I guess hearing people ask if you lost weight is good sign...either you have or good fashion :-). How do your clothes fit? That tells me as often as not if I'm losing fat and gaining muscle. I have a major issue with trying to lose weight. My problem is that I don't really know what my "muscle" weight is as I do lift…

I'm someone whom believes breakfast is important. It gives you an energy start for your day, and there are many healthy options for eating. I agree, from a weight loss standpoint, what you eat is far more important than when you eat it.

The answer to why your body hurts if you run is your weight and overall muscle fitness. I use to be a long distance runner, but now, with my weight gain, I just end up hurting my body if I try to do it. Alternatives, as you said are walking, and as someone else mentioned, just any other physical activity that keeps you…

Well, while I agree that compound moves are great, I do think that use of lower weights with higher (10-15) reps is better than heavier weights with fewer reps, especially for back and legs, if you want to limit bulk. At my gym, I see a lot of alternatives to just weight lifting for toning and non-bulky muscle building.…

As a guy, if I don't know the woman, then being visually attracted to her is a critical initial factor in deciding if I approach her. Then, for me, yes, a woman whom is in reasonably good shape is what attracts me. However, if I "know" the person, and they have a happy, friendly personality, and / or impress me with their…

Freezerburne....I think I love you lol...BACON ! Geez, eggs are a mainstay with me...then healthiest cereals ...sometimes smoked salmon on toast or rice crackers...but also chocolate almond milk with my "got everything you need in it" powder drink. You will probably find if you have a few alternate days, then eggs are good…

When I was working, and had a wife and daughter, I took the approach that one of us (me) would put in the time to make the "dime" , so that both of us didn't have to live to work. This allowed my wife to finish her degrees, and get a comfortable job (she still wanted to work) that was only 36 hours / week with very good…

It would be interesting to know how long you've known this guy and how you met / know him. Obviously, if he is a health nut and controls everything he eats, he might scratch his head if you order a couple of double hamburgers with cheese and bacon, and a double order of fries lol. In lieu of this situation, if you can't be…

Do something sensible to start...but do something. Maybe get more walking or other outdoor activity for now if working out just isn't in the cards. Figure out when you are eating, and what, outside of normal meal times...try to work in healthiest alternatives as often as possible. My core advice it that it is easier to…

Jeepers man...now I'm hungry for 5 guys :-) . If you are gonna cheat...5 guys is a good one !

Just to let you know you aren't alone ! I also need to lose that much, however, I have been working out for quite a while now, and its been hard for me. However, despite little weight loss, people keep telling me I'm thinning out...I'll take it . However, I have now added much more aerobic to my routine, and really…

I hit the logging fatigue very early on, and have stopped. While I do see the advantage of tracking, I just can't / don't want to spend the time doing it. For one, I think the exercise part, for me, is a waste of time as I have it all in my head and know what to do. Also, not sure the tool calculates calories spent…

Depending on where you live it could be the "winter" blues, could be stress from life situations, could be you need to make some minor diet changes...are you getting too much sugar? I would also say vitamin D should be a check, but I guess you covered that with tests. Generally, I find I'm somewhat "tired" but when I get…

I agree with above comments. The thing about abs is that you can work them out "outside" your normal routine in order to reduce time of main workouts. Planks are good, and having a strong mid-section, as others have said, is good for back support. However, we have to lose the fat to eventually see the abs so don't spend an…

I am not an expert on these gadgets, but from what I've read, there are several choices with different price ranges, and I'm sure functionality. Might be good to do research before buying to ensure you get what you want for the best price / functionality.

My wife is looking at this product line. Is it better than others? We have an office / store, or whatever it is, not far from our home so might be good choice. Please let me know if you reviewed others and why JC...thanks.

My spouse doesn't discourage me, but seems to enjoy pointing out my "bad" days :-) . I noticed she is complaining more about her weight gain, so maybe by-product of me getting in shape. She also has a much higher "likable" weight for me than I am shooting for...she said I won't look good at my target weight. I work out so…

From an exercise perspective, just remember you don't have to do everything at the same time. Try to make a few 5-10 minute intervals during the day...have a routine set up on different body parts or some quick aerobics...jump rope for 5 minutes, if you can :-). Key is to prevent getting in mind set to not do it because…

Hey everyone...I'm in. I have somewhere between 50-80 to lose...I really am gonna do it !. Please add me as friend if you like, I'll be active in here so not a dead friend :-). I know it won't be easy, and I really need to look at what other people are doing eating wise, as that's my downfall. I have the exercise part…

Not sure how much I will lose, if I can. Could be 50-80 pounds over long haul, but I just don't know what my body will give up lol. I do have a lot of muscle mass, and at 62, I'm just not sure what my body really is anymore. I'd settle for being around the 200 mark, if I felt I was aerobically sound, but 180 (less?), would…

hey ! The one question I have is did you just start or start back working out? If so, in the short term you might be seeing some extra muscle gain? Also, when I lost 40 plus pounds (put it back on unfortunately...my fault), I would see very little loss, then "boom", I see 5-10 over shorter period of time, then plateau…

I think, out of all approaches, the one you are using is best for long term weight control. Sometimes it helps to see a quick loss, but, almost always, the process isn't sustainable. It can be done, and you can do it ! Exercise regime would help, but that can be just chasing the kids around...just keep moving!

Being able to feel satisfied without eating all your "allowance" isn't a bad thing :-). Working out 2-3 hours a day seems like a lot, depending on what you mean by working out. Would appear you have a good combo going for weight loss and conditioning; if anything overdoing it, but just not enough information...i.e. what…

Obreindp, I think it does get harder when you get older. However, so much depends on your current physical and health condition...maybe mental too, a bit. I'm 62 but have worked out all my life, so today, I'm still lifting weights and able to walk the beach for a few hours, or hit the aerobic machines. However, it is hard…

Well, I think the above people have pretty well said it all. One question is does your husband stay in shape? Sometimes a spouse, besides all the other above reasons, doesn't like you to "get in shape" as it can be a constant reminder they aren't, and they don't like the way they look...of course, then all the other…

I agree with FrancI27 that overall technology has probably led us to be less physically active..one just needs to look at children today. We use to gather to play baseball, football, ride bikes...just don't see that type of thing today, unless organized. As far as technological devices helping with fitness..without…

It is frustrating,, but also depends on our expectations and goals. I go to the gym, I walk on the beach for a few hours 2-3 times a week, and have also started to work in aerobics. I was eating fairly well..would lose a few, gain them back. So don't feel "special" lol. I actually joined a new gym (have 2 now), that opened…

The yolks is where its at....i.e. probably 80% of the nutrients. Unless you have a major cholesterol problem, you would be wasting the best part of the egg. Eat it. Don't eat the substitute stuff...junk like "bag popcorn".

I hate logging anything...even making a grocery list. However, I find myself compelled to keep up my food log now as I want to truly figure out what I'm doing and to make some eating adjustments. Actually, I don't weigh stuff ...I just try to be reasonable or overestimate to be conservative. I definitely don't log the…

Hey Makoce...been there done that too. Lost almost 50 pounds, and put it back on. Yet, I did workout, just that other things took their toll. Definitely eating breakfast is good, but I know what you mean in that it seems to then not allow you much for the rest of the day. My first thought, without knowing details, is…
