (Edit: and a knife and a cutting board... forgot about those) 1 can diced…

I like this oatmeal idea too - could be yummy! Unfortunately I don't have a blender so I think a soup might have a weird consistency lol

OMG these look amazing! I've never heard of sweet potato rolls before but I'll have to try them out!

I don't have a slow cooker, so I do all my meal prep on Sundays - planning, shopping, cooking, and portioning. This week I made orange cranberry muffins for breakfast, a cheesey quinoa bake for lunch, apples & almonds for my snacks, and spinach & white bean soup for dinner. I don't mind eating the same thing every day, and…

I started out as a true vegetarian when I was 13 because I loved animals. Of course, being 13 I didn't do any research, didn't eat balanced meals, and started fainting!! My doctor and parents were like "maybe don't do that, kid" so I started eating fish to get the protein and such. Fast forward to now, I've been…

Hello! I don't have Hashimoto's, but I am part of this group: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/111724-getting-fit-with-an-autoimmune-disease It's a very slow group, but there are a few posts others have made about similar issues, including a Hashimoto's thread. You might find someone to reach out to on there, or…

Thank you everyone for your responses! I am definitely going to try the local honey trick, I've heard some people mention it before but I love the idea of starting in early February! One to remember for next year. Your description of allergy shots honestly sounds magical!! I might look into this if I can afford the time…

I've participated in two of the kickstarter challenges (4% in 4 weeks). My first one I made my goal, but alot of that was me 'working the system' ie drinking a lot of water before initial weigh ins, not eating the day of the final, etc which was NOT HEALTHY for me. I made like $15 which was fun. Then, unsurprisingly, I…

Hi there, the below is what worked for me when I was acting cook for a group of ~15-20 people on a week-long trip. I hope you can scale up to do the same! In my situation we had access to a grill, so that will be featured below. Tips - have several large skillet/frying pans, soup pots, and 2 baking sheets at least. Use…

Similar to some of the posters above, I have had success using a vinegar soak. It's cheap and you probably have some in your pantry :) Plus I have allergies to lots of scented detergents & such, so this is the most effective for me. I fill a bucket with water and add ~a half cup of white vinegar, then I let my gym clothes…

"Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow." – Plato That includes not discouraging yourself!! (I had to with the title lol ) Going to the gym, eating right, making healthy choices - each of these are progress, even when you don't see a change on the scale. Every positive change you…

Mealime is really good - gives you healthy meal suggestions for the week, and you can customize to dietary preferences or to avoid foods you're picky about. Then they make a grocery list for your week, and you can check things off at the store/at home if you've already got them in your pantry. Some recipes are 'premium'…

I need this so bad, great idea! Feel free to message me, I am messaging some of the above posters too. May fitness goals: Cardio 3x/week, Strength train 1x/week, Yoga 1x/week. I always skip out running on weekends and I need some encouragement! May food goals: Meal prep every week, stay within calorie goals on weekends,…

I've been eating this Greek Chickpea Salad all week! The below measurements made about 4-5 servings for me, with about 241 calories per serving: Salad: 1-2 cans chickpeas, drained 1 cucumber, chopped 1 container cherry tomatoes, halved 1/2 cup parsley, chopped 1/2 cup feta cheese Dressing: 1/4 cup olive oil 2 tbs balsamic…

Each of my meals is made up of a protein, a starch, a vegetable, and a fruit. When I cook, I make two options for each category, such as making carrots and green beans for the vegetable. Then each day I switch what I take, so I never have the meal repeated during the week, but I always have protein and veggies. It sounds…

I'm younger but here you go: -Female -Single and ready to mingle -23 years old -Looking to lose 20 lbs -Working full time -No kids -CST -I used to be in sports - figure skating in hs and cheer in college til an injury made me stop. I enter the entire recipe into the "recipe builder" tool - there is an option to set how many servings your recipe makes. For example I enter in a banana muffin recipe, I put in every ingredient for the entire batch and then I can say it makes 12 servings (or however many you got from the batter). When logging, you can…

Hi - I have adult acne (it sucks!) and my dermatologist DID tell me to avoid whey protein because it can increase breakouts for some people. I use this vegan protein powder (pricey but soy-free, i'm allergic): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CLD74WQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Since using this protein…

My goal as well! Current strategy is running 2x week, strength training 2x week, and yoga 1x week - but we'll see how long I can stick to it...

This is the protein powder that I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CLD74WQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 It doesn't taste great at first, but I got used to it and now I actually enjoy the taste a lot. it's not overly sweet, which I prefer, but you can used sweetened/flavored almond milk to mix it with…

My mom is also pre-diabetic and we did throw out our ice cream in solidarity! She can't have it and it isn't a 'need' so we only have it in the house for the holidays when people come over. A great alternative for you and your family could be sugar-free popsicles. They only have something like 15 calories and are great for…

I really like Joanna Soh's workouts on youtube - she even has 30-day and 90-day exercise and meal plans available, with recipes!

It was -6 on Tuesday morning, sometimes ice on the sidewalks are slippery, windchill and such make it feel colder!! If you're used to the climate go for it, but it's way too cold for me to run outside. That said, I know a lot of people are still out there. I'll be nice and warm inside my gym :)
