To be honest, I personally didn’t develop discipline until I failed more times than I could tolerate. I’ve been gaining and losing the same 10 pounds for 4 years and got sick of the process. When I weighed myself and I found myself back up those SAME pounds for the 6th time, I legitimately just got fed up. So I’m way more…

I like premium but I’m inconsistent with MFP so it ended up going to waste. I, too, thought it would motivate me more since I was paying but turns out I had no problem throwing my money away lol. If you’re just seeking motivation and not don’t want or need the premium features, I don’t recommend it because based on my…

I also think it depends on your MFP activity level. When I was a server, I kept my activity level as sedentary and ate back some of the calories from my Fitbit step count, even if it wasn’t intentional exercise. However, if I kept my MFP activity level accurate with lightly active, I wouldn’t have eaten back the calories…

I could never ever do chia seeds and I really TRIED. I also can’t do low fat cheese- the absolute worse. I’d rather just allocate 100 calories for full fat cheese than eat 50 calories of rubber

& YepitsKris thank you for sharing that & the photo! Earlier this year I was getting dressed for an event and I had to go through 3 dresses that find one that was still flattering. That was definitely not a good feeling and I don’t want to be back there, so I definitely hear what you’re saying and needed to be reminded of…

Thank you everyone! I needed that sort of perspective, since people in my daily life really just respond with “you’re fine- you don’t need to lose!”- that’s the opposite of motivating for me lol. I really like the idea of eating at maintenance for my goal weight and see how that turns out, rather than being on an…

Brunch on Sunday which consisted of... Shrimp Mac & Cheese Fried Chicken & Waffles French Fries Avocado Toast Mimosa(s) o:) I've been kinda over my calories lately anyway though lol so I've been "cheating" all week!

My ex was like this- key word ex. Granted, we didn't break up over calorie counting specifically but over his general dismissive attitude about my wants/needs/concerns. Anyway, I know you probably know all the tricks, like dressing on side, take half home, etc so I don't think that kind of advice is helpful. What might…

I wrote a post a couple months ago about a little girl I babysit who also struggled with her weight. What I’ve learned from my experience from that and the previous advice I received is to absolutely not make it about weight or appearance. Make it about health and part of that is being careful about how you discuss your…

Amy's Mac n Cheese. I can eat 5 and still want more

Her parents are not overweight. It's not me not wanting to help- it's me not wanting to further damage a child's relationship with food when there are already issues present with Kayla. That's why there's conflict. Like other have suggested, I'll happily abide by the guidelines a doctor or parents give me for Kayla but I'm…

I mentioned them because that's the food she has "access" to other than food I make her and I agree with this. I've considered the possibility of her buying snacks but she very well may be eating two lunches, or 1 and a half. I used to do that :o I'll definitely bring this up to her parents because this seems like a good…

Here are their lunch choices: Pizza Chicken Patty Nachos Any specials (like meatloaf or pasta they make daily) There's also a salad area. They can also buy candy like gummy bears, chocolate, chips, doritos, etc but the lunch lady only lets them buy 2 different snacks with their lunch. Drinks are milk or juice

I typed this out before then it disappeared so I'm sorry if it's a double post! Food I make her is pretty well balanced. Lunch is often a sandwich or a burrito with healthy swaps. Sandwiches are basic like grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, little mayo with a side of veggies and dip (dip is also proportione for her).…

Oops I messed that quote up sorry!

[quote="ngarci11;c-40084651"All you have to do is be a supporting figure, not a nutritionist. [/quote] This is what I'm comfortable with being too- supportive but not like some sort of authority figure regarding weight. Like making her healthy food, taking her on walks, and listening to her as another user recommended as…

I've never quoted before so sorry if this turns out formatted incorrectly! This is what worries me specifically. I feel like I don't want to be the one to introduce her to the internet world of dieting (we all know there's so much bad advice there). I don't even want her to know that she is able to find diet advice online.…

Thank you for all the input. I'm not sure if her parents have contacted a doctor- I doubt it to be honest. From what they've expressed to me, they see her weight as a direct result from overeating and lack of self restraint and not from a medication standpoint. Her parents are not heavy. I feel like part of the reason…
