  • The highlighted bit means that you are still diabetic but have found a way of controlling it without the need for medication. This is an AWESOME achievement and I hope you have continued success. In saying that though I have read stories and know of people that have achieved the same result by limiting carbs to 50 grams a…
  • I just change it to one serving being 1 gram so no maths is required.
  • How else do you expect them to go forth and multiply? ;)
  • I am sure you mean, "Let's eat, Grandma."
  • The most accurate way to work out your maintenance calories is to use the data you already have. MFP is a great starting point but is based on averages and your accuracy with logging. On average, how much were you losing a week? If it was 1 pound then you would add 500 calories to the 1500 you have. If it was 1/2 pound…
  • Not crazy at all.......
  • By nature humans are omnivores. This means that our bodies are designed to have a combination of both plant and animal products. It is a fact that without fortification of some processed foods and/or supplements that a vegan would not thrive. There are a number of reasons that people choose to go down the vegan path which…
  • So you cut out most of the processed food you were eating, eliminated animal products and lost weight and your health improved. Maybe you would have seen very similar improvements by simply reducing processed food and losing weight. My health has improved significantly by doing two of three of those things.
  • I like mixing some cacao powder into plain greek yoghurt and adding some strawberries and nuts. No added sugar but it feels like a nice chocolate sweet while full of lots of nutritional goodness.
  • Honey is for bees but it sure tastes good! Nuts, fruit and vegetables are for their reproduction but man, they are even better than honey.
  • I think that answers your question.
  • I switched to almond milk because it is lower in calories but more importantly, I prefer the taste. If you prefer the taste of normal cow's milk there is really little benefit in changing. Just make sure it fits within your calorie goals.
  • Research suggests that they can have a positive impact on depression, especially SAD. In warmer months, spending time outside early in the morning will be more beneficial, especially if combined with exercise. As it is inexpensive and won't do any harm I'd say it is certainly worth a try. Even if it is just a placebo…
  • All I have to say is that the changes in notifications makes this thread almost criminal. Every time I open up my notifications I see all this yummy food ;)
  • If you want to lose weight you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. It is as simple as that. Some prefer keto as they find the combination of fat and protein quite filling which makes it easier to stay in a deficit. You certainly can eat too much on keto and gain weight, especially as fat is more calorie-dense than…
  • Am I the only one that pictured the OP going for a run in the buff during the middle of winter so that they feel pretty raw at the end of it? Please don't let me be the only one!
  • I did a 1200 plus 2/3's of my exercise calorie a day diet, reached my goal weight and have been there for well over 2 years. However, I am not even 5 foot tall so 1200 is appropriate for me. Unless you are vertically challenged 1200 is unrealistic as it is not sustainable. You are much more likely to end up in a…
  • I was kinda peeved at the more active bit when the OP has no idea of how active we all are, nor do we have to be that active to lose weight. I was then truly perplexed with the next paragraph. Firstly trying to work out why you couldn't do a workout indoors followed by trying to work out what they could possibly have meant…
  • How do you cook it? I prefer my cauliflower rice to be sauteed in a pan rather than boiled. Love it that way but really don't like it boiled.
  • Struggling to find this apparent flab you mention. I see perfectly fine legs in that photo.
  • Put the container you are going to cook in on some scales, tar it to 0 then add how much you want to cook while frozen. Presto. Not only do you have the correct weight as to the nutritional label, but you have also saved dishes as you don't have a cup to wash.
  • I sleep better on a full (not overfull) stomach. Not eating after 6 pm would have a negative impact on my sleep and this would hinder weight loss more than keeping within calories but eating not long before bed ever would. I consume half of my daily calories after 6 pm and not only lost weight without a problem but have…
  • Not if it works for you. I personally prefer to stay away from really short skirts and shorts and skinny jeans or ripped jeans which seem to be the choice of bottoms in teen shops here in Australia.
  • I can also find clothes in teen shops .... but a 40+ year old woman dressing in teenage fashion just doesn't work too well for most things. Vanity sizing may have helped some woman from being in denial with weight gain but for those of the petite size it has meant a huge issue with finding clothes that fit.
  • Written by someone who has no understanding of how to do science!
  • What saddens me is that there is so much pseudoscience around that people no longer understand the basics of weight loss ...... or vaccinations ...... or climate change .....
  • Did you miss the bit where she said she drank caffeine free diet coke?
  • If you have deliberately made yourself sick then I would seek medical attention for an eating disorder. If you threw up as a result of nausea then listen to your body to guide how you eat over the coming 24 hours and resume normal logging once you feel better. Whether you log the meal or part of the meal is neither here…
  • If you lost 11 kilos in 5 months then dropping an additional 600 calories a day will have you undereating and losing at least 1 kg a week which is too much for healthy, sustainable weight loss. It will result in extra lean muscle mass loss, brittle nails, hair falling out, and less chance of long term success because it…
  • If you are not getting results weigh EVERYTHING, including that cup of cereal. There is often more in that cup than you think.
