  • I would except I'm just getting back into logging, so it won't be much help yet.
  • Because we're trying to build muscle, we're looking for about 1g per pound of lean body weight. For her that's around 120g and for me 180g
  • Great Ideas, I was hung up on buying a premade one because I didn't really know where to start, but didn't think about just looking for ideas on the pages I'd like to have. I'd like to see some bullet journal examples too. As much as I hate pinterest, I'll have to check it out  One reason I want to give this a try…

  • 37 here and wanting to get into the shape, lose fat, and build muscle. Feel free to add me, always open to more friends and support
  • Awesome suggestions everyone. My wife is an amazing cook, she's part italian. But she likes alot of foods that I don't. Might be time I did a little cooking of my own to try things a different way, or a new food. I'm not looking to completely turn my diet on it's head. Just add some things or substitute some the ngs to…
  • Thanks for the tips and links guys. I'll have to take a better look at my macros, usually I know my percentages are close but not sure about actual amounts. Just trying to create some new habits and expand my food options s if I can. And I'm similar with veggies, I tolerate more when they are in soups and things,…
  • Thanks Ann that's great advice and thanks for the encouragement. I have always been interested in learning Tai chi, maybe now is the time.
  • That makes sense and is consistent with what I was sorta thinking. I might try doing my usual morning thing before work, and lift just 3 times a week. Cardio in between. I like doing the morning routine cause it gets the blood flowing and helps wake me up. Or do you think that may be over working my muscles still? It's…
  • Depends on the kettlebell moves you're doing. If you're doing a lot of swings, that's as much cardio as jogging really. I got into Kettlebelling recently also and I love it. I use a lot of Greg's Kettlebell workouts, look him up if you aren't familiar, he's highly respected in regard to kettlebell workouts.
  • Hi there, good luck on your journey. We have 3 kids ranging from 2 to 13. My wife has gone back to school and we live on my income only so eating healthy sometimes is a challenge both because of time and money. We've been doing pretty good though, takes a little more planning. Once the weather gets nicer we can get outside…
  • Setting attainable goals is a good start
  • They are known to be innacurate, but they can give you a point of reference. Just take the numbers with a grain of salt and focus on moving them the direction you need to.
  • I have problems from time to time with my Garmin app synching with MFP, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Usually closing an app or manually synching will get it to go. I'm not familiar with Fitbit in particular though, so can't help you there specifically
  • Hey I'm in NH too! Always nice to meet people online from the same area. I've actually heard Doctors say that people that live in northern NH should be taking Vitamin D supplements in most cases. We have the same number of sunny days as Seattle. Might be something to check into if Minnesota is anything like NH in the winter
  • My wife and I struggle with this also, mostly because we have a rice cooker and we'll cook parboiled rice and try to accurately log what we ate. Sometimes there's left overs, sometimes I eat more of it, sometimes she does. Measuring it prior isn't practical for us because we don't always eat it all and we share. We decided…
  • Let me rephrase, there's no accurate way for us normal folk to track it. We used best guesses, and that's fine, but people should be aware there's error involved
  • Frankly there's no truly accurate way of measuring calories burned. For that matter the calories contained in food are a guestimate that can be off by 10%. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.livescience.com/26799-calorie-counts-inaccurate.html
  • There's something else going on here IMO, things aren't adding up
  • I have a Scosche Rhythm arm band heart rate monitor and love it. It seems very accurate when I've cross checked it and works well. The only thing is it's a tad pricey at around $80. Also you need to pair it via Bluetooth, it doesn't show or store the data on the monitor itself. I use wahoo fitness app for this. Helps be a…
  • I've thought about putting my heart rate monitor and seeing what wahoo fitness says I burned
  • Awesome, thanks for the replies. I'll have to check out the challenges, I'm a pretty competitive person so that could be something to help me with my goals
  • I'm pickin' up what your puttin' down
  • We did a bunch of FB's workouts this time last year and I lost 15 lbs, but life got busy and I made bad choices and put it all back on. I've since gotten into Kettlebelling which I love, but still check out FB's workouts sometimes. Some of their food advice is questionable at times, but for the most part I like what…
  • We're trying to weigh more of our stuff, our dinner gets weighed as best we can and usually I have leftovers for lunch so that gets weighed too. Prepacked stuff I don't weigh, but I've started weighing snacks I bring to work like crackers and such and I've definitely been estimating 10-20% low
  • One thing I try to do if I know I'm going to be eating over my calorie budget is get in an extra workout, even if I don't burn all of the calories back at least it's something.
  • Good Luck to you, I'm not one for the new year new me bull, but that's how the timing worked out this time around for me. I'd lost nearly 20 lbs last spring and put it all back on for various reasons. I work a desk job now, which is MUCH less active than I'm used to. I'd like to say I'm cutting everything unhealthy but I'm…
  • Hi, my wife is very similar to you. We have 3 kids, she's 34 similar height and weight and we're trying to get back in shape and lose some weight to. It's hard work, especially to get motivated some days. She's not much for chatting or sharing on here, but I wanted to say we can relate and Good Luck!
