  • I'm vegan, and have no trouble making meals and staying full! It is very easy (maybe too easy!) to get enough calories in, when you have such filling and nutritious meals based on grains, lentils, and beans. Rice, oats, potatoes, even pasta and doughs make great bases for meals. Pick a starch and go from there! Add in all…
  • Unfortunately, it wasn't a loss, I was up 6lbs that previous week. So, I lost 3lbs of that, but still up 3 lbs from my lowest weight in the other week!
  • That sounds so delicious! I really do hope you aren't allergic to mushrooms! Mushrooms are one of the few items that are allowed to be sold extra dirty. And they grow in such heavily manured soil, they are extra dirty to begin with! If the restaurant you went to didn't clean the mushrooms before cooking, you certainly…
  • Week 4 weigh in this morning. Not great! Initial : 260 Week 1 : 254 Week 2 : 252 Week 3 : 258 Week 4 : 255 -5lbs down from initial weigh in, so I can't say it's all for naught! But, very frustrated to have gained 3lbs. My boyfriend, however, is doing amazing. He's losing weight very quickly. And he is eating a lot of junk.…
  • Mmm so beautiful! Make two... I'll be right over! ;-)
  • Ooh yeah!! I am just now getting over my chickpea aversion, so I should definitely make that dish soon... I've got a jar of capers just waiting to be used!
  • Yes! So good!! I used to make a mexican taco bake with quinoa back in the day! salsa and cheese and beans. Delicious! My problem with quinoa now... is that about 10 years ago when I first discovered it, I went CRAZY on it. I had it with every meal. I got so burnt out on it, I can't even look at it anymore! I did the same…
  • Indeed! I have a spin bike, and use that when I can for cardio, since I can't run/walk anymore. As for other training, I do weight training, body weight exercises, all the usual stuff! :-)
  • Dinner tonight was a delicious Mexican rice bowl! It is : cilantro lime rice, pinto beans cooked in tomatillo sauce, homemade corn pico de gallo, lettuce, avocado, sour cream, and chili lime hot sauce! I ended up stuffed after less than half. But wow it was delicious!
  • Hi Shans34! Keep an eye out for Beyond Meat's "Beyond Burger". It is unbelievable! They are plant based burgers that mimic ground beef exactly. they even "bleed" when you cook them. Its CRAZY. Would definitely hit that hamburger craving!
  • Thanks for the comment! I believe my metabolism is very low. I've always wanted to have it properly tested, but haven't found a close enough facility yet. I have only ever been able to lose fat by consistently eating below 1000 calories per day. Which is why I think OMAD will work better for me than most "diets" I have…
  • Hi!!! It is SO nice to meet you! We do indeed sound very similar! I am so happy and curious to follow your progress with OMAD.
  • Hahaha that's amazing! And it is SO true. I've been overweight my WHOLE LIFE. And no one has ever asked me about my protein consumption. No one has told me to watch my blood pressure, or check for diabetes. No one was concerned with my health, but the second you become a vegan... everyone is concerned! lol, it is…
  • Thanks so much! I'm happy to hear that you're into being educated about food! I think all the books and documentaries are so interesting! Its awesome for all of us to keep learning, and being open! You should definitely try the cauliflower, it is SO friggin GOOD! :-)
  • Week 3 weigh in today. I am UP 6lbs. I didn't have a great week of eating in general. The first two weeks, my calories have averaged around 800-1,100 per day. This past week, I was around 1,300-1,400 per day. So, still should not be high enough to gain weight. I should actually be losing on that! But, whatevs. I know I…
  • @carmenross that looks super delicious to me!
  • Those are definitely subjective terms. Clean eating typically just means that you're eating as closely to your idea of a "healthy" diet. So, to me clean eating would mean all plant-based, no processed food, high in fiber and low in fat. However, someone else's idea of eating clean could be high fat, strict paleo. As for…
  • I made these unbelievably delicious stuffed mushrooms tonight. Baby bella shrooms, stuffed with a mixture of : spinach, artichoke, beans, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, and spices. Topped with some vegan parmesan shavings. I also ate 3 faux pork chops, a clementine, and a square of baked oatmeal. Just…
  • Oh yeah, same here. Well, I started with a juice fast, and then raw vegan. I lost 85lbs that way. When I switched to LFHC I gained it all back. So, now I just eat a happy balanced medium, count my calories, work out like normal, and we shall see! For me, the OMAD is to help me with binge-eating, which, so far, it is really…
  • Hi!! Nice to meet you! Hooray for veggies! And hooray for carbs, indeed! 30lbs is amazing. I haven't lost any weight by just being vegan (I actually gained, ha!) but I think OMAD is really going to help me get it moving!
  • I love all veggies except bell peppers! Blech! My very faves would be cucumber (though, yes, thats technically a fruit!), onion, lettuce, kale, mushrooms, corn (a grain, but you know, I eat it like a veg!), cabbage, potatoes, squash (of any kind!), asparagus, brussels sprouts, beets, sprouts, celery, radish, seaweed,…
  • Yah!! Thanks! I knew it was aggressive... but that 6lbs gave me a good boost, so I hope I can get there!
  • Thanks! I hadn't been in about 15 years myself! Lots of new restaurants and bakeries since I'd last been. Wish I could have stayed and eaten everything! :-)
  • Ouch, I feel you on the gout, I used to get it, as well. Meat and high-fat items of course are very inflammatory for gout symptoms! There are so many meatless options you can try! I'm not delusional, and won't tell you that so many mock meats taste EXACTLY like the real thing, but in reality, just a couple do. But many…
  • Week two: completed! Weekends are definitely harder, since the boyfriend wants all days of all weekends to be splurge days! Fine for him, but I want to stay on course a little more strictly. I did well this weekend. Here's to another week!
  • My meal today! A gigantic salad from a great restaurant. It normally comes with cashews on it, so I omitted those so that I could have calories for an apricot cupcake from a bakery! Spent the day in Salem (MA) and went to a Witch Dungeon museum! Ha! Fun day, and great eats!
  • Hi! I wanted you to know that I'm going to leave you a thoughtful reply shortly! I want to make sure I have time! I'm happy to offer some alternatives!
  • My meal today! It's splurge day, my first! Breaded vegan "porkchops", artichoke pasta with lemon and garlic, and butternut squash.
  • Oh man @dajoloehr you definitely should seek some out! I loooooove korean food, but bibimbap most of all! It is just one of those magically perfect dishes where everything comes together into a glorious combination of filling, soul-satisfying awesome!
  • Just had my meal out with a friend. I had bibimbap, and that is just my favorite! Really hit the spot, so so filling and only around 760 calories. Enjoyed a nice hot green tea with it. My friend is my old personal trainer, he was so interested to hear about OMAD and my results so far with it! He's been intermittent fasting…
