If you put your current weight, activity level, and target rate of loss in, MFP will tell you how many calories to eat and macros. You don't have to figure anything out.

Why don't you just use what Myfitnesspal tells you?

The idea is for you to make permanent sustainable lifestyle changes. It sounds like what you are doing isn't sustainable. Can you really not drink soda ever again? I am guessing not. Depriving yourself is setting yourself up for a binge and failure. It may take you longer to lose the weight and do it sustainably but it…

This report was really interesting. Their bottom line was that there is insufficient evidence for the role of dietary fat levels and overall health. Their recommendations are based upon obesity prevention. They actually recommend a minimum of 15% dietary fat for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins.

Do you have sources for this?

What you said is "As long as you get enough protein and fat macros are for satiety.." which I interpreted to mean that you need a minimum of both of these for satiety. I wasn't speaking to health. I was speaking to fat not being satiating for everyone. The thing is that there is also a minimum amount of carbs needed for…

I am asking this out of curiosity. Do you know of any studies on how much fat your body actually needs? There is so much false information out there these days. I am just curious what the science actually says but I haven't found any. I am so tired of hearing that we don't need carbs. It's just not true. Carbs are very…

Agree. I was disagreeing with Lilymoon001 saying that you should make sure you get enough fat. That is not always the case and could be bad advice for someone. I would struggle with being hungry all the time and give up. Macros do make a difference for satiety and that is individual.
-
Not true for me. I have to minimize my fat as it is not satiating for me. I pack on the pounds with fat. Carbs are very satiating for me.
-
I completely agree with @msielbeck . The only way you will have permanent success is if you consider this a lifestyle change. It is better to make moderate changes that you can do forever than to overdo it, get burned out, and gain all of your weight back.

I don't eat plant based but I do eat high carb low fat. 15% fat is fine. I have yet to see a study which has determined how much fat the body actually needs. And there are plenty of traditional cultures who eat low fat with excellent health.

I eat Fudgesicles with no sugar added. It's around 50 calories and hits the spot. I am a huge chocoholic. I have found that my taste buds have changed the longer I stick with it. Last weekend I was camping and splurged on a regular size candy bar. I actually got nauseous from it like I used to get from a bag of Hershey's…

Exercise is for fitness. A calorie deficit is for weight loss. It doesn't matter how much of your calorie burn is from breathing or sitting or walking to your car or exercise. Exercise increases your calorie burn which can enable you to eat more while maintaining your deficit which making dieting easier. When I am…

I personally eat high carb low fat. I find it much easier to stay in a calorie deficit that way, I have tons of energy, my blood pressure is lower, my fasting glucose is lower, and my cholesterol is lower. I know low carb is trendy right now but it's not necessary to lose weight. All you need is a calorie deficit.

Are you sure that your meals from the food service are the calories you think they are? Is it possible that they're much higher than you realize?

It is perfectly normal to feel tired the rest of the day when you are first started an hour of cardio. It is going to take your body some time to increase your mitochondria. Once it does that, your overall energy will increase. Give it a few more weeks. I agree that you are probably retaining water because you are building…

I feel like you're not hearing me. I didn't "find peace." I was actively doing what you are saying...the betaine HCL, probiotics, dietary changes, etc. It didn't work for me. It gave me Barrett's esophagus which is precancerous. But the PPIs did work. I used to be like you...believing that big pharma was all wrong. Calling…

Maybe try increasing your protein. Every body is different. Some people find fat satiating. For me it's carbs and protein. I know when I am constantly hungry, it's because I need a specific macro. I can eat all day, have a full belly and still be hungry because I am not giving my body what it needs.

Bring on the woo! I actually eat high carb low fat on purpose. Since eating this way, my fasting blood sugar has decreased, my cholesterol has dropped from 220s to 132, my energy is so much better, and I don't overeat. Fat is so much more calorie dense. I can easily go over my calories and I really struggle with hunger…

I developed Barrett's esophagus from following this advice. I got scoped and my doctor said it wasn't cancer...yet...but it was bad. I started taking a PPI immediately. Got scoped again six months and there was some improvement but it was still considered Barrett's. It was another year before I was downgraded from…

If you're going to do alternate day fasting, you don't restrict calories on your eating days. Eat your TDEE on those days. If you want to fast and restrict calories every day, use an eating window. Anywhere from one to eight hours.

Sadly I can't have peanuts either. I will look at that beef one. A lot of times the protein powders that I can have are so stinking expensive they're not worth it. I have been focusing on chicken because I am trying to eat low fat also. I think I have to pick my battles and protein is winning.

I actually try to eat high carb low fat. I feel much better that way. It's good for my GERD also. I eat a lot of rice, potatoes, fruits and vegetables. I will definitely check out those chicken recipes. I like how you worded that - it's the tofu of meats. Good to keep in mind. I have an autoimmune disease (rheumatoid…

I just checked out their site. I could try the brown rice one but the rest have legumes in them.

Let yourself be self conscious. It will pass eventually. The biggest thing that holds people back is the unwillingness to be an amateur.

I'm with you. I am lucky to live in a wooded area and I absolutely love being outdoors. I walk or ride my bike for over two hours on a regular basis. I used to buy into all of the "ooh...don't exercise too much" hoopla. It's just that, hoopla. We evolved being physically active all day long. Sitting all day is what is…

Chew gum. I find that sometimes I just want something to chew on. Or, leave yourself enough calories for your nighttime snacks. It sounds like it's a ritual with your husband. These things can be important for our relationships. My husband and I watch stupid natural disaster movies on Saturday nights. They're corny and…

I have two friends whose migraines are triggered by peanuts.

Also, if you still have ovaries and aren't old enough to go through menopause, you are still having all of the hormonal changes of a monthly cycle. That may still be a factor.

Actually they have now found evidence of grain consumption going back 120,000 years. I used to eat paleo and I am grateful for it. I have an autoimmune disease and have always had digestive issues. Through paleo I figured out what foods were causing the problem and I feel much better now. But I don't eat paleo anymore.…
