  • I also only log 1/2 the time I actually spent, since MFP's exercise burns are notoriously too high. So 1 hour of yoga becomes 30 minutes.

  • I've been participating in carb cycling research for 5.5mo now and here are some of the things I've learned... 1. Carb cycling isn't for the half-azzed keto-er. You either weigh/track every bite every day without fail and without exception or you're just going to screw it up. 2. Carb cycling doesn't help you lose weight.…
  • After my 2.25hr yoga workout yesterday where I lay on the mat and tried to decide if I was dying or not, I noticed some abs coming in. I can't see them, because I still have some belly fat, but I sure could feel them. My obliques are awesome. Now to lose the belly so I can see them. Patience.

  • I have mine set specifically by grams. For me, it's worth it to be able to set by specific grams, which is how my doctors, dietitian, and trainer have them set. I use baseline macros with exercise add-backs, which allow me to have variable training days. Baseline is 1,145kc, 35c, 105p, 65f. My add-backs are by percentage…

  • It will tighten as you continue to lose. Massaging can help, especially if it's an area that tends to hold water. But special lotions aren't required. Exercise helps a lot to tighten skin, because it too moves the water from the fat remaining under the skin.
  • Have you re-adjusted your macros to meet your workouts. Because you should do that. If you aren't, then your pouch isn't the problem, it's your nutrition. I started using baseline macros with exercise add-backs in January, because I was having a similar issue. Changing to variable macros based on my workouts fixed the…

  • One of the first things my dietitian suggested was to follow blood glucose testing protocol for each sugar alcohol. The lab averages are just that, but many of us don't fit into the lab averages. I now know which ones I can subtract/ingest and which I can't, although I rarely bother to do the math. I subtract fibre and…
  • I use net carbs by subtracting off fibre. I don't subtract sugar alcohols, although I suppose I could. I'm just too lazy to worry about it. Net from veggie fibre allows me to eat all the veggies I can/want.
  • This past week, I dropped into a size 6 jeans, as I mentioned up there. In the last 3 months, I've lost only 6lbs, but almost 10 inches all over. Some of my floppy arm batwings have gone and the sponginess around my middle is going. The firming up is finally starting to happen.

  • It's not boredom with LC. Tired of the same recipes? ---Google, Pinterest, Facebook food groups, although I do have some fave sites I can share. Are you falling into lazy and relying on convenience LC foods? ---Look at new preparation methods. If you're crunched for time or motivation, look at doing multi-meal prep. Are…
  • Remember that lab results on blood glucose impact is just lab averages. Everyone will react differently. If you want to know, you need to use bg testing protocol and test each one individually. If I'd paid attention to lab averages, I'd be totally screwing myself. One the chart says doesn't affect bg, does for me. One they…
  • At the beginning, I counted them just so I would know exactly what I'm eating. Now, I don't worry about it. There's literally nothing I can do about it. I keep the number in the back of my mind, but I don't log them any longer.
  • Yesterday, I bought size 6 jeans. 2 years ago, I wore a 32.

  • Yoga, caffeine, and a heavy bag. No medication works for me. The best I get is a little mitigation with caffeine. So I up my caffeine intake a little, add in some extra yoga, and beat the *kitten* out of a heavy bag. And when necessary, I crawl into a cold, dark interior room and cry.

  • What are your macros? I ask because I can't imagine long workouts on 60g of protein per day. That's low. I regularly run 6mi daily, plus 3-4mi of walking, 60min of yoga, and upper body weights or HIIT 3x a week. I don't need any type of additional fuel until I hit 15k. Then, I need electrolytes and BCAAs. Eating food just…
  • So you're testing your bg and you're sure it's hypoglycemia? If you're suddenly much lower carb than before surgery, you could be going through keto flu. That's an electrolyte imbalance and sugar won't help. G2 gatorade or Powerade zero. You could just be too low on sodium. If you're doing 30-60g per day in carbs, you're…
  • I take 6g a day in tablets, then another 2-3g in my food, especially on heavy workout days.
  • Make sure your salt intake is sufficient. If you get lightheaded during/after a workout, add more salt. On my heavy workout days, I take 6g of sodium tablets plus what's added to food. You'll need a lot more salt than you think.
  • Naw, my kids got on my last nerve decades ago, so that's kind of a lost cause.

  • I use French press with cooking extracts. Want pumpkin spice? Vanilla and pumpkin extract. Mint chocolate chip? Mint and a little cocoa. Sweetener of choice. Seriously, I can do me some coffee.
  • Daily, 4-8p window, partial fast as I have 3oz Fairlife in my morning coffee.
  • xp... I had a cardiac echo today and unlike the one two years ago, the tech didn't say, "Oh sh***. I'll be right back," run out of the room, and bring back 2 cardiologists and call 911. I don't know the exact results, but that *didn't* happen. And I heard it beat, so it's neither cold nor dead, as is rumored. I'm feeling…

  • 16mo post-RNY, mine are: cals: 1145 carbs: 35g fibre: 25g protein: 105g fat: 65g Those are my base. I get to eat that even if all I do is breathe and blink. As I exercise, I have it add back my calories at 15% carbs, 20% protein, 65% fat. I don't eat that much fat, but it has to equal to 100%. My workouts can often be…
  • As much as the scale is important, I really wish folks wouldn't take those numbers to heart. They're going to fluctuate, especially as you're healing. The next year or two will be a scale roller coaster, so you have 2 choices... 1. Weigh and take each number to heart, fret over increases, and fret over losses and whether…
