Hi there! I'm 5'4" and started at 240. I'm currently at 222.5 and I can't wait to see a 219 on the scale! I've tried multiple weight loss attempts before, and what always goes wrong is I try to do too much too soon and get burnt out. Weight Watchers had too many rules for me -- led to mental fatigue and binging. I also…

I think about the temporary and fleeting pleasure of eating the snack and weigh it against the remorse and regret I might feel later. Whichever is heavier, wins. So if it's an unappetizing dry cookie, I know I'll be kicking myself when I log it later so I feel totally fine not eating it. If it's something good and…

Scrambled eggs take two minutes to make. I used to throw some grilled veggies or whatever veggie leftovers from dinner the night before into a container on top of the eggs and get some nice hot sauce over all of it.

Are you dairy free because of lactose intolerance? If so, I would suggest getting some Lactaid supplement. It supplies the lactase enzyme to help digest dairy products when you take a tablet with any dairy consumed. I've been using them for a year or more and it has changed my life. I even ate ice cream with no ill effects…

Yes it may well be correlation. With only 40 days' sample, I'm not going to say it's a definite thing. Just curious if anyone had had anything similar they noticed. I haven't noticed being hungrier or it affecting my eating the rest of the day either way. And I was pretty sure mealtimes didn't matter, so it's good to get a…

Normally no, but since I started doing this CICO thing, Yes! My dad went to eat a piece of my omelet and I had weighed and measured every bit of it. I got pretty annoyed with him but I didn't like feeling that way. Still, what am I supposed to do -- make extra just in case someone wants some? No that doesn't seem feasible.…

Thanks for all the suggestions! It's been a little more challenging for me because I don't enjoy the taste of pork, so no bacon and no pork rinds. But the Fathead crackers is interesting. I'll Google that, and yes maybe I should make my own cheese crisps. Thanks! Has anyone heard of or tried this brand: Linda's Diet…

Oh, using a similar restaurant meal hadn't occurred to me. Thank you!

Twins! Or pretty close. 5'4" from NJ SW: 240 CW: 222.5 GW: 150 I've been at this for 40 days now, so I'm happy with my progress so far. But I can't wait to get to 212 and below 200! Sent a friend request

I'm within sight of a new weight "decade".... would love to get there before the end of July!

I just tried Tumaro's multi-grain wrap and it was great!! Cutting bread out hasn't been terrible, but having a tortilla to wrap around things makes life so much easier sometimes.

I just got a Fitbit Alta HR and I love it! It's motivating me to increase my activity and just be AWARE of how inactive I've been before. Also I love that it shows me my heartrate and sleep cycles. it also connects to my phone via bluetooth so if someone is calling or texting, it lets me know. It's great!

This may be an old thread but I do have questions about these noodles! Has anyone tried them with ramen soup packets? I used to eat instant ramen at least once a week and I cut it out because... well, they're not very nutritious. But I miss them!

I'm 5'4" and my doctor tried to take an inch away and tell me I was 5'3". I fought back and made the nurse re-measure! One motivation related to being short: My 6'3" boyfriend always calls me "tiny" and "little one", which makes me feel precious. Lately, when he's been calling me those nicknames, I felt bad because I…

Agree with the others that no one food is going to cause weight gain or weight loss... It's all about the plan. That being said, I would much rather eat my calories than drink them. I cut out soda and alcohol. It made it easier for me to stay within my calorie goals when I didn't have to factor in beverages.

If there's no medical reason for you to restrict carbs, why do it? Personally, I didn't want to make any changes to my lifestyle that I wouldn't find sustainable in the long run. I happen to do low carb because I have blood sugar issues, but that's a change I've committed to making for the rest of my life. If I didn't have…

After I let loose on 4th of July, I didn't let myself panic or get discouraged by the scale. I simply got focused, and executed my plan on the 5th, 6th, and today for my official weigh-in, I'm still seeing a slightly higher number than I saw on the 3rd, but it's lower than it was on the 5th. My NSV is... I am keeping calm…

Update: I achieved my mini goal on the 5th, then the 6th, and now am on track to continue through today!

Thanks for your post! I lost the first ten pounds very quickly in the first two weeks, and now I'm in week five, still struggling over the same five pound loss. It helps to hear your account and know that if I just stick to it, it'll keep working. Congrats!

I noticed after I gained the last 15 pounds that I was always sweating and smelly because of it. It felt disgusting. Now I've lost that 15 lbs (still have a ways to go) and I did notice less sweating and feeling overheated.

Thanks for the response! A real lazy bump on a log... I'm afraid this accurately describes me at the moment. I have 1.5 hr commute to work (each way) and work 8+ hours at a desk job. Often times I'm lucky if I can get home in time to walk the dog any longer than 30 minutes before eating dinner, doing a little housework and…

If I didn't have blood sugar issues, I'd eat bread all day everyday.... *wistful sigh*

Done! One thing that might be useful to add to the original post: Negative calorie adjustments? Not many people address them, and I've been looking for info on it because I recently got a Fitbit that told me I was NOT actually burning as much as MFP was telling me I was. MFP has me at 1380 (90 lbs to lose, set at 1.5 lbs…

This was a really REALLY helpful post. Especially that graphic for how the BMR etc are calculated. I was searching for that info and nowhere was it better put. I really think this should be stickied. Many new members might not read the stickies but some of us read them all religiously. I vote for putting it up there! Edit:…

Me too. I weighed myself the next day and the scale showed five more pounds. I'm pretty sure I didn't actually gain 5 pounds. So i'm trying to keep a cool head, drink lots of water, and have gotten myself back on track. Even did a little exercise today! Give yourself a mini goal and try not to pay attention to the scale…

With all this talk about 1200 calories not being sustainable... I'm finding myself very confused by MFP's recommendation for 1200 for me. It starts out with 1380, then with a negative adjustment thanks to my Fitbit, it comes to a total of 1200. I'm set for 1.5 lbs loss and have over 100 to lose. Is there something wrong?…
