Stronglift 5x5 Android App

This has probably been posted before. I don't get on here very often...But I am in love with this app! I was debating which weight lifting program I was going to start this September (I did Wendler last fall and winter) and I came across this app. I did my first workout yesterday. I didn't find it very strenuous (which is kind of the point) but holy moly am I ever sore today. It takes all of the thinking out of the workout. You just workout!!! I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try this program, or who is already doing it!

  • I just started 5x5 this week as well. The app makes it very easy to follow. I really want to figure out something to do on the in between days. Trying to focus on glutes & abs those days but wondering if I will miss doing more accessory lifts

You shouldn't have to worry about your glutes since you're squatting every workout. I teach 2 spinning classes a week, so that's what I'm doing in between. My glutes are killing me today! lol

You shouldn't be lifting on your rest days. You can do cardio but less is more with lifting
  • True. I've learned to love squats over the past few months but I've always worked glutes separately as well. I love glute bridges and rdl & can really feel my glutes fire better with those than with squats. Maybe I'll lay off glutes for a bit & see but I've finally got a bit of bootie so don't want to lose it! These big quads & hams tend to take over. Thick thigh problems!
  • I've been lifting for about 15 months, and worked up to 5-6 days a week. I limit my compound lifts to every other day but have always done accessory lifts on other days. Recently ran a PHUL program & really liked that but wanted something different. May back off on off days but I hate cardio!

You can do those as accessories on the days you do sl.

The general idea is to give each muscle group a day of rest between workouts and since SL is a full body workout and you are squatting all 3 days you would be working your glutes 5 days in a row.
