  • While very true, I've seen nothing to indicate that the sugar tax made an impact on the obesity rate in the UK. I've seen claims that are supposed to be based on studies showing that calorie intake from soft drinks alone decreased by a few thousand calories on average per year. But if people get less calories from soda but…
  • Nothing at all to be embarrassed about. Many of the people here have been in the same boat, but often struggle to lose the weight. You've made major changes fairly quickly. Celebrate the success rather than feel bad about the past. Even with just one photo angle, major and obvious differences. Well done.
  • Well MOST of the time they are safe... I think. I'd guess they are probably much safer than being in the car to get there. Most these days are fairly heavy and don't sway either, so unless you have a heights thing it should be a breeze. I've been on a few and the views are usually well worth the trip. My bad. I assumed you…
  • You can find all types of charts for the conversion from angle to grade. The grade should just be a whole number, not shown as a percentage. A 45 degree incline is a 100% grade. But easier to think of as Rise/Run. If you go upward 1' (Rise) for every 10' you go forward (Run), then 1/10 = 10%. Understood that it's trail…
  • Since I'm skipping the rest..... Based on your profile photo, you are a fun weight to hang around with. You pull off that riding a donkey in the sand like you do it every day. I haven't seen you post in a while and just wanted to say that it's one of my overall favorite profile photos.
  • Wow. For a person that has travelled and possibly eaten an alpaca, you sure have some strict "no's" on your list, and you are missing out on a lot of good food. I could live without buffalo myself, but the rest of your list is all well worth trying. And at the end of the day, you like it, or you don't. I've eaten reindeer…
  • Two words. Peanut butter. You're welcome. A forums subsection on weight gain and body building... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/goal-gaining-weight Just like weight loss, sometimes slow is better unless you can pull off the extra exercise to gain some muscle while you are at it. And if you are just the…
  • There are usually quite a few in search of friends for various reasons... BUT.... if you have any profile information filled out, it is only accessible to friends you already have. So you can change that, and fill out some information, or post the information in any posts you make. Being so many differing people have…
  • If you are working long hours, often temporarily in the single parent mode due to your husbands job, and have two older teens life if often hectic and the best thing you can do it work on time management. Involve the kids and give them some responsibility. Split up the work load, and work together to either meal prep,…
  • I'd just use the calculator already linked, and estimate grade the closest you can to the average grade if you do some more intense trail runs and such. That calculator uses the ACSM prediction models, which was accepted as the most accurate based on a study that is often cited and breaks things down for those that just…
  • It may not be quite what you are looking for, but at least somewhat close..... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10801970/disabled-users#latest I deal with back issues myself, and have good and bad periods of time. When it's right I hardly remember I have back issues. When it's not..... I could never forget.…
  • Wow... that's a lot to go through and though we can always say anything is an excuse, it's enough to derail a lot of people. I remember when you were fairly active here before, and some of your weight loss posts. But that has me curious, did you use MFP alone the first time around? If so I'm just wondering why you decided…
  • Click on the persons name, and from that screen click on the box that says "MyFitnessPal Profile". From that screen you will see the green boxes with "Add As Friend" included. I'm not sure if you can currently send people a message unless they are already a friend.
  • Because if you don't eat enough it makes it harder to keep it up long term, and you might not be getting proper nutrition. You will get run down, hangry, maybe angry... and who knows what else? Punch in the weight loss goal that is long term sustainable, and at least stay close to recommended calories. Experiment some if…
  • I am glad to have zapped it. I read almost a page before realizing it's a zombie thread, so it felt good to zap the spam that bumped it to the top. :) Now I'm wondering how many more people in the UK have trimmed down due to the soda tax... hmmm.
  • I found myself listening to quite a bit of Rush this evening, and it dawned on me that it's been almost a year since we lost this immense talent behind the drums. Both a musical and lyrical genius, and the world is a lesser place without him here.
  • Cross fire at the shooting range. They only had to be about six feet off the center of their target to impact mine. The leaking sink flange I found out about when I got back from the range. The fact that I haven't slept yet, and I'm not sure if staying up to fix the sink is worth it. But both sides of a kitchen sink are…
  • As always with your photos, great stuff NC. It's been a long time since I've been in terrain that easy on the eyes.
  • From here on MFP.... https://support.myfitnesspal.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032625071-Eating-Disorder-Resources Wish I could help more. For anyone in need, please ask. I'm sure there are other resources that could be found.
  • I don't have it, but quite a few people here in the forums discuss it from time to time. I've suggested it might be a good group to start, but not sure if anyone ever did it. And just a reminder, there are some eating disorder resources here on MFP if anyone ever need them.…
  • It's hard to miss that avatar... Taco cat returns! Well... sorry things have been rough for you lately. But at least you know how it works, and made it back. Having done it in the past, it should be less of a learning curve at least, but still not fun. Welcome back.
  • I don't think anyone who has been here for a while would be surprised... at all. Just ignore it if it's not bad, and report it if it is bad. They can't weed out the creeps if they don't know who the creeps are.
  • Well... about 6 years and one account. And the same profile photo... guess that should change to a grumpy old grey haired guy at some point. Get off my yard! :D I can get when people lose passwords or forget... but some of the people that come and go constantly with new names gets confusing. And @slimgirljo15 ..... holy…
  • But... but... the celery thing might actually work! I can't imagine wanting to eat much more after 17 sticks of celery! I never thought up anything when I lost weight. It just came naturally. A neighbor acquaintance one day commented how I'd obviously lost weight and "looked great". And then followed up with something like…
  • "Liveable" as defined by most of us with internet access, is absolutely spoiled to much of the world. So take your cost of living adjusted standard, and reduce it in every way, shape and form to basic food, clothing and shelter. Even in a high cost of living area for many people it would be a LOT less than people think. I…
  • I was glad someone beat me to it. I haven't tried since the change and ran into the same thing. Since I'm on an Android phone I have no idea at all how it works on a phone, since I can't see the community yet. But just a note to @actimomwifeboss and anyone else looking for friends. If you use the method above as shown, you…
