Remember the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? I think this might apply here. You've successfully lost 85 lbs doing what you're doing. If I were in your shoes, I'd tighten up my logging and make sure I know how many calories I'm consuming but keep doing what I'm doing otherwise.

My guess is that you weren't thinking about what you ate when you put on weight, so I'd consider that a BIG down side. The reality is that you need to think about what you're eating. These plans will deprive you of that mental exercise. I don't see how that can help you in the long run. Remember, there's losing weight and…

It looks like there's a lot of question about this relationship right now. I guess I'm not the only one who's unsure about the science or how to apply it to my eating habits. I eat a balanced diet with just enough low nutrient foods to keep my sweet tooth happy, so I'm not worried about it myself. But I think it's one of…

Absolutely. That's why I asked here instead of on one of those sites.

Thanks. I wasn't even going to look at that silly video. I appreciate your help.

Thanks Yoda  This is what I thought as well, but I've seen several recommendations to lower SF if you have high cholesterol and it sounds an awful like like the now debunked advice to cut dietary cholesterol. Also, I'll look into the references you mentioned. Thanks again.
-
Can you elaborate on how it does that? You're making a statement but not really explaining it.
-
How does that relate to cholesterol?

I think I've seen you talk about this before but now that I'm specifically looking into it, it's seems more significant. I'm so sorry you have this condition but glad that you've learned what it is and have a good plan for addressing it.

I decided from the very beginning that I would learn how to eat out regularly because I knew that's what I would do for life. It's slowed my weight loss but I've gotten very good and eating out and making sensible choices. It's a skill just like weighing and logging. Practice helps. My advice is if you plan to eat out at…

I'm pretty sure this is the one I had in May when my MIL was here and we went to CF for my hubby's birthday dessert. It was delicious. Worth every calorie.

The other day I saw chocolate covered pb pretzels. It was all I could do not the buy them. And they were BOGO free. I should post that in the NSV thread.
-
I suppose so long as you don't have to take responsibility for what you stick in your mouth.
-
I gotta *bump* this...

I would be sad if I couldn't have my favorite chocolate for the next 6 weeks. Why not fit it into your plan. If you cut your loss rate to 1/2 lb a week, you could easily fit it in every once in a while. It will keep you sane. Or at least teach you that eating a snickers occasionally won't stop you from losing as long as…

I'm one of those who can't tolerate sugar alcohols very well so I generally stay away from them. As a consequence, I've gotten really good at learning how to incorporate a reasonable yet satisfying amount of real sugar sweets into my day, which I enjoy better anyway.

Personally, I fine that the horrible clothing styles right now is keeping me from spending too much on clothing. What the hell's the deal with all the awful polyester? It's not the 1970's and I refuse to dress like it is.

Congratulations! You should post this in the "Success Stories" forum.

Yeah, that's an awfully fast walking pace. I would be lightly jogging at that rate. It's possible, but fast.

I'm thinking that must be including the skin. If you switched to skinless it would be a lot less than that.

My appetite tends to be much lower after cardio. The next day, I'm ravenous. I just go by my weekly calories and it all comes out in the wash.

Sounds like a great plan. It seems realistic and sustainable long term. That's what maintenance is all about. Besides, if you need to change it down the road you're not committed. I sense you'll do well.

It's an equation so you can't consider just one side. Increasing your CI increased your energy which helped you perform better at your workout and your daily life activities so your CO went up.

Be nice and don't take other people's stuff (kindergarten ethics).

So you're too busy to eat, but you're working out 2-3 times a day? On top of that you're netting very few calories? That's a recipe for an eating disorder and/or a massive kickback when you "finish" dieting.

Plug your stats into MFP and it will calculate it for you. Easy.

If you're knees hurt during squats, you're form is off and needs to be corrected.

@Maxematics gives good advice and it's probably what I would try next if I were in your shoes. I'd add that you might consider using a weight trending app to help you see your weight loss over time. When you're losing a very small amount slowly it's very easy to get lost in the fluctuations. I like Trend Weight, but Libra…

My kids learned about this from "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood", but they call it banana swirl. They really love it and it helps keep me from tossing overripe bananas. Win/Win.

The real challenge isn't what you do during a week of vacation. It's what you do when you get home that will make the difference.
