I've also started tracking my period using an app, in addition to tracking my calories. It helps so much being able to look at where I am in my cycle and how it correlates with changes in my weight.

Don't let this trip you up. The same things happened to me early on. I had gained 6 lbs in 7 days. I happened to have an appointment with my doctor two days later. She was aware that I was struggling to lose weight and said it's likely water retention due to eating more bread than usual. She also suggested it may be near…

I lost weight while taking bupropion and got to my lowest weight ever.

BMI is not always a good indicator of health. She probably is more concerned with your vital health information than comparing your weight to a chart made for insurance purposes.

The truth is you could look perfect and still not ever have other people's approval. Maybe you oughta work on building up your character/interests. When I was anorexic, I could never be thin enough. It took a lot of time and damage to my health (physically and mentally) before I realized that while it's nice to have…

Aww the part about your wife and fam is so sweet! Congrats Jerome, you're awesome. Keep at it!

Since you mention citalopram, specifically, my brother takes it and he's super skinny. And it helps his mental health immensely.

Also, I'd say those 3 kiddos are all the motivation you need to take care of yourself. They need you healthy and happy!

Maybe focus more on your diet. Since exercise isn't needed to lose or maintain weight, if you're putting most of your effort into your diet you don't have to feel guilty about not working out at the gym. Do it when you have time as a bonus to your health regime.

Decaf coffee does actually have some caffeine in it @runningjen74

Green tea! Or other teas. They have small doses of caffeine that help. I recently just stopped drinking coffee and I get all the things I like about drinking coffee (energy, feeling full, cutting cravings) without the downsides (sweating, breakouts, coffee breath).

I have this problem too. And my friends like to go out for dinner and drinks ALL. THE. TIME. I'll go with them occasionally but losing weight is difficult enough without adding in restaurant food. Often times I'll just meet up with them after dinner. I feel better about my health which is my ultimate goal.

@amusedmonkey those are very good points.

Hm these are all helpful. It just seemed to me that if I'm hungry, it's my body's signal that I need calories and that if I'm not hungry, that means my body is in homeostasis and doesn't need a thing atm. So confusing that that isn't how it works. :(
-
You should try not to do that. I was told that as soon as food enters your mouth and saliva starts breaking it down your body is getting calories. So even when you throw up, it isn't possible to throw up all the calories you've eaten. Your body has already absorbed some. (This may or may not be true, I'm not a doctor or…

My mother always told me "My house, my rules" when I didn't like something, regardless of whether or not I agreed with it. In this situation, I would have told them before making any arrangements all the foods I don't allow in the house and if they didn't like it they could choose to stay elsewhere. However, you said you…

Nice! Thanks all, I'm excite to get back at it!

I was on topomax about 4 years ago (not for weight loss). I did lose a lot of weight while on it, about probably 20-30 lbs over two or three months. However, I did experience many other side effects. The "dopiness" is not a myth, that was terrible. I was also very depressed. As someone who is always willing try a new…

Having recovered from anorexia myself what you're doing right now is an incredibly brave, amazing step! It's a smart way to begin recovery too, I wish I had done it that way! Just take your time with it and don't worry about timelines :) you can do it

Thanks everyone for all your replies! I am scheduling an appointment with a dietician my doctor has referred me to so I'll see how it goes. At this point it won't hurt. And like @ebaroldy said, the accountability factor is what I think will help me push a bit more.

I hope so. When I've been working so hard so to everything right and the number just jumps up like that it's unbelievably discouraging. Thank you!
