I fast from time to time in order to balance my food intake and I find I usually feel a lot more healthy after a day without food. I do keep my fluids up and choose a day when Im not going to be working hard or under pressure. Apparently some people advocate fasting on occasion to reduce the likelihood of cancer in the…

Losing weight should certainly be helping to take the load off your joints, so what ever is going on you are certainly better off being more slim so well done. I wonder if there is some correlation between the kind of foods you now eat and the joint pain. I seem to remember that there are some foods that are recommended to…

I just bought some weight watchers scales which not only weigh you but also tell you your BMI fat water muscle I am in UK and got them from argos at £16 pretty good I feel I did some research and these were recommended as reliable and good value

It took about a year to get to a weight that I am happy with, I reduced my goal weight a couple of times along the way. It took about a year to lose 62lbs and it wasnt as hard as I expected. The last stone has been as much about seeing if I can do it as needing to lose more. Im now a healthy BMI and feel soooo much better…

I have reduced the amount of carbs I eat and increased my protein and for me it has been a big help in that I dont have such a big appetite anymore, I feel that for me carbs made me more hungry

A comment like that is hardly likely to motivate you??? If you want to lose weight to feel better feel sexier be more healthy then I wouldnt worry too much about your boobs. I have lost over 50lbs and feel so much sexier and my partner seems to appreciate the more energetic confident outgoing woman that I am now plus the…

I suffered with low back problems for years, losing weight has helped a lot and these days I can do most exercize, though I am always mindful of things that could aggravate it like carrying heavy things or sudden movements that could compress my spine or shock it. I started with swimming and I didnt push it to begin with…

Talk to him, tell him you feel you are going to lose some weight and that as his friend you hope he will try not to tempt you to eat when its not what you want to do. Look him in the eye and make sure he realises you are serious and asking for him to be on your side with this. If that doesnt work he is not a true friend…

For me it was deciding that I didnt want to be the fat version of me anymore. Tha tperson was unhappy and the only one who could sort it out was me. This had to stop: always thinking I could be healthier slimmer hating the way I looked hating the way I felt thinking about food all the time not doing things because I felt…

I am still amazed that I dont feel hungry the whole time or just spend my time thinking about what I can eat. Cutting carbs is the most amazing thing for me. I think carbs just make you crave more food IMO

I am not sure what I am going to do now that I am at target weight and have decided to lose another 7lbs just to see if it feels even healthier. Its tempting to keep reducing at the rate I have been doing which is about 1 to 2 lbs per week just to get it over with and I am struggling to switch to maintaining mentality as I…

I regret not cutting out carbs sooner, in particular bread. I knew it made me bloat and didnt seem to suit my body but I loved eating bread and potatoes so didnt cut them out til far too late. Got there now but I regret letting my joints suffer for so long with the extra weight bearing down on them and all the things I…

I think offering help like that is a good idea. She has asked for suggestions and you are offering that to her. I think that she will be happy to know that someone cared enough to offer some advice. On top of that I think if you dont offer that info to try to help her you will just feel bad later and wish you had done it.

I have lost a lot in the last 9 months and my work means people visit me about every two months. In the last couple of months its as though they have suddenly realised that I am a lot thinner and they are commenting with Oh my god are you ill? you shouldnt be losing all that weight you looked lovely before what happened to…

I used to be always hungry until I cut back on carbs and upped my protien, now I can eat in a sensible way without feeling desperate for the next thing to eat and Im not constantly thinking about food as I used to be. Enormous difference since cutting carbs right back for me

I have been buying clothes from charity shops until I feel I am at a weight I will stay with. As they get too big I give them away to the charities again, I find you dont need a lot of clothes and its good to find how much easier it is to find things you like as the sizes get lower and the clothes are more available in my…

Beleive me I do take a lot of salt :( I was brought up to add plenty of salt to all my food and I think its fair to say that its highly unlikely that Im taking too little, however I do think you are on to something as in- my body has been used to high levels of salt and I have…

What I meant by sticking with my diet is that I had not had more calories than I intended.
