working out metabolic rate?

Hi
can anyone tell me if they have worked out their metabolic rate? I think it must be possible to take the CICO factor in cals burned with exercize and work out just what my metabolic rate is.

I am working on moving to maintainance and would prefer to be able to have some idea of my current metabolic rate before I start.

ALSO: can anyone tell me is cals net the amount of cals left after exercize or is it something else? The two reports on cals available are, net cals and cals and I dont understand the difference?

    Calories burned are probably harder to calculate exactly enough from which to reverse engineer BMR. I just use a BMR formula and use that and intake versus weight loss to see what's going on.

    Yes, net is after exercise.

    ok trying to get my head around this but I think that net cals + 3500cals per pound lost should tell me my metabolic rate?

    Net calories includes "metabolic" calories, though, just not exercise calories.

    Why do you think this will help your maintenance?

    Surely you just need to work out your TDEE over the last say 3 months

    So add up how many calories you've eaten in total
    Add up how many pounds weight you've lost and times by 3500
    Add the two together
    Divide by the days you've counted and you've got your maintenance TDEE roughly

    It's the sum total of calories you burn in a given day...those from just existing, those from your regular daily activity, and those from any additional exercise.

    It's how much you burn.

    To lose weight, you need to eat less than you burn. CICO = Calories In, Calories Out.

    And. . . .and......and TEF(Thermic effect of food-z) though this 5-7% of TDEE so not as important as the other listed items.

    Then you're going to love this...cos really it's the only thing you need to know :)

    As they said its total daily energy expenditure which means how many calories you use living your life including all activity and any exercise

    Eat to your TDEE you'll maintain

    Eat below it you'll lose, above if you'll gain

    Your basic metabolic rate plus your general activity plus purposeful exercise = TDEE
