  • I am not even the same size SHOE in all shops. Are we vanity sizing feet now? I have some that are a 4, some are a 6. Clothing is anywhere from an age 13 years to a ladies size 16. I'm short, so the age 13 thing makes some sense but I can also be a ladies size 16? (UK sizes!) The 16 came from a shop known to size crazy but…
  • I have stopped bringing my card to work as the canteen is card-only; they don't have the facilities to take cash. The food for staff is actually good BUT it is only free if you do a duty. Playground duty? At secondary? In a boy-heavy school? In the pissing rain? You know, I'm suddenly not so keen on that free food all of a…
  • I'm really short and really sedentary. 1,200 isn't actually that low for me. Case by case judgements rather than blanket judgements.
  • Cooking the food generally goes well, and the pots/oans/food rarely burns. The only problem is, I usually end up cooking myself in the process. I have a really quite impressive collection of burn scars now. I'm surprised all my fingers are still attached sometimes.
  • I thought something wasn't quite right with my cycle when I was 11 years old. I wasn't taken seriously until a few months ago and was finally diagnosed with PCOS two weeks ago. In all that time, four periods a year was deemed acceptable as between 0 and 3 periods a year was the point to 'investigate and intervene' so 4…
  • My daily calories run from the time I get up till the time I go to bed. During the weekends I will go to bed past midnight. For example, I wake up in Saturday morning and will go to bed at 1:30am Sunday morning. The calories I eat past midnight will still be logged as Saturdays food. When I wake up Sunday lunchtime, then…
  • I would not have changed anything!! I regained because of the antidepressants I was taking and because I couldn't log while sectioned after a suicide attempt. It was what I needed at the time so I'd change nothing.
  • Pesto. My beloved pesto. It is quite oily so I'm experimenting with it. The ones that annoy me the most are ones that claim to be a 'healthy option' but are not. A tuna and sweetcorn sandwich from the uni cafe has fewer calories and less sodium and sugar than the 'light options' tuna and sweetcorn sandwich. Still not…
  • I own none of those things I'm afraid. I've never heard of Lean Cuisine, are they avalibe in Britain do you know? But steaming veggies is something I can do, I have fresh to hand rather than frozen but that is doable! Can't do smoothies as I don't own a blender but the rest is good!
  • Mirtazapine messed me up. I switched from an SRRI to it and I gained 17lbs in two months although my intake went down because I just wasn't hungry. I was also sleeping more, 11:30pm to 2:00 the next afternoon so that may have been what did it, though I must have not moved at all as my intake was hovering around the 1,000…
  • I have been diagnosed with an eating disorder. I told a few people and they said they didn't believe me because I'm not underweight. Not everyone with an eating disorder is underweight!! I have ARFID, and people with EDNOS or BED are not always stick-thin. It annoys me when people don't believe me because I "don't look…
  • I use this site to track what I have eaten. I can look back and see what I ate but not why I ate it. Tracking things like my mood, sleep, medications, symptoms of things I've been diagnosed with, period, what I've done during the day; that enables me to see why I eat / want to eat certain things. If my asthma is bad I have…
  • Honestly, I've never used salad dressing until recently. Spinich, rocket, cucumber, sweetcorn, tomato, carrot, rasins and beetroot is my usual go-to and it tastes good without any dressing at all. If I put salad dressing on then that's all I can taste!! I weight almost everything. I don't weigh the amount of marmite I use,…
  • Have you tried odd? I hear it's easier... OP- No, I haven't as I don't have Netflix. I wonder if I can get it some other way. I have to say, I did Google who bill nye was, it seems virtually everyone knows who he is in America but in the UK he's not that well known. Mind you, there must be a lot of British people other…
  • *slowly raises hand* But I like eating paper! Not newspaper, the ink rubs off, but I like eating plain white copy paper. (and yes, I do have a diagnosis of Pica ans asd before people ask) My housemate hates coffee from freshly ground coffee beans but loves instant coffee. I thinks that's odd.
  • Shocking or surprising the body in some way. People who insist you have to change up your diet and/or exercise or it'll stop working because the body gets used to it. I'm still trying to get my head around that one. Sure, the diet does need looking at now and again as the calorie goal should drop as you lose weight but the…
  • I go to sports direct for all my lycra / singlet needs. The two places fit is really important were done 'properly' with two spots bras from John Lewis and trainers from a specialist running shoe place. Sports Direct has a bad rap in some circles but I don't think it deserves it. The only issues I've ever had were caused…
  • At my worst, I was a member of a pro-anorexia website. Even there, a 28 day water only fast would be considered too much.
  • That'll be it, I can pretty much guarantee it. Not weight accurately (or at all) means you're eating more calories than you think; even pre-packed food as a 20% margin of error with their weight.
  • I have lied to my doctor because he asks totally irrelevant questions and if I answer it won't leave time for the actual issue.
  • If I ate 1800 I would gain, my maintance is 1600 so it's quite a bit over. There just isn't enough information there to trow out such advice. Also, starvation mode is a myth. OP - gaining a few pounds overnight is just water retention, likely caused by sodium. It's not gaining a few pounds of fat overnight and will soon…
  • It doesn't have to be a big fancy one with all the bells and whistles, but a digital one works better as you don't have to guesstimate when the needle is slightly off.
  • If you make your food diary public, comments can be more specific. How long have you been on your journey? Weight loss is not liner and so if it's not been that long, it might take a few weeks to start seeing results. Are you logging accurately and picking the correct database entries? There are a lot of rogue entries in…
  • I am in the healthy weigh category for my height by about 2-3 pound and maintain on around 1600. I am a sedentary, short and weigh 133lbs. I set it to maintain my weight as I am a healthy weight so if I don't hit that and lose a few pounds very slowly then fine but if I stay the same, also fine. Just as long as I don't…
  • So you have lost just over an entire 21 year old undergraduate? That amazing!!
  • A year to go from 11 stone 7 down to 9 stone 8. I got a bit overexcited the day I hit 10 stone and stopped logging for a bit, gaining back just over half of what I lost. Twice. I am now 9 stone 2 but I am aiming for 8 stone 7 or there abouts. I would probably be there by now if I stayed on track but I guess that is all…
  • I am the same height as you and 2 years younger. I am sedentary. I MAINTAIN my weight of 135lbs on 1600 calories per day. Your are netting under 1200 some days and this is undereating, beside aiming for 1200 is probably way too low for someone with your stats. Why do you cut carbs to only every other day?
  • I log every single thing but not on MFP. This site does not support Bokmål so I use an app that allows me to use that language. I stay here for the support forums which the other app doss not have. It looks like my diary is utterly empty but every single bite is logged.
  • Depends entirely on how many calories I have to play with based on if I went to the gym in the morning or not. Chicken with rice and veggies, soup, pesto pasta salad, peanut butter sandwich. Basically breakfast things because it's the weekend and I didn't get up till lunchtime. Fish and chips on a Friday though.
