  • There is no need to apologize for losing slowly. So what if it takes a year or five or ten as then the goal is to keep it off and maintain for even longer than that. Since the only stress OP mentioned was trying to cut during the holidays season, I’m imagining the issue is all the free flowing tasty treats and eating out…
  • What you’re doing is smart. A several month maintenance break is fine because one day you will be in maintenance forever. My way of handling maintenance during the holidays is using weekly numbers. I need plenty of low days to offset the high days. I decided not to eat any the offerings at work so that I can have a little…
  • It's only antidotal but true for me. I grew up without AC in the Midwest and my first apartment with AC was in my mid twenties. Once the temperature in the house reached 93 F my appetite disappeared and eating was impossible. July and August I lived off watermelon, cottage cheese, and popsicles. It was unbearable inside so…
  • Friends say the weirdest things when they are trying to be supportive. I love my friends just the way they are so when they want to make a drastic change to improve themselves I might think the goal is overblown as I don’t see the issue as problem they need to fix. Thank them for being sweet as they are saying they don’t…
  • I gain two real pounds on vacation. I don’t do anything special when I get back and it’s usually gone in three months. I’m always drifting up and down in my range anyway so I don’t feel the need to change anything after a vacation. After the Christmas holidays, that’s a different story. That I have to intentionally lose.
  • When I was reaching maintenance two years ago I read an article, and then found the study, that said it takes a year after weight loss to for the hormone levels to adjust. One study and with not enough people for it to be definitive, but I was able to use the information. The first four months of maintenance were easy. The…
  • If I’m not very hungry I will get a coffee. If I am hungry I will get the dessert after coffee. Ice cream as dinner is my favorite. I don’t keep sweets in the house so it’s a treat and an 800 cal ice cream is more exciting than 1200 of an unappealing whatever.
  • My hunger comes the day after. So on really active days where I don’t feel like eating I let them roll over. The next day I will want them all and more.
  • For me I think it's two things- I'm quite fidgety and the Fitbit rarely catches any of that all day long movement when I'm sitting. Also the other day I was sighing that I "never" get to eat all my food as a bite was stolen from my plate. The combination of a little more burn and a little mislogging adds up.
  • Me too. My Fitbit underestimates and I can't stand the red numbers either. I set MFP to gain 0.5 lbs a week and BOOM! perfect maintenance when I close the day with 80 cals left uneaten. I love the green.
  • It varies by the day but I keep returning to 2 meals a day. I have coffee when I wake up then wait until I'm hungry to eat. 10am-11am I have lunch and it's my largest meal of the day. I'm so full I usually last until a light supper at 7:30pm. I might have yogurt or 2 egg about 4pm if hungry, bringing me to 2.5 meals that…
  • CHALLENGE #1: “FROSTBITE FOOTRACE OR IDITAROD?” 5K outside. I chose this challenge because dog walking/running is right in my wheelhouse. Saturday I put on some podcasts and we went for a run.
  • CHALLENGE #3 I ate 8 green fruits and vegetables this week. Green Grapes, Asparagus, Curly Leafed Lettuce, Avocado, Green Bell Pepper, Jalapenos, Green Beans, Broccoli
  • CHALLENGE #2: "XINGSHI IN CHINA!" I chose "XINGSHI IN CHINA!" because the videos make me laugh. Like pee my pants laughing. Also at 5-15 minutes each are easy to do on breaks from work.
  • I spent 2 hours mall walking while waiting for my tires to be installed then did the challenge #2 video. Done and done. I didn't claim all two hours walking because it was only 6,000 steps. Galen and I usually get a full 10,000 in that time so I must have dawdled a bit.
  • What a week. Work is just killing me and my exercise has suffered however my eating is still on track. Challenge #1 THE 5K FROSTBITE FOOTRACE We've covered 11.26 K this week 5K of that on Tuesday My dog Galen and I walk outside as much as we can. He needs to burn the energy and I find the time outside lifts my mood. Also…
  • It's so good to be back! Welcome to the new teammates! After all the eating with family I am up 7 lbs! I'm perversely proud of that. I expect most will drop by the end of the week and starting next week I'll know the real damage and make any needed corrections. So far this week this week I've only been out dog walking and…
  • Christmas in February is over and the last of family just left. 10 days! No one person stayed for 10 days but my guestroom has been full every night of that stint. As my computer is in that room, or rather, my computer room is where I put guests, I've only had my phone during that time. This week I did the exercise videos.…
  • Running kills my appetite. Running 6+ miles puts me off food for the whole day although I am hungry the day after. Swimming=starved. I will eat everything in sight after a swim.
  • Great QOD. I'll have to think about them. I won't make the logging challenge this week because my family can't meet at Christmas so we get together for an extended weekend in Feb instead. So starting today and ending on Sunday I'm eating all the festival food and enjoying myself. I will complete the other two.
  • Whatever works for you. I eat two times a day, sometimes a snack to push it to three. It turns out larger meals keep me full and happy for hours when eating small multiple times a day left me constantly hungry and hangry.

  • @skinnyjeanzbound, thank you for pointing out that is a "real" way of running. I already knew I wasn't changing my ways a so it's nice to have the validation. At that point I am dead. D.E.A.D. but a minute of walking and my lungs start working again and I'm good to go.
  • I came here to announce that I had finished all three challenges this week! As the page was loading I realized today is Thursday and not Friday for five days logging and that I have another day of work.... sigh... . But the dancing is done and so it 3+ miles this week outside in 15F weather (cold but beautiful). I only…
  • That is 46 min a day. It looks like I'm the first one to enter my time this week. Yay! I just entered 32 min so I had better get up and do another 14 min.
  • That is so cool about ringette. I learn so much during these races. Please keep checking in on C25K. I keep starting and I keep failing out on week 5. I feel like I'm a runner now since I go out for 4-6 miles a few times a week but I still have to break and walk every mile and half. My lungs just can't take it. I would…
  • @alipsie19, welcome to the team! @shauna30, thanks. My dedication to being thin more so than the logging. I've been chubby to fat my whole life. This is my first time being thin and I'm motivated to stay this way. Hmmmm, snacks. Well, my quick answer if the first thing I gave up is snacks. I now (mostly, everyday is…
  • I'm so glad this weeks chalange is logging. Two weeks (or is it three) without logging has started to stress me out just a little bit. And now I have to, you know, for the team.
  • This. So much this. And the smaller phone doesn't fix it either since I had the smallest available. I just spent the day waiting in line to upgrade my dead phone because there is only so many times it can fall out of the child sized pockets and not break and I surpassed that number this week. Tomorrow's agenda is phone…
  • 1. NAME: Sherri 2. FAVORITE WAY TO EXERCISE: Meh. I don't like exercising: said as I'm all bundled up in a blanket feeling miserable and cold and so wintery. I feel differently in the summer. However, I always like to play! Walking with my dog, swimming, Zombies, Run! 3. WHERE YOU ARE FROM (TOWN/STATE/PROVINCE) I live just…
