I know there are a lot of posts on this however I figured I would start my own.

I'm looking for a HRM that syncs directly and regularly with MFP. I have a Polar H7 that I pair with an Android and have tried to use it with various applications however the results are sporadic. Most of the time it doesn't sync.

I'm looking at Wahoo Tickr X. Does it sync directly with Myfitnessapl?

Thanks for any assistance.

"Heart Rate Monitor" can mean two different things:

    (1) A sensor that figures out what your heart rate is.
    (2) A computer that uses said sensor and tells you all kinds of other things, like what street you're on, how many calories you might be burning, what day of the week it is, and the weather forecast.

The Wahoo Tickr X and Polar H7 are both the first kind. They're chest straps. They measure your heart rate, and broadcast it over a Bluetooth or ANT+ radio signal. But they don't do anything else, like talk to MyFitnessPal or guess calories.

Something like a Garmin or an app on your phone is the second kind. One of these can pair with your H7, or a Tickr, or something else, estimate your calorie burn from some kinds of exercise, and report that to MFP.

    I hope that's helpful.

I use a Garmin GPS watch, which I have paired to a few different chest straps. My watch records the details of some of the exercise I do (like riding a bike outdoors, hiking, cross country skiing), including my heart rate and other information along with it, and sends the calorie guess and description to MFP. The one I use is a Fenix 3 HR, but there are so many different options out there, depending on your needs and budget and tastes.

If you haven't already, look through the Apps section of MyFitnessPal and see if there's one that will pair with your H7 and MyFitnessPal. Changing to a Wahoo Tickr X won't really help as it's the same sort of thing as a H7, just a sensor.

I would like to second what NorthCascades has said and recommend you choose a Garmin device. I have both a Forerunner 230 and an Edge 520 and it all works together. You need to consider your budget and what features you want. Have a look at the DC Rainmaker website for his comprehensive reviews.

My Fitbit tracks my steps and syncs directly to MFP.

I have a polar Chest strap with the polar pulse app which syncs with apple health and then syncs with MFP. If you have an iPhone that's an option!

I have had the Runtastic Combo and Polar H7. One neat feature of both is they will communicate with cardio equipment at the gym so your heart rate will appear without having to hold the sensors. This is especially useful on a treadmill because you don't have to hold onto the frame, or on a bike because you don't have to constantly keep both hands on the sensors during a heart rate driven workout.

Both these sensors can also send heart rate data to apps like Endomondo or Mapmyrun.
  • Thanks everyone for your input. I guess what I'm asking is do the Wahoo Ticker Apps work better with apps that will communicate with MFP.

I have an Android and Polar Apps that work with MFP are only on the IPHONE.
I used to have a Fitbit, but have since lost it, so using Polar Beat with Polar Flow is out of the question for now.

I have tried various apps that other people have had success with like Mapmyrun, Urecord and and a few others. They work once or twice but then stop sending data to MFP.

So basically here are my options.

    1. Find a app that can communicate with both the Polar H7 and MFP consistently
    2. By another Fitbit or Polar Watch etc...
    3. By an Iphone
    4. By another strap HRM that can either communicate directly with MFP or communicate with other apps that will pass on its data consistently to MFP
