If you're specifically talking about steps not being counted in the mobile app, I've found (in iOS) that uninstalling MFP and reinstalling (and as Nancy mentioned, making sure Fitbit is set as your step counter) it will usually jumpstart it.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well so far (congrats!). You might want to stick with it for a while and see what your body does. Technically, you shouldn't need to lower it at all, unless you lose so much weight that your TDEE drops significantly or you become less active.
