Same. I also have foods that I eat very rarely. Or items I don't keep in my own house but might have if I'm out. I realize that this is a journey. It is for life. I'm only kidding myself if I don't learn how to appropriately handle temptation. I want to enjoy life, and that includes ice cream, cake, dessert, wine, pizza,…

Ok, so why CAN'T you have potatoes? Allergy? And honestly, I'm a psychologist by trade and advise against elimination. That sort of cognitive inflexibility is generally not healthy.

London broil, baked potatoes, sour cream, and some sort of vegetable that I haven't yet decided. Probably broccoli or green beans.

I try to be very nice but I do get concerned about people who want to try diets that aren't sustainable. I don't want to see anyone fail because they erroneously believe that they "can't" have potatoes, or full fat dairy, or a glass of wine. I also don't want people to put their own health at risk. This whole weight loss…

The whole world is make of chemicals. I think you should probably be more scared about what is in the air you are breathing 24/7 than what is in a single can of diet soda.

Have you noticed that these exercised have helped your knee(s)? I need to strengthen my right knee without using weights. Interested in trying these. Also, with yoga, do have a website you can suggest to look at modified poses?

Congratulations! What an amazing transformation!!!

I only drink mine unsweetened! I think it tastes delicious.

I use Fiber One wraps instead of traditional bread for sandwiches to save on carbs. It ends up to be 15 g/carb for each wrap. I'm not a big fan of the "open faced" sandwich and I do a lot of lunch meat roll-ups. Sometimes I just want that wrap. I like how it keeps veggies in the sandwich. I have a slight love affair with…

Too aggressive for your current stats. I know you really want to lose quickly to be ready for summer clothing but I think you'll be much happier going more slowly and being able to stick with it. Best of luck.

Actually, as a diabetic I eat fat and carbs TOGETHER because fats help a little to minimize blood sugar spikes (at least this is what my endocrinologist has said). Or I eat carbs with protein. Something to help elongate digestion to help minimize sugar spikes. Also, fats and carbs together are delicious. Baked potato and…

Roasting is super yummy. I did roasted broccoli the other night (I used olive oil, fresh broccoli, some salt, garlic, and pepper). Cooking method can do a lot with flavor. Of course there are things I just love plain, like green beans. I could eat steamed green beans every night, with just salt and pepper. Carrots are very…

Yes, log 266 as your current weight and continue to update your weight as you step on the scale. It keeps a really nice record of your own personal trendline so that you can see how your weight fluctuates with your TOM and with sodium intake. I don't think having more data points is ever a bad thing unless you start to…

I also wanted to point out that you most definitely can lose weight with hypothyroidism. My TSH is WAY OFF. Like they want it between 1 and 2 and we are having one heck of a time getting me lower than 30. I've lost about 36 lbs since I've been consistently logging in August 2016. In that time I've taken some breaks. I took…

I get 130 grams of carbohydrates daily (macro goal is set to 35% of 1,490 calories). Sometimes I eat all 130 grams, sometimes I'm shy of that. I have Hashi's with associated hypothyroidism and Type II diabetes. Are you taking your blood sugar? Just curious because 15 g/carb at a clip isn't a lot. I actually eat the vast…

These threads are such a bummer for me. They give LCHF a bad reputation. It makes me really sad. I eat lower carb because...diabetes. It's a total WOE for me. I eat potatoes (had an 8.1 ounce russet baked and topped with some kosher salt and 63 g of full fat sour cream as part of dinner tonight). I eat LOTS of vegetables…

Unless you have diabetes, why not? Fruit doesn't agree with many diabetics in the early hours or late at night, but if your body is able to process carbohydrate normally I don't see a problem with it at all. Bananas have a lot of really great stuff packed in there and keeps people satisfied too.

How does the sugar and carb content affect your body that makes you so upset?
-
I don't know- it depends on if you would be in a calorie deficit doing that. Personally I eat the potatoes AND the carrots. I just weigh it out.

Meat prices where I am in the US have gone up, and I'm finding sales to be more scarce. Sometimes we have the option to buy meat in the bulk packs and that saves some money. We portion it out and freeze what we aren't going to use before the "sell by" date. We eat a lot of London Broil because it tends to go on sale A LOT…

I love just vinegar as a dressing for my salad, but I prefer red wine vinegar. So...I keep my ACV in the bathroom. I use it for a lot of things there. It can help with sunburn, can be used as a conditioner for hair, can be used to clear drains with some baking soda, can be used on the face, and I've used it under me old…

Sounds like I should move to Michigan to get cheap produce!!! Sometimes I luck out and find fresh produce that is ugly and the store is selling it at a nice discount, but that selection goes pretty fast. Bananas are always affordable here. Right now raspberries are about $5 a pint. Bummer. Chicken (boneless/skinless…

Yes, we refrigerate. It's how we roll. I know you don't HAVE to but it makes me feel better to do so, plus we have some pesky ants that try and hang out in our home during the spring and I don't need a food source out in the open. As far as spreading, I just take it out of the fridge a bit before eating or setting it on…

Where is this that fresh fruits and vegetables cost less than processed foods? A lb of apples is 2.95/lb. The same lb of boxed mac n' cheese is $1. A bag of mandarin oranges are $6.99. Even iceberg lettuce is well over $1/lb! Zucchini? That costs $2/lb this time of year. I live in a highly agricultural area as well.…

Are you diabetic? I have diabetes and I eat 35%C/45%F/20%P. With these percentages I am able to keep my blood sugar stable. You need more than 900 calories. I love eating this way. I still eat potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, etc too. Last night I enjoyed mashing about 6 ounces of russet potatoes with about 50 grams of…

You could use the recipe builder function to get an estimate. Weigh everything raw, plug it into the recipe builder, and then it will give you the calories for the entire dish. You could then decide how many servings to divide it into or you could do you own math and figure out (roughly) how many calories/gram or…

Lunchmeat and cheese, hard-boiled eggs, sour cream-based ranch dip with raw veggies, Greek yogurt, tomatoes and mozzerella, and why not fruit? Fruit is full of really good stuff like fiber and vitamins and berries have fairly low sugar content.

I just think that life without treats is pretty darn bland! My labs are improving, my energy is better, my resting heart rate is lower, my weight is lower, and my blood sugar numbers are lower. All this and I still enjoy food, just less of it than I might really want. I just plan things out and make room for treats and…

A real one?

Yes, it works if you are in a calorie deficit. So will lots of other ways of eating as long as you maintain a deficit. Like a poster above said, WHY do you want to do this? I eat LCHF, but I also plan to eat this way for the rest of my life. I am diabetic. I would rather eat less carbohydrates and get off diabetes…
