  • There are a number of really good movies about LCHF eating on You Tube and other sources. Maybe schedule some tube time with them and have them hear it from an outside source.
  • First, I will admit that I am late to this party and only skimmed my way through to this point. Second I had never heard of moderating protein until I found Diet Doctor. After several good runs at LCHF that eventually stalled and resulted in derailment (which I now attribute in part to gluconeogenesis) I discovered that in…
  • I had to put my Google fu to work. Very interesting. I had never heard of it.
  • Do... Not... Cheat...
  • Good job. Getting started is always the hardest part.
  • Diet soda definitely sets off my insulin response and triggers cravings, as does any fruit other than blackberries and lemons. Every time I have been successful on LCHF I have always had to completely let go of soda and imitation desert replacements.
  • I started by finding a couple of hobbies that I enjoy doing. When I feel that stress rather than heading to the kitchen I go participate in my hobbies. That has helped quite a bit as it keeps me busy and changes my focus. Another thing I have begun to do, especially when I am stressed, is exercise. I do not believe…
  • I am and I have 5 kids. However we have replaced some of the sugar with other things. A coloring book, a small toy, a stuffed animal, costume jewelry, matchbox cars, etc. We still give them some sweets but far less than we did 5 years ago. What sweets we do give them they guard like their lives depend on it. With that many…
  • The prior poster trying to debunk the article has made me emotional and now I want to go eat something. Thanks a lot. I'm kidding. I am a stress eater and it did not stop until I found other ways to manage stress. Ways that did involve a drive through window or a large container of sugar-based foods. Deep ketosis played a…
  • I am another pickle juice drinker. My family thinks I'm crazy but it has helped immensely. I also make natural tea (cold) and then add fresh lemon juice and sodium directly to it. The lemon seems to counteract the taste of the salt. Otherwise I will make a cup of chicken or bone broth and add some salted butter to it.
  • Thanks for the welcome! I am already rocking this weight loss thing. Started out a week ago at 480 lbs and was 457 lbs this morning. I spent my first two days fasting (48 hours straight) and then just ate one low carb high fat meal a day for 4 days in a row. I am going to continue that trend weekly for the time being.
  • What? This must be the first time ever that someone lost weight and gained it back. :) On the other hand I could be poster boy for that very cycle. If you need a virtual smack in the back, I got a pretty strong hand. Friend request sent!
  • I have been down this weight loss path a number of times, and more recently decided that the journey was not mine alone to take. That the greatest path to power and success was with me all along but I decided to carry the burden myself anyway. I have spent a lot of time in prayer and scripture, and what I discovered is…
  • I had those same symptoms on a prior attempted at LCHF. The brain fog was real. I found that drinking a cup of chicken broth with a tbsp of salted butter and taking a magnesium supplement daily cleared it all up. I now also drink pickle juice on a regular basis (which contains sodium, magnesium, and potassium).
