  • Yes, in general women with pcos can build muscle faster than the average woman. It has to do with the excess testosterone produced by the pcos.
  • Thanks everyone for the insight, your comments were very helpful! I will continue lifting and managing my diet and see where it gets me!
  • I'm not too concerned about not being able to build muscle since I already build muscle much faster than most women, but I don't want to lose it either
  • I have considered a keto diet as it is supposed to be really good for pcos. I even tried it for two weeks and actually got my period for the first time in months (amenorrhea is a symptom of pcos) but my biggest struggle with it is I love fruit! But fruit is full of carbs
  • So then can I still gain muscle at the same time?
  • Thanks is everyone, I will give some of these a try!
  • All of the above suggestions are worth looking into. Also, do you eat a lot of protein bars? The sugar alcohols in them have been known to cause bloat.

  • Congrats everyone! I have been married almost 3 years and have put on a few extra pounds that I'm hoping to lose. (obviously) I'm not getting married this year but I am the matron of honor in my friends wedding in July and would like to lose 10 lbs by then! I'm hoping to shed at least 5 by Valentine's day. Feel free to add…
  • I'm in! My goal is to eat less than 1300 calories every day and not eat any fried food!! (I work in a restaraunts so there are always extra fries for us to nibble on... Such a diet buster!) This time I am going to just focus on my daily diet goal (and continue exercising as I already do) and not obsess over the number. At…
  • Awesome job to those of you that accomplished your goals and for everyone who made progress! You guys are an inspiration to me. I did not meet my goal but I learned a lot along the way and feel good going forward
  • You might as well be describing me! 5'3 124, lots of muscle but hidden under a small layer of fat. I'm having a hard time keeping my calories in check because the amount of exercise I do leaves me hungry all the time!! Feel free to add me, I'd love to bounce ideas around
  • One week left, I probably won't be able to reach my goal but I will still try to get as close as I can. I ate pretty bad the past few days but finally established a new plan that I am excited about going forward!
  • Fluctuated up again but I'm not too worried, my body feels more toned so I am happy. Been super busy lately so I haven't been eating the best. I have been overdoing it on the red wine and chocolate (at least it's dark though)!
  • Sw 124 Cw 123.8 Gw 120 Two weeks left everyone, keep up the good work! After gaining 2 lbs I am finally back down under my start weight and on the right track! Upping my protein has helped a lot even though I have gone over my calorie limit a few times. Also, I seem to do better when I log my food before I eat it, it helps…
  • Had a super busy day yesterday and wasn't able to log. I'm a little frustrated with my weight, I have actually been gaining weight! Hard to tell how much of it is muscle verses fat. I am finally coming to terms with the fact that I need to be extremely precise with my calories. My plan for this weekend is to continue…
  • This is exactly my goal! 125 going for 115! Feel free to add me!

  • Thanks for your support! You are right, everyone's body is different and responds better to different macro ratios. The last time I successfully lost weight was when I was not eating any gluten (I was on an elimination diet to weed out allergies). I'm hoping to have success this time around too as I focus on eating lots of…
  • I'm adding a new component to my own personal plan: I'm going to cut out bread and other processed grains for the remainder of the challenge. (I recognize this is a controversial choice and understand the need to get enough fiber and the vitamins found in bread from other sources to maintain a balanced diet. This is a…
  • January 27 CW 125 GW120 Still no weight loss, I have been stress eating, grr! Haven't been able to go to the gym yet today but hopefully will be able to later, I'm already over my calorie goal. Tomorrow is a new day though, a new opportunity to eat well. I need to focus on increasing my protein so I am not hungry all the…
  • January 26 Start weight:124 Goal: 120 Current: 125 Progress: unfortunately, I had a midnight snack last night which I think affected my number. Usually I weight myself in the morning before eating but this morning my stomach was still full of food, hence the weight increase. On a positive note, I have been consistent at…
  • My goals are very similar! Feel free to add
  • This is my life! I am skinny by a lot of people's standards and do have a lot of muscle but its hiding behind about 10lbs of fat! I'm sick of people getting insecure about themselves when I talk about losing weight - as if I am judging them because they may be heavier.
  • Jan 25: Start weight: 124 Goal weight: 120 Plan: log everything I eat and stay under my calorie limit Progress: Today I went to the gym and got an awesome workout in, so far have not exceeded my calorie limit. This morning I ate to much for breakfast though so I have to be extra disciplined the rest of the day, tomorrow I…

  • I'm in a similar boat, my metabolism isn't what it used to be even though I exercise faithfully. I am working on my eating habits, feel free to add me,
  • Welcome to MFP, this is a great place for support and encouragement! Feel free to add me
  • Open your diary so others can see it. Knowing others are looking at my food motivates me to make better choices!
  • Ahh trail mix... One of my biggest weaknesses!
