Free does not mean unlimited!!!!!!! If your consultant is advocating for eating unlimited pasta/rice/potatoes, it's not the group for you. 1/3 minimum of your plate should contain 'speed' food...fruit or veg. Mine is quite good about telling us that 'free' does not mean unlimited...the bulk of your plate should be speed veg/fruit, so that the portion of carb/protein becomes automatically smaller. I maintained my weight for 4 years by eating intuitively, and it was a huge help in overcoming the binge/restrict stuff I was doing prior to that. I'm now tracking calories again to lose weight I gained in a 2 year overseas posting, but I still use many of the principles of IE while I'm losing.
