  • I find boredom the hardest part of a 5km swim. I always get 'bored' between 20 and 30 lengths no matter the distance. On a 5km, it hits again around 120, so that is when I pause and have a drink or a gel. I swim along telling myself, you are not tired, you are bored - on repeat until I get back into the zone of just…
  • I got up at 5:30 this morning to go to a boxing boot camp thingy. Never been before and there were about 15 people (that I had never met). A lot of cool boxing combos and less cool interval training. I was definitely the largest there - but not by as much as I feared and I also WASN'T PICKED LAST when instructor said to…
  • Am so sorry to hear that! and that your bike has had it :( Your posts are always mega inspiring and I am glad you were feeling up to getting back on the bike straight away! Rest up and begin a new adventure with a new bike :) Hope the driver gets their comeuppance and your injuries heal quick.
  • 2.5km super speedy guy in the lane so I had a few more pauses to let him past. less speedy guy swims up during a rest and pretty much sprays water from his mouth into my face before asking me how many strokes I do per length. thanks mate! needed that! bleh
  • 2.5km soooo tired after 2km. Gotta work my endurance back up!
  • 2km longest swim in a fair while! Barely got a length underwater and could only really do 125m at pace before dying. Looking forward to working back up to 'awesome' hehe
  • I swim at about 7am-8am and do not eat before at all. I drink water sometimes during but then have breakfast at work after. I really don't like doing any exercise after food. Even after a few hours I don't feel great if I start working out
  • I have found it to be more engaging than Facebook over time. I tend to have a lot in common fitness wise with my friends on here who have stuck with for the past 2 years! And some social/lifestyle similarities as well. Whereas facebook for me is mainly IRL friends who just are not that fitness/food 'obsessed'. lol I love…
  • 1km! back in the pool after 2 weeks (had hair coloured and didn't want to leak dye into the pool)
  • That being able to tie a hoodie around your waist still surprises me after a year and a half! hehe no longer do I worry about, 'what if I gets too warm and I have to carry my hoodie, ugh effort'. Just tie it round my waist and carry on! :D
  • I don't know lol - competitive streak?
  • I cannot eat anything on the morning of a run! I have tried several things, light stuff, hours before etc, my stomach informed me in no uncertain terms that it was not going to play ball. I have a fair amount of pizza the night before. Works ace for me. Then I have a SIS gel about every 35-45 mins of the run along with my…
  • Nearly every time I use my car, I try to open the door before I have unlocked it. This only really started regularly a few months ago but it has definitely settled into it's own routine. Yay. It's great cos you totally look like a car thief when you try the door and it doesn't open
  • 5km All 3 done! Now to wait for medals!!
  • 5km 2 down, 1 to go very tired and hungry but quite hyper. 15 seconds faster today
  • I bought a running top in a large rather than an XL. Mental nsv because the fabric is that horrible clingy stuff that is perfect for running but moulds itself to your stomach so when you look down it's like a stack of tyres Bought it anyway because the XL I thought was too big round arms and would rub. Wore it Sunday with…
  • 5km today part of the triple 5km swimathon challenge, so same again tomorrow and Thursday!
  • Love this thread! So much of this was me about 2.5 years ago! Especially the 'this is just my weight, my body is obviously happy at this weight - won't ever change' Recently at work (UK) it's been all about the tumeric. Tumeric in everything helps burn twice the calories. Generally there is usually a conversation going…

  • yeah lol she is in her uni 'bake off' but it has to be a physiotherapy themed cake lol Think I was there 2004-2006. Ah Halifax! Remember watching a comedy song player there - Jay Foreman and eating nachos lol. I was in James, but our lecture halls for Archaeology were in town, so bus/walk at 8:30 3 times a week! Then I…

  • really? awesome - usually I have to refer to AQA to get people to realise what OCR is! hmmm, my Pilates mat is by the sofa, where I sit for most of the evening. All I have to do is slide off sofa and lie in front of the tv and do some stuff - just won't ever do it! haha will keep trying!
  • Ditto - I eat totally differently on weekends - when I have been better at sticking to my plans (this year has not been good for that) I tend to eat brunch about 12 noon and then have a load of cals left for evenings at weekends. Encourages me to get a lie in as well :)
  • Hahah - well considering I work for the exam board OCR - it wasn't obvious to me at first either :D Oh cool - am glad pole is going well - tres awesome for doing that and yoga! Love that you are teaching people to row now - seriously epic! I cannot for the life of me get into a routine of more pilates! Even though I know…
  • Morning morning! All is good here - bit tired but am looking at all new ways to break myself! haha Leaning towards a Wolf Run in June to see what an OCR is like and maybe get my shiny Spartan Sprint medal next year. Training for half in May is going well. And I keep forgetting I have a swimathon challenge thingy in March…
