Simple trick that took an embarrassingly long time for you to figure out...
I decided to create this thread in the hopes of finding out that I'm not the only one who can be extremely slow to figure out very simple things. So what are some really simple things about weight management, health, fitness, etc that took you waaaaaay to long too figure out. For me it's been that I can't exercise my way…

Does Saturated Fat Affect Cholesterol Levels?
I feel like the answer to this question changes regularly, but I'm trying to understand the effect Saturated Fat has on blood Cholesterol levels. What's the latest science on this? Can someone point me to some reputable, non-woo sources I can read up on that are written for the layperson? I'm asking for educational…

Diet Drink Recommendations
I've recently discovered that I really like the taste of Coke Zero Sugar. I've always shied away from diet drinks in the past, but I enjoy the low cal sweetness. I tired Diet Pepsi the other day and enjoyed it as well. However, I am pretty sensitive to caffeine and if I drink it after noon or so, it tends to keep me up and…

Peanut Butter makes me sad...
I'm always a little deflated when I realize how little peanut butter 30 grams turns out to be. It's barely enough for 1/2 a sandwich and with 1 slice of breads logs in at just shy of 250 calories. But today I decided it was worth it.

Are Processed Foods "Bad"?
I'm not really big on starting new threads especially in the debate section, but this issue comes up so frequently I thought I'd put it out there for discussion. I truly don't understand how processed foods have become to be so demonized by many people. I notice that so often people will post how they're avoiding processed…

Keto/LC the Only Way to Lose Visceral Fat?
I had lunch with my sister today and she's just started a Keto diet. I asked her what she hoped to accomplish from it because she doesn't need to lose weight. Among other interesting comments, she mentioned that it's the only way to lose visceral fat or fat around the organs is what she called it. Now I'm certain this…

Does the Source or Type of Fiber Matter?
I'm working on incorporating more fiber into my diet, mainly to help with digestion and to experiment with how satiating it will be. In general, I find carbs to be better for managing my appetite than fat or protein, but I've only recently been giving thought to understanding fiber. I'm working on losing another 25 lbs…

It's All Sugar's Fault
This is what my doctor told me today is the reason people are overweight/obese today. It's a very commonly used explanation on these boards so I wanted to open it up for discussion. He said that we (I assume he meant Americans, but I guess it could be expanded to Westerners in general) eat about the same number of calories…

This is a fun one...
Yesterday my hubby was doing the laundry and gave my jeans to my 13 year old daughter to put in her closet. That was never even a remote possibility before this last year. There were many size differences between us. My daughter and I both got a kick out of it and I got a HUGE ego boost!

So This is Interesting...NSV
For the last few weeks the scale hasn't been moving nearly as much as it had been the last 3 months. Fluctuating around the same few pounds, some days down a bit, some days up. It can be a little disheartening. I just decided to measure myself and see what those numbers said. I'm surprised and thrilled that since mid April…

First Challenge I've ever Joined
I've been lurking on the boards since I started tracking my calories, but this is the first challenge that spoke to me. 12 weeks is both reasonably long and short at the same time lol. I just reached my first weight goal of 190lbs and I've been hovering there the last couple of weeks. I'm ready to push on to the next one.…

4/5 Check In
Today was pretty awesome. I was fairly lazy during the day. I just went to Target and got in almost 4,000 steps. I've laid out a path to walk around the store so I can still get some walks in regardless of the weather. I did double classes at the gym today. First was a boot camp. I was so excited by how many pushups I was…
