I work with Alzheimers/Dementia patients. I would love to see any results first hand. Unfortunately I'm not a dietary staff :( They feed the people really well, but what kills me is all the cookies, cakes, puddings, brownies, etc. Several diabetics in my unit. I remember we had hot dog and ice cream day once and later in…

Now this I didn't know. Thanks for sharing. Would it be as easy as keeping a glucose monitor around if one with these issues continued a keto lifestyle, I wonder?I only ask for sake of conversation. You never know when it'll come up haha. Plus you know some people won't go to the doctor, even if they knowingly have a…

Ina smoothie? EW! You gotta bake it with olive oil and garlic and make kale chips for it to be edible lol
-
Ketone strips, I just bought some today and haven't had the chance to try them yet. I keep chugging water lol I'm so excited to use them

I read that hypnosis really works, too. YMMV, OP. Do what works for you.

I hate any kind of shopping, usually. Clothes, grocery, etc. Well, I hate UNPLANNED shopping.

Me! I don't log my meals though....yet...because I suck. I really ought to start. I'm still losing weight though :p

@JennB629 Machines often can be off when calculating a caloric loss, so I'd be cautious. Back when I was using the exercise bike I always underestimated whatever it told me by about 100-150 calories. I don't know if anyone else does that though. I'd rather be doing more and thinking I'm doing less, though, than doing less…

Fiancé and I found this great place with very keto friendly meals. Here's mine: the cob salad! With ham, eggs, bacon, etc. in the background you can see their fabulous pork rind nachos we tore into before I could get a good picture.

@KnitOrMiss I'm happy to report that 14 days in and I'm doing great. I started cutting out regular pop and replacing it with Coke Zero. I had 2 a day, then went down to 1, and now it's a couple times a week--maybe. I'm not craving it often at all, I find. Usually only when I see someone else drinking soda, or when I eat…

I have one my mom gave me. You can't see the label anymore unfortunately. I don't know if the science behind it is real, but I do turn it on when I first wake up (6pm usually--I work nightshift) and sit near it and watch tv or eat or whatever before work for 20-40 minutes. I do feel more awake. I also take vitamin d and…

why wouldn't they be?

So far I've been avoiding them, aside from Fat Bombs. I've been wanting to try a LC cheesecake recipe though. Funnily enough I noticed something yesterday. I generally don't like hot coffee. I like my cold coffee sugary. But hot, sugary coffee? gag. I decided to try a cup with heavy whipping cream instead of half and half…

Yeah, the calories are kinda meh. Some people don't mind eating 300-400 for dinner, some do. It's still delicious!

@deksgrl true, true. That's a good point. I usually go out once every 2 weeks and buy us each a 1lb bag of almonds, so he has those to snack on (he can go through the bag in 2 weeks, I haven't gone through mine yet). I get paid friday so I'm going to load up on string cheese and beef jerky and a couple more snacky items.…

I tried this one recently and it was a huge hit with us: Hellman's Parmesean Crusted Chicken You can use another cheese but we definitely both liked it. I always cook it in a shallow pan, because the mayo makes it very liquidy and greasy. I don't think you could do it on a cookie sheet, but maybe if you tweaked it and used…

Turned down cookies, cake, brownies and peanut brittle at work!

Broccoli chicken Alfredo with heavy cream sauce and shirataki noodles yum

I love Bento boxes! I really need to get another one, thank you for reminding me! IThey're so cute and SO useful!
-
Maybe swap out the nachos and any breading for pork rinds to start with? If he likes pasta, check out Pasta Zero (shirataki noodles). Make little changes first. Like @queenliz99 and @brianpperkins said you don't have to go low carb to lose weight, but if you want to, go for it.

They do have a gelatinous texture, but not in a bad way. I don't find them off-putting at all, tbh. They just remind me of those little glass noodles you get in the asian isle, just thicker. They're flavorless though, which is nice because they can be added to basically anything. I actually just finished making some…

Pasta Zero! Fiance and I had it with some Rao's sauce a few nights ago and it was awesome! Tastes just like the real thing. Actually, he even took leftovers with him to work and they lasted, unlike real spaghetti noodles which sometimes getmushy and suck up the sauce. Check them out if you're into them! here they come in a…

Oh crap! I thought I was in the LCHF area. My bad! But thanks for the replies :) I'lll be sure to try that new recipe once I go grocery shopping...kinda used up the last of my supplies on fail cakes lol

That is true... @Lovee_Dove7 I have this bad habit, I think I get it from my military-father, I'm very "ALL" or "NOTHING." Sometimes it causes me to get a little obsessive. I also think it's part of past disordered eating. I'm trying to be patient, really, I am. It just bothers me--I don't even think I'm in ketosis right…
-
I still need to get a food scale...I think I get paid this upcoming Friday.
-
@rankinsect that sounds fine and dandy...I guess I'm just getting in that paranoid state I get, thinking, I don't want to waste this entire month and not see any losses. I simply can't exercise right now. I've tried, and I'm braindead. I work with Alzheimers and Dementia patients and I just...don't have the brain power to…

It was tilapia cooked in mayo with fontina cheese on top, and baked broccoli with parmesean on top. Is that still too low fat, or does that sound better? Still trying to get used to adding more fat

I'm third shift too. I usually make whatever for dinner and eat it at 10-11PM when I get into work. Then I don't eat again until 3PM. Usually some cheese, and/or almonds. Then I eat whatever when I get home. I also bring a coke zero to work with me. Sometimes I drink it,sometimes I don't. If I get up earlier, I eat…

Oh just thought I'd another. I can't sleep unless my hands and feet are slathered in Vaseline (with socks).i also need some under my nose and on my lips.

Another sign of chronic dehydration is NOT being thirsty though. Like me. I know I'm not drinking nearly enough, but I'm just not thirsty. I'm trying really hard to drink more water but I have no desire for it. :/
