  • I had the psych eval and a physical therapist visit coordinated by the surgeon's office but at a different office. The shrink at her clinic did not take my insurance. I JUST remembered, I did have an EKG at my pre-op hospital visit along with a chest X-ray and blood work. I totally forgot about that! I also had a sleep…
  • I'm curious, everyone is talking about having a cardio visit. I did not have that and I am curious if it was because my doctor did not think it was necessary for me, while she might have sent other patients. I have high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease (father -obese, smoker, dead at 50), but freakishly…
  • Thank you for all your input @NicoleL874. You are an INSPIRATION!!! I really wanted to become a gym rat after this surgery. It has been 4 months (I can't believe that!) and I'm finally doing it. The Iron Girls group is very supportive. One of the woman and I are committing to doing cardio afterwards. She is young & fit,…

  • I understand the protein thing, I can hardly tolerate any of it. I drink Premier Protein and only in chocolate & vanilla. They are best when extremely cold! So if you haven't tried those, that's my only recommendation.
  • I lost 15 lbs in the hospital (2 days) but then lost only a few pounds the first month. Then all of the sudden it started to drop off. Then I hit a plateau again (holidays!, not doing my best, etc). I even gained back 3 pounds. That small gain didn't stress me out. But I just started and exercise class this week and I'm…
  • This is the "introduce yourself" group - do we (you?!) need to set up a new group for the hilariously fluffy? (BTW, I really don't like the term fluffy).
  • Sounds fun!! I don't have a witty comeback right now - I'm at work!
  • Congratulations & welcome to the group!
  • Welcome @robbhtrd! Congratulations!
  • @krazzieone - subbing in a protein shake is a great idea. And then just getting used to less food, protein first, eating slowly and chewing, chewing, chewing all your food. These are good habits for anyone. I realllly notice how much my husband inhales his food now. I wonder if he chews at all!
  • So I didn't hit the gym, but I did beginner yoga and water aerobics once each :) My weight remained flat, which I was perfectly happy with.
  • We decided to blow off Christmas and are headed to a Cancun all-inclusive! I'm actually not too concerned with the food (buffet, etc). I can't eat a ton so it is not like I'm going to stuff my face. I just need to make sure I pick up proteins and eat that first. I might have a cocktail or two though! Even though my surgeon…
  • Congratulations to all the November and December "sleevers"! What a way to start 2016!
  • @NicoleL874 I love that you have become a gym rat! That is what I want to be! My primary care doc's big concern was substituting one addiction for another -> food for drugs, alcohol, sex (meaning not your sig other!), etc. My goal is to substitute working out! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
  • I am still only down about 12ish pounds since surgery 10/14, but down 55 from my high. I think the problem is I haven't been walking. It's my own fault. I have every excuse in the book. I hate that it is dark when I get home. I have pretty severe neuropathy and my feet just hurt too much by the end of the day. And then the…
  • I have been lax about logging into my food diary - which is why I usually sign in. I'm going to go back to the "October Sleever's" thread to post my rant of the day!
  • Good luck! The main tip I have is just to follow your doctor's orders/recommendations. Also, on the internet you tend to hear all the horror stories and your surgeon's office is probably telling you all these bad things that can happen. Personally, my biggest issue has been constipation, but no other digestion or tolerance…
  • Going back to mid July, what turned out to be three months before surgery, I lost 7 pounds on a "prove you can do it for 2 weeks" diet from the dietitian. I kept that off. Pre-op I lost about 12. Then I lost another 15 in the hospital. Depending on the scale, I'm only down a couple of pounds - maybe 4? HW: 305 CW: 263 So .…
  • Awesome @nicole874 !!
  • Another couple of pounds down! It seems to have started falling off now that I'm eating soft foods. Bought a new scale at Target today, mainly to see it is a bit more reliable. It was cheaper than I thought it would be.
  • Ok, per my weird scale, down 2 pounds this morning. I'm writing that down before it changes its mind! I think I need to invest in a good scale.
  • Touché - took me 35 years to put it on, should take me more than 35 days to take it off. :)
  • I am STILL at my leave-the-hospital weight! It's crazy! I emailed the clinic and they are not worried about it. I'm going to take my food journal with me to my 6 week appointment in December. Yes, I lost a lot with the pre-op diet and at the hospital, and I'm probably down half a size in pants. But I was really hoping to…
  • Ok, I'm sharing my food diary. I'm still on puree, so it is pretty boring!
  • I've been home 3 weeks and I still haven't lost a pound. I lost 15 at the hospital! I don't get how that can be, but the PA at the surgeon's office didn't seem concerned. I've been good this past week about logging in my food here. If I don't lose of the weekend I'm going to call the nutritionist on Monday. I'm down 40…
  • @NicoleL874 Looking forward to your review of the Nectar unflavored. I'm struggling with it, but getting better. Adding it to my pureed soups, but not up to a full scoop yet.
  • Congrats @penkon and @KCHRISTIAN! Welcome to the group!
  • @NicoleL874 Let me know how the blended meatballs are! I was going to make some for my soft food stage. I still haven't blended any meat. Going to start with Chunky Soup. On the TMI/Lady Parts side - I have an IUD and haven't had a real period in years, just misc spotting. I started "heavy spotting" on my pre-op liquid…
  • Another check in here - 2 1/2 weeks post-op: I'm on to puree foods. I've basically just had soup so far. Last night a bowl of tomato soup at IHOP (ordered minestrone, tomato wasn't on the menu. Our waitress had issues and I really love tomato so I didn't complain). I purchased a bunch of soup and even some chili at the…
