36/12 Alternate Day Fasting since January 3rd with a Mediterranean Diet and vitamins on eating days and a bit of salt in my fasting drinks on fasting days. I’m down 14 lbs as of today. I did have a 4 day vacation and gained a little, but I jumped right back on it and that gain had disappeared. I have a goal of 7500 steps a…

I fast 36+ hours every other day. That evening ‘hunger’ is just ‘that fasted feeling’ and sleeping empty is the best sleep ever! I dream so vividly while fasting. When we fast, we aren’t going without. We’re eating meals we put away just for that purpose. Dr. Fung says your body doesn’t want to have to work for its food,…

I eat a variety of food, all fresh meats but mostly poultry and fish, avocado, avocado and olive oils, nuts, beans, seeds, eggs, whole grains, fruits, lots of veggies,…. I avoid added sugar, refined grain, and processed meats. I save 50% on my grocery budget because I fast 36+ hours every other day. I also take a…

I started fasting again January 3rd after a fairly stressful year with weight gain and 60 lbs to lose. I’m 63. I’ve fasted 36 hours every other day since then with a calorie counted Mediterranean Diet 12 hours in between. I take a walk every day for 15-45 minutes. I’m 10 lbs down!

I do take a multivitamin on my eating days. Otherwise, my body has still 50 lbs of meals I put away that it’s enjoying while I fast. I have lost 10 lbs since January 3rd - 50 to go before goal. I mostly just fast every other day and go at least 36 hours. Sometimes the days depend on what I’m doing, such as that chili cook…

I started again a week ago. I’m 63 and used to fasting, so jumping back into 36 hour fasts 3 days a week was easy. I tried keto with it and it made me dizzy. I tried just eating without tracking and I didn’t lose weight. I have 60 lbs (55 now) to lose. So I’m tracking now with a Mediterranean Diet and I lost 4.8 lbs this…

It looks like Green Light foods is similar to a Mediterranean Diet. I’m doing a Med Diet with macro and calorie counting along with 36 hour fasts three days a week. I enjoy fasting and it isn’t new to me. So far this week I’ve lost 2.4 lbs. I have 57.6 to go. I find this plan to be fun and challenging at 63. I don’t want…

I’m fasting 36 hours M-W-F to get some autophagy. At 63, I need all the help I can get there with loose skin and the like. When I fast, I start right after dinner and go until breakfast 2 days later. I enjoy water, mineral water, and black coffee. I don’t do tea on an empty stomach as it will nauseate me. I do add a pinch…

I’ve enjoyed Dr. Fung’s books, especially The Obesity Code. I’m starting my weight loss journey again this week. Combining two 36 hour fasts per week with 16/8 three days a week and a Mediterranean style diet should lead me to my goals. I found keto too restrictive. Will keep y’all informed as to my progress. I have about…

I recommend Dr. Jason Fung’s books and podcasts.

Is there a fasting group here? I do 16:8 and am working on putting two OMAD days in.

I don’t have a word for 2019, but I saw a Facebook funny that eluded to gaining weight and losing money. I have a(nother) cruise in July- this one really special as a granddaughter is coming along and we’ll be having our shared birthday on the ship! So I made some daily goals- rather lofty process goals. I pay myself $5 a…

The FDA has established safe limits on Artificial Sweeteners. It was hard to find: ihttps://www.fda.gov/Food/IngredientsPackagingLabeling/FoodAdditivesIngredients/ucm397725.htm#SummaryTable Cola type drinks do contain added inorganic phosphate. The National Institute of Health published an article on our overconsumption of…

Do you have to weigh? Use some other measure, such as clothing size, bust measurement, or notches in a belt. Have your doctor weigh you silently and give you a calorie goal. If the thought of weighing is holding you back, by George, just don’t do it!

Up at 6. Weigh. Outdoor walk 30 minutes. Pack lunches and breakfasts and drinks. Shower/wash hair/ primp/dress. Leave for work 7:30. Drink hot ACV/honey (2 tsp ACV, 1 tsp honey, 2 cups boiled water) on my 30 minute commute. Eat breakfast at my desk. I walk another 15 minutes on my morning break.

X12 if you’re active and X10 if you’re not. That’s what a dietitian taught me years ago. It sounds like you’re losing and doing fine. Weight loss is not linear. It’s a ‘soft goal’ for me. I can make everything else happen: counting calories, eating healthy, exercising.

I still have to count calories or I gain weight. I consider peanut butter clean, but u can’t sit down with the jar and a spoon.
-
As a quick quite, a dietitian taught me that if you remove the last number on your calorie intake, that’s the weight you are shooting at. So 1400 will take you to 140, the high end of your normal BMI. I’m 5’8” and (cough) 203 lbs. I’m eating 1200-1500 calories per day to get down to 150. I need to get at least 40 lbs off.…

I mostly eat Mediterranean style, but I moderate it to stay within my calorie level. I have to enjoy my food and so I still eat mayo and peanut butter. Only now I measure it.

My thyroid pill makes me feel alert. Maybe wait on that until morning? I also don’t drink tea after noon. It has theobromine. At night I get up a couple of times. I drink a sip or two of water and go back to bed.

I went 300 over on Wednesday. I ordered hummus and 2 orders of grilled veggies at Zoe’s. They brought pita. I ate it. I didn’t mean to, but.... It stalled my weight loss for one day, but now I’m back losing again and I have a plan for next time.

I’m going for 50 lbs in 7 months. I think it’s very doable with a plan. Yes, it’s aggressive. But it can be done.
-
I think the theory is that a higher calorie intake will keep you on your plan because your stomach won’t be growling all the time. I weigh 206, heading down to my goal of 150 this summer. I eat 1200-1500 calories per day of a Mediterranean style plan, depending how I feel. The fat, fiber, and protein in my diet keep me…

I eat dinner then clean up the kitchen. If I want something after dinner other than water or green tea I have to re-set the table and eat it there with knife and fork with no electronics, no TV. Then I have to clean up the kitchen again. Popcorn lost its appeal really fast.

When I don’t have added sugar, I don’t crave it. The only way I can lose weight/avoid gaining weight is to count my calories, exercise, and to work on avoiding refined carbohydrates. I can do a 3 pm pear but not a 3 pm chocolate bar. It takes me about 24 hours to regain control if I have sugar.

If you need the Pepsi, then cut down the amount, drink it less often, or substitute it. Keep in mind that fructose is metabolized in the liver much like alcohol.

Human adults don’t truly need the lactation fluids from another species. That said, I think the general consensus of the nutritional community is to eat less saturated fat. I agree with the grass fed comment in that the fat of a grass fed/finished ruminant has a different composition from that of a corn fed one.

My friend, who is sensitive to MSG, is also sensitive to Yeast Extract with a headache, redness, and hives. It’s a flavor enhancer similar to MSG.

Halve your weight. That’s how many ounces of fluid you should drink in a day. So unless you weigh 336 lbs, 16 cups might be too much. If you are adding the gallon to other drinks, please re-evaluate your drinking.
