  • I absolutely love Fitnesblender.com - they have a ton of different workouts free on youtube. Even though I have a gym membership, I actually do more of their workouts than I go there.
  • Congrats on your progress so far. Perhaps a short break from the calorie deficit would be a good investment? For me, just having to maintain for a while mentally meant that I could keep on the wagon long enough to feel ready to go back on a deficit. Also, lowering my calorie intake from fruit and starchy foods helps me…
  • Yes. I'm between 550-650 calories for a breakfast (out of around 1600 daily in total). I usually eat eggs/meat, veggies, fruit and fat (nuts, seeds). If I eat too few calories for breakfast (or too little fat/protein), I'm very likely to overdo snacking prior to lunch or after dinner.
  • Donkey kicks!
  • Consistency has worked for me. I have been through several ups and downs before, but this year I have lost (and then maintained) 26-27 lbs slowly and steadily. I have found that 35% fat, 35% protein and 30% carbs is the optimal target macro for me in order to be able to keep my calorie intake low enought. That said, I have…
  • I started maintenance August 1. As you can tell, lots of fluctuations later, the overall trend is still in the right direction. I weigh in daily so I can become friends with those damn fluctuations and it's working for me (most of the time ;-))
  • Depending on which muscles are giving you trouble, you may want to consider modifying your running style. I struggled with my back and lower leg muscles until I adapted to "pose running" (landing mid-foot instead of heel). It worked wonders for me and I can now run much longer distances. Try searching for pose running on…
  • Confession: I am interlectually aware of what makes a good meal in terms of portion size and healthy choices. Another part of my brain, however, remains clueless and can't be trusted without concistent logging.
  • It's an awesome workout. I used it as an introduction to body weight workouts and found it challenging and very efficient. I felt results quickly, which was just the motivation I needed. I created the wokout as "30 day shred level x" and logged it as 300 calories. Enjoy! :-)
  • Club soda gives me the same feeling of being full as hot coffee. And actually chewing gum (sugarfree) or eating a small peace of dark chocolate helps reduce my coffee cravings occationally.
  • I completely understand why you would feel strange and offended by such a comment. However, seeing it from the sideline to me it is obvious that such a comment is NOT about you or your appearence - at all. My mom has a habit of making very inappropriate comments, which has taught me to breathe deep and remind myself, that…
  • I like them Grilled/baked with salt and peanut butter or with cheese
  • When it happens to me, I remind myself that I used to do that all the time before I started changing my lifestyle. Best reaction is to pat yourself on the back for being aware of and admitting to yourself that you didn't make the best choices this weekend and carry on with the healthy habits. Taking back control feels so…
