  • I agree with what others have said about 1200 cals. I think that's way too low. I've been on mfp for a while and I find the odd 1200 day a struggle, so if you're new to dieting, I think it will be too much of a shock.
  • Yeah, I've had the same problem. I still find it useful, for working out the individual serving sizes, but check the ingredients one by one to make sure the cals look right.
  • I've been vegetarian about 27 years, slowly becoming vegan, and have an open diary. Please add me!

  • How often are you weighing yourself? Day to day fluctuations can be quite extreme, so if you just weighed after one week, you could have had an upward fluctuation that is skewing things. I weigh in every day or every other day and take a weekly average, to try to avoid this.
  • Hi Tasha, I'm adding you now as a friend, I hope we can support each other. I'm sorry to hear you feel so lost, but you're in the right place.

  • Hi James, It sounds like quite a journey you've been on. I'm sorry to hear about your amputation. I really admire your spirit of success and hope we can support each other. I'm really into slow, sustainable weight loss too.
  • Hello, shall add you as a friend now. Always looking for supportive friends, and hope we can help each other out as we're fellow writers. Difference is, I'm a sucker for the savoury treats...
  • Great attitude, hope we can support each other. What was your old job and what is your new job?
  • I'm sorry to hear you have experienced so many difficult things. I'm adding you as a friend now, and hope we can support each other as we move forward.
  • Hi Rayhan, I agree with you. I've used mfp before, but never found it as good for me as now when I'm engaging with the community.
  • Yup, I'm in the same boat. I've lost weight plenty of times then plateaued and given up. I've used mfp before, but this is the first time I'm engaging with the community and so far finding it so helpful.
  • I really identify with what you said, particularly about portion control (or lack of), and constant thinking about food. Something that has completely changed my outlook is hypnosis. I was totally sceptical at first, but borrowed a book from the library, figuring it wasn't costing me anything to try it. Now I do some kind…
  • I'm in a similar situation. I haven't regained everything I lost, but the scales are certainly starting to creep up, so want to nip it in the bud once and for all this time. I've used mfp before, but haven't engaged with the community. This time round already seems much easier with support of others who understand.
  • Thanks guys, that's really helpful. I think I'll adjust mine up to something a bit more achievable than it is now way down the bottom of the BMI range. Best of luck to you all.
  • Yes, I'm in a similar situation. I lost about 20 lbs in the last year (mostly accidentally, due to stress - but hey, silver lining), but have gained about 7 back. I want to stop the gain in its tracks now and forever, and really get this sorted in a healthy and sustainable way I can stick with for life. Would be great to…
  • Hi, I don't really know much about the cholesterol, sorry, but just wanted to say good for you for keeping on with your veggie diet. I've been vegetarian for about 27 years, for moral reasons, and would also like to make the change to vegan at some point. (How much I love cheese is a problem!) All the research suggests…
