I echo all of the above. I thought I had slowed down, but it wasn't until quite a few weeks in that I actually realised how slow I needed to be at that point. As already said, it doesn't matter if you run more slowly than you walk. You will gradually speed up later. I graduated in December and I'm still working on speed,…

Been veggie for 30 years this year. Been here since October and lost about 38lbs so far. Still a way to go yet, but not sure of my ultimate goal.

Been a good weekend so far. I know we are going out for a big family lunch in annitslian restaurant that I love, but haven't been to in 5 years, so I ate less yesterday, went to the gym, just had a 9k run and I'll skip breakfast (unheard of for me but it's a really early lunch), so I should fit some delicious Italian food…

Well, yesterday was a good day, do hopefully I'm back on it. I've been here since mid-October, I've had a few splurge days, but logged everyday until the past week (apart from New Year's Eve). So, I've tried to take the advice above and learn from this. I've learnt that I can do this when I am obsessive - I log, exercise,…

I'm in the UK too, and started in a similar position to you in October. Always glad of more friends to help me stay on track.
-
I'm really glad I posted on here. You've given me the boost I needed to get the momentum back. I hope!
-
Thank you. I'm determined to get back on track today. Really shocked how easy it is to let things slide.

I joined a gym last week, and I know exactly how you feel. I wasn't at work last week, and the gym was fairly quiet during the day when I was there. This week I've been going after work, and it's been much busier. Tonight was the busiest yet, and I did feel self-conscious. It's only open till 10pm so there's not much…

I'm in the same position - running 3-4 times a week. I joined a gym a few days ago to incorporate strength training. Had my induction yesterday and I've got a programme to start with which includes core and strength training.

Me too. Been here since October and lost 35lb so far.
-
Me too!

Octo-lacto vegetarian here, since 1986. I was vegan for 10 of those years. Currently lost 35lb, with quite a bit to go yet - unsure of final goal. Feel free to add me.

I've not heard of pumpkin pie spice. Protein powder is also an alien concept for me!! I'm learning about lots of new things on here!
-
So how did you make the pumpkin oats?
-
I would like to think that this is correct, as this would mean that I have not far to go. But it is not what I have read. Where did you hear this?
-
Ahh - shake it all up! I missed this!! Must try them with cocoa powder. I think I need one of those jars!
-
I'm in England.
-
Oh yes - chia seeds. I'll put some in next time. I don't really eat peanut butter - I'm in the UK and I don't think we eat as much of it here. I'll try banana though. Why the masons jar? I just put it in my usual cereal bowl yesterday. Does it make a difference? And how do you make pumpkin pie oats?

I've been here since October and have lost 35lb so far. Not sure what my ultimate goal is so not sure how much I've got left to use, but I certainly have a way to go yet. Always happy to have more friends on here for motivation.

I bought my Charge HR in October. I love it. It definitely makes me more motivated to reach particular targets, and it is fun trying to compete against other people. I love all the statistics it gives me - and I knew when I bought it that I would be motivated by that. Depends on what motivates you I guess, but it works for…

Another teacher here. And I really notice the difference between teaching days and days of courses or meetings. Half term here at the mo so I'm able to get extra steps!

Diabetes uk says had way between hip bone and bottom rib. Which is more or less where I'm measuring. My narrowest bit is quite a lot higher than that. Either way, I'll just keep on going!
-
I'm measuring more or less where diabetes uk says to measure.
-
(Measuring around the point just below the belly button - not the narrowest part)

Yes it has decreased, and the more it decreases, the lower my risk will be. However today my waist measurement is 96cm and my BMI is 25.3, so it feels like I still have an enormous job to do with my waist, despite being only just above what might be considered a "healthy" weight according to BMI. Losing another 16cm from…
-
Yes, I guess that I'm realising that a goal of a "healthy BMI" is pretty meaningless now I am practically there! Just a shifting of goals, I guess, although reducing my diabetes risk was always the primary aim. Still, I'm in no rush, and I'm really pleased with how far I have already come.

I haven't done yet- just cardio, but I've found a gym, and I'm joining today, because I feel that I need to do more than the running/walking/exercise bike that I'm doing at the moment. Really happy with the weight loss - although it has inevitably slowed down - but feel I need to add something to the exercise I'm doing.

I love hummus, but can't stop myself from eating the entire pot, so I have to save it for treats. Another vote for air popped popcorn. I also spray a little olive oil on, then sprinkle with chilli. I'd love to sprinkle with salt but I know how much I love salt so try to avoid adding it to food. Another favourite is edamame…

Thanks everyone. Some really good advice. I'm definitely hoping that it will have an affect on my running too. I started running because I felt totally unfit and I thought it might help me to lose weight (along with changes to my diet). I didn't expect to love running! But now that I've lost weight (still some way to go) I…

Thank you. How about "I want to look good and feel good" as a goal?!
