Sounds like you have started building some muscle after your weight loss. I would not worry so much about the number on the scale. Great example of why measurements & progress pictures are far more important than the weight. Way to go!!!

Thank you! I'll look into this

That's me! Hate cardio. Hate it hate it hate it!

I've been lifting for about 15 months, and worked up to 5-6 days a week. I limit my compound lifts to every other day but have always done accessory lifts on other days. Recently ran a PHUL program & really liked that but wanted something different. May back off on off days but I hate cardio!

True. I've learned to love squats over the past few months but I've always worked glutes separately as well. I love glute bridges and rdl & can really feel my glutes fire better with those than with squats. Maybe I'll lay off glutes for a bit & see but I've finally got a bit of bootie so don't want to lose it! These big…

I just started 5x5 this week as well. The app makes it very easy to follow. I really want to figure out something to do on the in between days. Trying to focus on glutes & abs those days but wondering if I will miss doing more accessory lifts

Wow! Great job! I'm sure you are not only looking great but feeling better too! You should be very proud of yourself!
-
Wonderful job! You not only look great, it sounds like you are feeling so much better. Congratulations!

Great job on the weight loss & recompile your body! It's a wonderful feeling!

I've been using for about 6 weeks. I can tell a difference in " pump" in my muscles, especially my arms. Didn't think about soreness before I read this thread but now that I think about it, I guess it's helped with that as well.
-
Great job! Have you tried doing push ups before planks? Keep up the great work!

I'm 5'1 1/2", 115 lbs, 53 yrs old and trying to maintain on 1600 but still loosing about 1/2 lb a month. I eat back about 1/2 my exercise calories & don't worry too much if I have a bit more once or twice a week. I lift 5-6 days a week & try to get cardio or HITT in 2-3 times a week.

Couple of good ones at Snap Fitness in Richardson on Renner Rd. Also know some who do classes in Wylie. Absolute Fitness. What are you looking for in a trainer?

Lol, well I'm a morning person to begin with, so that helps. Can you set coffee pot on timer so you wake up to the smell? If your a coffee person that is. Or find a workout buddy. Neither wants to be the one not showing up! I just know if I don't go in the morning, chance of me getting my workout in goes way down. Too many…

Thank you arditarose & sumiblue. This sounds like what I'm looking for, especially adding a glute day in the mix. I think I'll give it a try once I'm back in the states & up my calories to maintenance. Thank you both for sharing your experience!

Thanks for the feed back. The owner of my gym is former bodybuilder & she has given my programs every 6-8 weeks. By the end of each program, I've either added weight to each lift or increased reps. Still pushing, still challenging. I'm moving back to the states in a couple of weeks for 6 months & won't have programs…

Following Started lifting June 2015. Lost about 9 lbs but completely changed body shape. 5'1" 115.8 lbs Upper body good muscle definition, calves as well. Always had big thighs but now they are hard. Not much definition there yet or in abs. Glutes firming up (yay I have a butt after all these years!) But still a bit of…

You've definitely been through some hard times but congratulations on taking back control of your life! Feel free to add me as well
-
Great job! Congratulations
-
Great job! Keep it ip. If you haven't already, take pictures & measurements. You'll be amazed in a few months
-
Well my reply was much longer than that ☝ Not sure what happened. .. I'm 5'2", 116 lbs with 24% bf. Been lifting about 9 months, only lost about 7 lbs but went from 34% bf to 24%. Still carrying fat on Hips & inner thighs BUT, for the first time in my life, my thighs are getting rock hard! You're looking great! Keep it up!

Pretty similar here but can't figure out how to post pic
-
Yep, same here. I would love to see more women lifting with confidence & have been kicking around the idea.
-
Great job!

Just discovered this thread. Anyone still active? I'm 53, been lifting about 9 months & goal is to compete by my 55th birthday

While loosing weight, you can help prevent muscle loss with strength training and an adequate intake of protein. Set your protein at .8- 1 gram of protein to body weight.
-
Feel free to add me as well. 53 yo female, lifting for about a year. I've lost about 12 lbs, but more importantly, dropped bf% by nearly 10% and lost 2 pant sizes. Muscles are growing and starting to show. Try to keep within calorie limit and try to always keep my protein up.
-
Agree with both of the above. How much weight are you trying to lose? The scales should be used as only part of the way we measure progress. What are some of your other goals that arent weight related? Examples- drop 2 pant sizes, lift progressively heavier, muscle growth/definition, etc. If you're already losing inches,…

I'm 53, 5'2", 116 lbs. Maybe not hot but over the past year I've lost 10 lbs, dropped bf% by 14%, lost 2+ pant sizes and gained over 18 lbs of muscle mass. I've got visible muscles, feel great, eating more than I ever have in my life (about 2200 cals a day) and loving this journey! Still have areas to improve but yes, you…
