I said "300 pages" of negative reviews and I only browsed first 50 pages. I believe those that involve inaccurate "step counts" due to hand motions are true because I found that out by doing laundry and blow drying my hair.

This is one guys review on AMAZON that sums it all up nicely: "If the Charge HR were a person, he would be a pathological liar. Everything about it is inaccurate. Gesturing is registered as steps. Taking the elevator at work is registered as walking up stairs. Somehow we even register steps while sleeping. At dinner the…

Your Fitbits are not counting your steps at all. They are counting your HAND MOTIONS. I borrowed my friend's for 2 days just to see. First day I had over 12,000 steps and all I did was four loads of laundry (clothes in washer, then moved to dryer, removed from dryer, then fold) and took the dog out 10 steps from my front…

The components of physical fitness: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition. So do your 10k steps per day accomplish this? NOT BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.

10,000 steps DOES NOT make somebody physically fit. That is the premise of this thread. All it does is motivate people to be more active. Active does NOT equal PHYSICALLY FIT. The "illusion" my doctor spoke about is very apparent on this forum. There wouldn't be so much defensive and angry posts if you all understood that.

But misfit doesn't have HRM

"I did not say my doctor said you "were all delusional". Go back and read original post. You are misreading what I wrote. How did this come up with my doctor? I asked him if I should get one. (I really wanted one but couldn't find one that had numbers large enough I could read without constantly putting on and yanking off…

I do sleep 8 hours at night and did come back. Nothing accusatory. Such thin skins.

I do sleep 8 hours at night. And have things to do in AM. Get over it.
-
Didn't give me even 12 hours to get back. Have things to do in morning.

Geez. I posted just last night before going to bed. 12 hours later I am being accused of being troll, throwing out my opinion and withdrawing to never return to respond, being rude, etc. My doctor has never mentioned 10k steps to me in regards to optimum health and he is big on health promotion and preventative medicine.…

Garmin Forerunner 235 is a watch for RUNNING. Can running watches be used for walking?

My father took pills for a while. Went to a health camp for two weeks to learn how to eat for both heart disease and T2D. My mother attended as well to learn how to cook for him. He cheated all thr time. We found lots of candy wrappers under car seat. Eventually had to go on insulin. Then his idiot sister (also diabetic)…

I will be one of the last to starve to death when worldwide famine hits.

Body Builders typically limit carbs to 10-30% so are taking in a lot more protein and their goal is to bulk up muscle mass. Those of us losing weight, we would like to replace the fat with healthy muscle mass (not extreme) so higher protein intake is usually fine. CATS go into kidney failure and are prescribed low protein…

A lot of misunderstanding about sleep apnea. The hallmark sign isn't snoring. It is EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness). There are two types of sleep apnea. Obstructive (OSA) and central. Everyone who snores does not have it. Besides EDS, a neck circumference more than 17" for females or 19" for males indicates fat around…

Where I live, they are always announcing "boil water" notices on the 6 PM news for various areas of the state. That usually means the bacteria count from coming from sewage treatment plant is too high to be safe by government regulations. Happens so regularly, I won't drink tap water.

Once addicted to caffeine, it is really hard to stop. You will have withdrawal symptoms if you go cold turkey. So if you want to decrease the amount of caffeine you are getting, you must do it gradually. But sounds that the real problem is the additions to coffee that add lots of extra calories. It is more likely you are…

yeah, read the conversion calculator backwards. 1 pound = .453592 kg

I avoid all breads and cereals. Just too many carbs. I do eat eggs and keep some hard boiled ones in fridge. Never have eaten sausage or bacon (vegetarian most of my life) so that isn't a problem. I don't care about how many steps I take during the day (like taking the dog outside or to the mail box). Not a significant…

Eyes too dry for contacts. Already tried that. I really hate constantly grabbing for my reading glasses or looking for them. Put a cheap pair in each room and purse. Sometimes still can't find a pair.
-
I tried Digifit with chest strap. Digifit doesn't display HR in real time do ditched it for ENDOMONDO

I use personal distiller and drink purest water possible. Would not drink store-bought didtilled water stored in those funky plastic milk jugs. That water tastes terrible. I use distilled water for other purposes, so might as well distill enough to drink. Also make ice cubes from it instead of auto ice maker.

Found a solution. I am using Polar H7 chest strap with Endomondo app on my Samsung Galaxy S4. The app shows exactly what I need to see and can see well without reading glasses on display. Duration, distance walked, current HR, pace. After walk, I get a summary with avg HR, Max HR, kcals burned. Great app. Can set it to…

But why must I pay for high end watch when I will never use most of its features?
-
I do not have poor vision. I see 20/20 with reading glasses and 20/20 at distance without glasses. I use my smartphone just fine using my reading glasses. I do no want a smart watch to receive phone calls, text messages, etc. Just an accurate fitness watch I can read without reading glasses. I am not an elderly person (age…

I didn't know that. Can I display just HR in large numbers?
-
I looked at both Polar A300 and A360. Both fuzzy perhaps because the background colored lighting doesn't contrast well with color of digital numbers. The only one that was easy to read was ft1. It is black on white and only number displayed is HR. But you must wesr chest strap.. not an optical reader.

Polar H7 chest strap arrives tomorrow and I downloaded iCardio for android to begin cardiac rehab.
