  • It should go up quite a lot. Something doesn't sound right.
  • No, but check out dcrainmaker.com for his reviews.
  • A reduction in resting heart rate and finding it harder to elevate your heart rate are both indications your fitness is improving. I started with walking and then after some time started cycling. Now I've done so much cycling that walking at the same pace doesn't raise my heart rate as much as it used to compared to a…
  • I had the Fitbit Aria. I returned it and got a Withings WS-30. Withings will sync with Fitbit. It also syncs with a lot more services than Fitbit.
  • I'll echo what's been said: It sounds like the chest strap. It could also be the battery in the chest transmitter as well. Try changing the battery and washing the strap. If washing doesn't fix it, change it as they usually only last a couple of years, depending on how they're cared for. The Soft Strap (rubbery contacts)…
  • On the treadmill, I did 6km/h (4mi/h) for the walk sections and 9km/h (6 mi/h) for the jog sections. I try and stick to that pacing outside.
  • Your activity setting in Garmin Connect is based on the average hours per week you have spent exercising for the current week and the three weeks prior. Level 8 means you've averaged 7 to 11 hours per week. I am level 7, 3 to 7 hours per week.
  • Can't you just log an indoor ride on your Fitbit Blaze? It must have (or you should be able to add) an indoor cycling mode.
  • If changing the battery didn't help, then the strap is the next thing to try. I have a Forerunner 230 that I very much like. Paired with a chest strap it gives me accurate heart rate data. I was along time Polar use, but made the switch to Garmin last April. When you can record your activities and see where you when and…
  • My $399 4iiii Precision only adds a few grams to the left crank. Interestingly, my calorie expenditure numbers went down when I added mine. The takeaway from that is that using heart rate alone was probably overestimating things. Calibration only takes a few seconds, when I bother to do it.
  • It could be in your neck. I had problems with my left hand a year ago. It was caused by the combination of poor bike fit and doing too much too soon on my new road bike. I had issues with my left hand being weak and uncoordinated as both ulnar and median nerves were affected. Some time off the bike, physio and a proper fit…
  • In the video the Garmin representative says the 5X is the same size as the Fenix 3 and that the others are smaller than the Fenix 3.
  • I have a Garmin Forerunner 230 myself. The Forerunner 235 would also be good if you want heart rate at the wrist. I didn't so I went with the Forerunner 230 and use a chest strap - been using one for years with Polar, so I see no need to change. Optical HR is not as accurate as a chest strap, especially at the wrist for…
  • Cycling socks are thinner and designed to wick sweat. Running socks are thicker and the good ones are reinforced in the toe and the heel. I'd recommend you stick with the right socks for the right activity. I don't like using running socks on the bike. Just doesn't feel right in my shoes.
  • If you haven't already, look through the Apps section of MyFitnessPal and see if there's one that will pair with your H7 and MyFitnessPal. Changing to a Wahoo Tickr X won't really help as it's the same sort of thing as a H7, just a sensor. I would like to second what NorthCascades has said and recommend you choose a Garmin…
  • I have a Forerunner 230 which I'm quite happy with. If you want optical heart rate, you could consider the 235. They will sync to MyFitnessPal no problems.
  • If you're set on using the Loop 2 you could buy an iPhone. If you wait for Polar to implement a connection to MyFitnessPal, you'll be waiting a while (a long while). Your best option might be to get something from Garmin or Fitbit. I switched to Garmin from Polar and haven't regretted it.
  • Shoes always matter. The treadmill is an easier surface to run on because it has shock absorption. Asphalt and concrete do not.
  • Maybe look up the definition of astride. It means with a leg on each side, so standing on the pedals is legal when the bike has a seat and is not an offence.
  • The way I do things might not be right for you, but I think there is a Connect IQ app called Hike that will allow a walk to be registered as a walk. That will then flow through to other websites. You would have to delete the activity where you don't want it.
  • It won't automatically start an activity and start tracking your position. In activity tracker mode it will recognise the steps and that you have been quite active during that time. If you want it recorded with a GPS track, you need to specifically start an activity. It records steps whilst recording an activity with GPS,…
  • Very happy with my Forerunner 230. Didn't intend using the activity tracker features when I bought it, but I am now. The smart notifications are handy too. I use the heart rate strap from my 520 with it.
  • The activity level in Garmin Connect is based on the average number of hours per week spent exercising over the previous four weeks. I use SportTracks and have an analysis page set up to tell me. At the moment I'm sitting on close to 4.5 hours per week which puts me at an Activity Class of 7 (3 to 7 hours per week).…
  • Have you enabled activity tracking on Garmin Connect? Do you have Garmin Connect set as your step source in MFP? You need to do both to get it to work. My 230 sends steps and activity data no problems.
  • I don't know where your friend gets their information from. I use a Forerunner 230 and my steps and calories get sent to MyFitnessPal and of course, my activities are automatically synced to Strava from Garmin Connect.
  • Do you have Fitbit set as your step source? It's under Apps > Steps
  • Do you have Fitbit set as your step source? Check under Apps> Steps on the website, or if using the app go to More>Steps (on iOS).
  • The Nike shorts I wear when walking/running have two small pockets. In the inner one I put my Fitbit One for tracking my steps. In the rear zip-up pocket I put my keys. I only take the keys I need to get through the front door (2 keys on a Lego minifig keyring). The rest I leave at home. I have them an a small karabiner so…
  • The H7 does not store data, so you'll have to use the treadmill data. That may or may not be correct depending on what parameters are programmed into it. Unfortunately it's the best you have.
  • Just started doing this as all the cycling of done means that walking doesn't get my heart rate up as high as it used to. Also my Physio doesn't want me to just ride my bike because the static position can (and has in the past) cause problems in my neck and shoulders. I found the program and set it up in my Garmin Connect…
