I like the Kashi entrees. I've only had the vegan ones so I don't know how the ones with chicken are. The Mayan Harvest Bake is my favorite.

If you feel adventurous, check out Ottolenghi's books Plenty and Plenty More. He is a magician with vegetables!

I just got a Fitbit for Christmas and I'm trying to figure out what app I like more. I think it'll take a little figuring out because yesterday I was 700 cal under (!!!) but today I'm way over. Confusing.

This is helpful! Thanks!

I split beers with my husband now, and alternate with seltzer. That way if we split 2 beers it's really just 1. Also, I'm a hop head, so I find that splitting 2 really flavorful/hoppy beers is satisfying.

1. Finish a half marathon under my current PR 2. Improve my horseback riding so I can take a lesson with another horse & rider at the same time (this is harder than it looks, I'm told). 3. Finally fit back into this great pair of blue pants I haven't been able to wear in several years.

I got one too! Somehow said I was 700 calories under yesterday. Today it's not syncing my steps at all, and it counted my horse riding as my own steps (went from 2000 to 8000 after I hopped off the pony). I assume it takes some time to get used to, so I'll keep noodling with it.

My goal was 30 miles. 12/24 hit 31.6 and I'll probably run tomorrow, too. Attainable goals FTW! ;-)

Christmas Eve - latkes with homemade cranberry applesauce (because we forgot to make them during Hanukkah) Christmas Day - homemade ramen noodles with homemade broth and pulled pork. And either a bottle of Hill Farmstead Birth of Tragedy (aged vanilla porter so magical you just have to sit down) or a red wine. Maybe…

It's dark when I leave for work & dark when I go home. It'll be nice to have the light back! I also really like the very pale blue the sky sometimes is on winter mornings. It's lovely.

Ooh. I had pulled pork eggs Benedict at a bbq place in Rhode Island a few years ago. Was on cornbread instead of an English muffin. So, so, so good. Definitely only a once in a while treat!

I went to 2 family events, about 6 months apart. A relative posted a bunch of photos on fb the first time, and I looked horrible in them. The worst, I think, was due to a very weird angle. The second time - different dress, different odd angle, still very bad. A friend of mine shed about 15 lbs doing MFP, so I thought I'd…

I had some lemon tart with very fruity, tart homemade lemon curd. It was almost pucker-inducing, and it was delicious.

The Milos Special. This is very specific and possibly my favorite thing ever. Milos is a Greek seafood restaurant in Montreal, although there are also locations in NYC & Vegas and maybe Tokyo. Anyway, it's this tower of flash fried very, very, very thin zucchini & eggplant slices served with tzatsiki made from this…

Maybe try easing in by going meatless a day (or several) per week while building up a repertoire of recipes you like? We did that at my house, and while we still eat meat, we've found we really like our meatless foods so we eat them a lot.

What's no sugar added maple syrup? I live in Vermont where maple syrup is a specific thing and is very serious business. If it's not maple syrup, it's not called that.

I don't like how fat free yogurt feels in my mouth. I usually get 2% and that seems to work.

I like dried mango slices, partly because they require a lot of chewing. I find when I want a snack 2 or 3 is enough because of the difficulty factor. I also pre-weigh individual serving baggies/containers of nuts or seeds. A hard boiled egg is a pretty good snack too.

Sometimes if I want sweets I have some kind of spicy herbal tea instead. No calories, but flavor and it often satisfies whatever I was wanting.

I went way off track at my holiday party the other night. The food was amazing and I regret nothing. I did get really full, though, because I'm not used to eating big portions anymore.

Try these meatballs! They call for ground turkey but you could probably use ground chicken. These are so good! http://www.ottolenghi.co.uk/turkey-and-sweetcorn-meatballs-with-roasted-pepper-sauce-method-shop

Your salad sounds delicious. I call that an automatic win.

I manually enter my treadmill runs into Runkeeper. It mostly makes a list but it works pretty well for keeping track.

I change for the gym while I'm at work. That way if I don't go I feel silly that I changed and just went home.

When I was 20 I gave up coffee for Lent and it was the absolute worst. Now I usually have a cup or 2 with a splash of milk. Once in a while I'll get a latte or a cappuccino as a treat but I don't tend to put anything in them. I've never had one of those milkshake-type coffee drinks from the chain places. Seems like they'd…

Never. I don't own a scale. I get fixated on the number being the representation of what I am or should be, and am always disappointed with what the number is. I have never looked at the scale and thought, "hm, I'm glad I know that."
-
Way to go! Good luck with the rest of the program. It's great and definitely will get you ready for a 5k!

I had a horse riding lesson. Didn't burn as many calories as when I go to the gym, but any time I get to spend sitting on a horse more than makes up for that.
-
I don't have a scale so I don't know my weight. But.... A year ago I had started to put on some pounds. I hurt myself in October of 2014 and didn't know what I did or what to do. I had a searing, burning pain in my hip and I assumed it was some kind of hip tendon problem. I rested a lot and thought it would go away. It…

I haven't had tamales in ages. That sounds so good!
