Water intake and heart issues?
Hi, TL;DR: I've always thought you were supposed to drink a lot of water for health and weight loss; but if you have heart disease, they say to restrict water intake. I'm having a hard time reconciling that! The story: I've been struggling with nutrition and weight loss my whole life (it feels like) and I have absolutely…

Took 2 weeks off and fell into an abyss for a month!
So, I guess what I've learned from this experience is.... Don't do that again. I thought I had made a good strong habit of eating mindfully and it would make it through the off-period (relatives in town for two weeks, which then got extended to my vacation, which then got extended for no good reason at all). But I was…

First 20 lbs lost!
I just wanted to celebrate this morning because I've finally broken through and lost my first 20 lbs! It's been frustrating because right when I was at 18 lbs down, I hit a wall of a plateau. For 5 weeks I've been losing the same 2-4 pounds, up and down, up and down, up and down. I scoured through my diary for clues, I…

Frustrating Month but still going
This has been a frustrating month of ups and downs, losing the same 2-4 pounds over and over again. But on the plus side, I have not allowed it to discourage me to the point of abandoning my efforts. In the past I really would've fallen victim to the "What's the point?! Eat everything!" mentality. But from experience I…

Carb Days
Hey, so I'm doing low carb (under 50g per day) for weight loss and some health reasons (mid-high blood glucose) but I don't have diabetes. For those of you that restrict carbs for non-essential health reasons, do you ever indulge in a day of eating carbs? I am not in keto, so I'm not concerned with knocking myself out of…

Carb-Substitutes = No Weight Loss?
Hi there, About five weeks ago, I discovered Tumaro's Low Carb Tortillas. I went a bit tortilla happy for a week or so, eating 2-3 of them each day. This came out to below my target daily carb intake, but it also upped my fiber a lot. Since then, I've evened out to maybe 1 or 2 tortillas/low carb bread substitutes per…

Crunchy Snacks?
40 days into my low carb lifestyle, and the only thing I'm really craving is crunchy, salty snacks like potato chips. I tried to get those parmesan cheese "crackers" but found them to be incredibly salty and too cheesy. Have you found anything potato-chip equivalent that satisfies the "crunch" craving?

Breakfast?
I've noticed a trend in the past 40 days of eating and weight loss: Usually when I go through a week of eating breakfast, I'll end up losing that week. When I don't eat breakfast, I'll maintain. To the best of my knowledge my CICO have been roughly consistent throughout and my activity level as well. Has anyone else…

Logging inaccuracies?
Hello, helpful veterans. I need a little guidance on using the app to log foods. I've read a few articles on this, but they often give tips like "Look for the items that have a high number of people who confirmed the entry," etc. When I'm using the app, I can't see the number of people that confirmed. Also, sometimes I'll…

State Fair and SV!
Guys, I ate a footlong deep fried corn dog with curly cheese fries last night at the State Fair. This morning when I weighed in I braced myself to see a number inflated by water weight and who knows what else. But instead I saw a new low! I realized I'd been on my feet all day and I hit my 10,000 step goal too! I had room…

What Keeps Me Going
I learned a few motivational tips from posts like this, and thought it might be helpful to me and others to see what everyone does to keep motivated. Especially with 4th of July coming up for me, I'm allowing indulgences but tracking everything... The trouble is, sometimes it's hard to get back into the swing of things…

Not allowing myself to feel success
Hi there! I've been struggling with my weight and diet for most of my adult life and have yo-yo'd quite a lot, always ending up heavier than where I began. Well this time, I am fully committed for health reasons and for my general happiness. I've decided that this is a lifestyle change, not a "diet" and I've been sticking…
