  • Yes, it involves a lot of grip, my hands have definitely gotten MUCH stronger but I know I would benefit from a grip trainer as you suggested. I'll put those on the list to buy! Thanks for the tip! I would have been taking my creatine and drinking coffee! I will split them up. Now for the pre-workout, when you say "acute…
  • Thank you! My first year involved MANY days I seriously wondered what I was thinking haha! I wouldn't go back now though. Good to know! Reading the list of protein supplement suggestions can be overwhelming, and I was considering focusing on one that had BCAAs. After what you said, I will add these to see how I feel on…
  • 27, 5’ SW: 127 lb GW: 123 lb 2/4: 127 lb (Better than the 131 I saw on the scale yesterday!) That’s what happens post-Super Bowl 😩 I’ve been fighting some sort of cold the past week or so, and believe I am losing. Fatigue/general aches/headache over the weekend into Monday. Today, coughing (the congested sort), fatigue,…

  • 27, 5' SW: 125 lb GW: 123 lb Goal #1: get back into the habit of eating more well-rounded meals (more veggies!) • I feel you there. Do you weigh or measure your food? I find it soooo easy to overindulge as I can eat A LOT of food. I've eaten steaks the size of a dinner plate and 2" thick without batting an eye. Along with sides. And then had room for ice cream a half hour later :# I've spent a lot of time through the years measuring…

  • Yes, the original. The first phase is low carb (I should say when I look it up, 20-60g is considered low-carb). As a whole, it's not low carb. I'm referring to the first phase in this post. Second phase is a breeze :)
  • It does! I’ve never thought of using it for anything other than pasta or lasagna, but it’s so rich! I find it more filling also. Glad I finally tried that dessert trick!
  • That’s what I thought about it! My grandmother was into eating well and would do the SB diet. I actually got the old blue book from her. Slow carb is a better term for it, that’s what I like. It seemed to help me take my cravings back under control, but also more or less taught you how to balance your meals. Thanks! I also…
  • I personally changed my macros because I need more protein, and wanted to try to get fewer carbs (or try to get in the habit at least). I set my macros to 35/35/30. Protein is the key to building muscle and I don't think they set it high enough, personally.

  • Good to know! I’ll have to experiment with that when I bake. I bought coconut flour a couple years ago (I believe lower carb as well?) and was NOT impressed. Till I read the directions which said to replace only half of the flour with it 😂 oops
  • I personally set mine to “sedentary” and just add in the activity on my own. My job and general lifestyle is active, but I would rather have the calories set lower. If it’s not too nosy, what are your stats? I’m currently 125 lb at 5’. I shoot for 1,200-1,300 calories, but will eat closer to 1,500 if I’m extra hungry or…
  • @lemurcat2 I'll check it out! Thanks! Just want to clarify, I don't want to do a Keto diet. It seems that South Beach isn't as low carb as keto, and I want to shoot for at least 90g protein. I'm also realizing (based on some of the replies plus from a lot of good nutrition advice I've seen on here from people who have been…
  • So it occurs to me that this is for January 2020 (which is almost over)...not for 2020 itself! Therefore, I'm making a few changes to my GW and goals for the month lol! 27, 5' SW: 125 lb GW: 123 lb Goal #1: get back into the habit of eating more well-rounded meals (more veggies!) Goal #2: run on the treadmill Goal #3:…
  • 27, 5' SW: 125 lb GW: 115 lb Goal #1: get back into the habit of eating more well-rounded meals (more veggies!) Goal #3: start running consistently on the treadmill again (even if it's 2 or 3 miles only) in preparation for…
  • I have the old blue book too, I don't keep ricotta on hand so replaced it with cottage cheese instead. I just got ricotta this time to try it though! That's what I'm planning on doing for snack tonight. I'm not wild about the first two weeks hah...I honestly miss granola and wild rice the most...both of which you can start…
  • I honestly was indifferent before I started dating my boyfriend. Until then, I mostly dated guys with no facial hair or a lot less. He has a pretty sweet beard going on and I love it now :D And to the people who worry about cleanliness....don't. You can have a long beard and still stay clean. Having a beard doesn't make…
  • On a side note, that pole dancing looks like fun and a kick *kitten* workout!
  • Lucky you, I love dessert way too much. I've used stevia in my coffee for years now so I don't mind the sugar-replacements. I've also used Splenda in recipes and don't find it to significantly change the flavor (but maybe it's because I'm used to it?) I loved the results the last time. I tend to get obsessive about things…
  • @lemurcat2 yes, phase 1 basically eliminates all starches and sugar. Phase 2, you begin adding in more food again (like "healthy" starches such as brown rice, wild rice, wheat pasta, certain fruits, etc.) Phase 3, your unlimited, but the idea is to have already retrained your mind and body to habitually stick with a more…
  • Aw that's great!! I have friends who met on pof and other dating sites who got married. I would PREFER not going that way, but in all honesty, I met a couple guys through pof who were awesome. I managed to screw it up, but if you weed out the weirdos, it's definitely a great way to go. I just feel like I'm trying to…
  • Okay, this makes me kinda sad actually. I would much rather have a guy (even one I'm not interested in) approach me in real, physical life, than have to rely on online dating. Yes, I do have dating apps. BUT, I would much rather meet a guy in person. Nothing makes me feel more like a loser than saying, "we met on POF or…
  • Honestly, I've heard people into serious weight lifting that said it was geared more for beginners. In my humble opinion (and I'm not into lifting for aesthetics), it's a solid workout for anyone who's main goal is to be fit for everyday life. My jobs require me to be physically fit, but I also don't have a lot of time for…
  • If I'm going to dinner with friends/at a friend's house, I do my best to fast through the day. I don't always succeed though. Like brittyn3 said, if you feel comfortable, just explain you're watching what you eat so they understand/aren't offended. My weakness is alcohol...I tend to fill up on that rather than the food. I…
  • I'm siding with the minority. Even if I'm not interested in the guy, I take it as a compliment that they say something (provided it's not creepy). Probably is best to wait till they're done their workout though, like others said. Nothing more annoying than being in the zone and someone interrupts! If my headphones are in,…
