    Welcome! My main tips:

    1) Spend some time logging your food before you start cutting calories. This can give you an idea of where you are prone to overeating and where it will be easiest for you to cut back. If you gained all that weight over the last year, chances are you can isolate what changed to make that happen. That's what you need to work on, not low fat or low carb or whatever the current trend is.

    2) Make changes that you can live with long-term. It's one thing to lose weight, and it's another to keep it off long term. It sounds like you made a lifestyle change in this past year that has impacted your weight - now you need to make a lifestyle change to move that in the other direction.

    3) Be patient! There's lots of great help here if you ask, but the number one thing that leads people to fail at weight-loss is giving up. You will have setbacks, but if you treat them as learning experiences rather than reasons to give up, you will succeed. Good luck!
