  • Use a food scale. It's the only way to know for sure. And it's OK to eat more than one serving, too!
  • Look into the Glycemic Index (GI) foods. It might be relevant to your research.

  • As long as you aren't having issues, I've never heard it being a problem.
  • Most of the time simply losing weight takes care of it. Studies do indicate that fiber intake really helps reduce bad cholesterol -- oats, bran, whole grains, popcorn, high fiber vegetables and beans, etc.
  • This. So much this!!!
  • I would suggest going to an allergist and getting a food panel done. I am allergic to dairy -- and sometimes my symptoms don't occur until 12+ hours later...definitely not the last meal I ate.

  • I love air popped popcorn with olive oil spray. I prelog it every day so I fit everything else in. I have found that high fiber foods fill me the best. Experiment with your macros to find what works for you. And Google a list of low glycemic index (GI) foods -- they take longer for your body to burn.
  • I just want to say I love your new attitude!!! To want to understand rather than to binge. That is an incredible breakthrough! Any new workout routine will make you retain water for muscle repair, so that's part of it. (I just started some new things myself and from experience, I know not to worry about that scale number…
  • I would recommend that you tighten up your logging. You have missed several days and not logged full days. If you haven't gotten a kitchen scale yet, I highly recommend it. You really can't be accurate using measuring cups or relying on single serving size nutritional data. This is especially important for high-calorie…
  • If they aren't being prescribed by a doctor, I would discontinue. Just being "bloated" isn't a good reason.

  • It sounds like you don't have much more weight to lose. If it's 20 pounds or less, you should only be losing a half pound a week, which is often masked by water retention fluctuations. Why are you taking a water retention tablet?

  • I often will make a couple of different sides to accommodate different tastes. I figure if I can get any vegetable into anyone, I've done good. When my family does salads, eveyone puts on their own toppings so everyone likes what they are eating. Since they don't like brown rice, try Jasmine rice. It has a wonderful…
  • What is your current weight?
  • I snack on air popped popcorn pretty much every night. I prelog it when I log breakfast.
  • I guess I'd need to know what your version of "eating clean" is.
  • I can't see your diary but I will bet you are eating more than 1000 calories a day. (I hope you're eating more than a 1,000 a day!) Men should be eating a minimum of 1500 to remain healthy and reduce the amount of lean muscle lost during dieting.
  • Can you do it? Sure. Should you do it? Depends on your height, weight, gender, age, and goal. Enter your stats into MFP and set it to losing a half pound a week. Then, eat back 50-100% of any exercise calories you get. What that number is, is unique to you. I do eat 1200 calories a day, because I'm short and sedentary. My…
  • I do 1200 a day. If you have eaten at least 1000 calories then you won't get that message. But you really need to physically eat 1200 for proper nutrition. I take a multivitamin to be sure. I eat back some of my exercise calories but not all, which means I'll net under 1000 some days, but because I've actually eaten 1200+…
  • No cheating for me. Not paying attention got me 75 pounds overweight. This is a lifestyle not a diet for me. If I eat it, I log it. Sometimes within my daily calorie goal. Sometimes within my weekly calorie goal. The only way I am going to maintain the losses I am making now is by paying attention and doing the math.

  • One to three pounds is totally normal for me. And I know this week the scale won't cooperate because I started a new exercise. I know I'll see a good loss in the next couple or three weeks.
  • Congratulations on your loss so far! After losing so much, reset your goal in MFP. I'll bet your daily goal calories will have changed because of your new lower weight. Also, as you get closer to goal, your expected weekly loss is going to go down --- that 10 pounds? Expect .5 pound loss a week. In the meantime, don't…
  • Take a walk, go swimming, go to the gym.
  • Seriously! LOL
  • Wow. That's a lot of "no" and woo. Ignore it. Set MFP to lose a half pound a week with a sedendary lifestyle. It is going to give you 1200 calories because of your height. (I am also 5'2" but I have 75 pounds to lose.) Any exercise you do will burn additional calories and you can eat some of those back or choose not to and…
  • I LOVELOVELOVE making my own chicken soup stocks. So much tastier, more gelatin, and less sodium than anything in a can.
  • I'm on 1200 calories a day. I eat the majority of my calories after 5pm. Exercise calories will add on to Dinner. Breakfast 150 Lunch 300 Snack 150 Dinner 400 Evening Snack 200
  • Sometimes hunger is all in the macros. For me, high fiber has the staying power I need to avoid hunger. For others, it's protein or fats. Experiment with what you're eating (and timing) to see what works best for you.
