Start reasonably and cut refined sugars for 2 weeks and see how you feel. Make sure you are not replacing with a bunch of artificial sweeteners. I would eat more carbs but reduce sugar. What I have experienced every time I drop my sugar intake the weight would fall off of me. In addition sugars cause me to feel hungry or want to snack.

For me I don't plan cheat days,on a schedule. They will naturally come up. Example, dinner out for my roommate b day last week. This weekend I am going to a NASCAR race and I know I will not follow tightly to my cals this weekend. But I will diligently log my food and spend extra time in the gym next week to make it up.
