Up until the past month, this never would've worked in my life--that's why I got fat. After a few years of tracking what I'm eating, measuring and weighing everything, and taking care of myself fitness wise, I've begun intuitive eating. It's working for me now, so far, and is way less stressful and time consuming. I still…

Good morning on this Monday-feeling Tuesday. Great run Sunday, if not hot and disgustingly humid, some Yoga, a Zumba class, and way too much watermelon and mango. Weight is maintaining. Really looking forward to the cooler and less humid Fall weather. I did back to school shopping although I have no one in school I need to…

Happy Tuesday that feels like a Monday. I don't come here on weekends and when I get here during the week, all threads have taken off! Ironic how little labor I did this passed three-day Labor Day weekend. Weighed in at WW Saturday and I'm the exact same weight as last month's weigh in, only I didn't have to work out first…

You will lose weight by burning more calories than you eat. That being said, Weight Watchers was my tool to do this because for me, it was/is a sustainable way of eating less/exercising more. I couldn't stick to a meal plan that restricted any type of food, except maybe blood pudding and liver. I could refrain from them.…

I'm Lifetime WW, still go to weekly meetings and weigh in monthly, but I track calories and macros here and do not track points. Down a total of 97-100 depending on the day.

You can tell it's the Friday before a 3-day weekend here; highways empty and I must be the only one working. Today is a run and Yoga class. Found a new Tai Chi center and will start there early next week. Looking forward to a grilled hamburger at some point this weekend. Carpe Diem!

Thanks for the warm welcome here! I had a lot of difficulty and it took months to lose, first, the last 5 pounds, and then a long time to lose that last 1.5 pounds. I nearly settled on a doctor's note that my current weight (1.5 over highest goal weight permitted by WW for 5'8) and actually had the note in hand when I hit…

Humidity? Humidity this year is spelled N-e-w J-e-r-s-e-y. No way I'm running outside. I did hit the mother lode at vinyasa yoga last night--I was the only one who showed up, so it was a private lesson. And apparently my company is the only one open today because there was hardly any traffic (ain't complainin'). Labor Day…

Hi! This is the first time I've seen this thread. I lost a total of 92 pounds on WW over the years and hit Lifetime last April. That's the point at which I stopped tracking points and started tracking calories and nutrients. Still go to weekly meetings, still weigh in once a month for the freebie status. I do love my…

Happy Birthday Jackie! Can't help with settings either, but I watch my sugar intake like a hawk without formally doing low carb. Good luck here!

I've been doing this nearly a month. It's been great. I usually track everything but dinner, the following day just to see the data. On average, I'm eating less. When I was tracking, I knew how many calories I had left to eat, and geez I just could not let them go to waste, so I'd have that yogurt and fruit or muesli after…

Yay for Wednesday. Very good treadmill run yesterday and I think I finally see real progress in my running. It's nowhere near the pace of you "younger" middle agers, but when compared only to myself, it's lightning fast. Today will be easy cardio, maybe elliptical, and a Vinyasa Yoga class tonight. Really REALLY looking…

Happy Tuesday. Treadmill run later today (I see no need to acclimate to running in a pot of hot soup) and Yoga tonight. Hoping to make this day the best day ever. Carpe diem.
-
Happy Sunday. Five mile run in the bag, yoga later this evening. Occasionally tracking yet still on target and losing. When this stops working, I’ll move on back to tracking. Seems different things work at different times. Really enjoying the laid back approach at this time. Carpe Diem.

Yay for Friday. Beautiful weather in NJ so a late afternoon run followed by evening Yoga. Headed out mushroom foraging tomorrow early morning and excited to find a new patch less than 3 hours away. (Yes, I know what I'm doing, lol.) I've got the weekend to myself and am looking forward to it. Carpe diem!

I lost 97 pounds and, although a bit of a curmudgeon myself and the only journeys I do are international backpacking/adventure trips, I will say it was a total and complete "lifestyle change." My food and fitness had to change completely, and the way I lived my life had to change. Eating out went from nearly daily to maybe…

56 here and same is happening to me with the injuries. Just traded in iron for a yoga mat for the next few months. Cardio (running and some other stuff on occasion) and some overall body work strengthening in classes, but going to focus on flexibility for the next few months.

Don't look too far down the road; take it one day at a time. Today could be the heaviest you are for the rest of your life. Try to look at this as an exciting time and an opportunity given to you for you to craft your happiness.

Happy Thursday. Eating well, weight down, stopped tracking and using intuition on portion size, good workouts yesterday. Trying not to blow it. Carpe Diem.

Small amount of cereal but with homemade yogurt instead of milk. Tastes nearly decadent.

Yeah, Wednesday...almost halfway there. I know I feel better at 56 than I did at 36 and 46. It stopped being about how I looked and started being about how I feel and the quality of life. Looking fit (at least compared to the average American and I am in America) sort of goes along with the ride (and I'd spent too many…

Happy Tuesday. Been starting my mornings at home with Yoga. Liking it so far. At 56 years old, I will have my first surfing lesson in Bali in November. I'm cardio fit, fairly strong, but apparently not flexible enough for a decent popup. Namaste!
-
Happy Friyay. Well, I ended up taking the entire week off from the gym (and from cardio) because I didn't go again last night. Did do Yoga every morning and before bed. Will.Go.To.Gym.Tonight. And tomorrow. Running Sunday. Nutrition is in order, although I do have a hankering for Fireball for some reason. Carpe Diem!
-
I just thought of a great idea because of your post. I always add cinnamon and vanilla to my overnight oats or my breakfast kasha. Instead, I think I can add Fireball!

My aha moment was being in my 50's, knowing I only have one child, and fearing they'd be burdened with me and horrible health problems like my mother has from being severely overweight. Couldn't stand the thought that my daughter would have to be saddened by my poor health were I to stay that way.

Good morning! No gym again last night! Feeling great anyway. Spice: Vegeta (more like seasoning but good enough). Will post again today after 12:00 pm. Going to live dangerously. Carpe diem!

Six years post-50 here, down 97 from my highest, 74 from December 2016. I had to change everything about the way I eat and I had to change my mind that it's not a diet and I need to adopt this as my permanent way of eating. I have one or two or three-day "off plan" days every so often, and I do weigh daily because that's…

LOL! I peaked at your profile and I think you've stumbled on what should be the motto and goal of everyone over 50: "STAY INJURY FREE! "

Good middle of the week, middle agers (even the 35 year old ones :) ). 30 years old was the big birthday for me--I remember thinking I'll never be young again. Anything after that was fine. 56 now and it feels kind of weird being closer to 60 than 50, but I'm in the second best shape of my life (after the free body we're…

I guess this really is a bigger change, but I meal prep nearly my entire week's meals, and I've dropped down to eating out maybe only once or twice a month.
