I remember having to check the weight limit on things like kids' swings, etc. because many were max 200lbs. I was slightly over that and it hurt to know I couldn't play with my kids however, whenever I wanted. Also taking public transportation at my upper weights and feeling like my body was encroaching on the space of…

To see if your friends and family love you, definitely wait for them to call or message you. Playing distant will get you lots of attention.

Wow, fantastic work! I see you have a little motivator there :)

I'm so proud of you! Those small steps are actually HUGE and they're going to add up to something great. Please, don't be afraid to seek a professional boost for your depression, too. All your efforts can be boosted in the hands of the right therapist or doctor. For me, the breaking point that got me moving was actually my…

Oh, also, chocolate chip cookies. I find it hard to stop after one or two.

Pizza for sure. I can't seem to limit myself to one piece, and if it's around I can't say no.

My old navy compression tights are as good in my view as any of the lululemons I ever had. And as for running shirts/workout tops, I can't wear the ones with built in bras so I buy less expensive ones. I will fork out better money for sweaters and jackets, as well as sports bras and running socks.

First day trying anything higher intensity after a cold - 22 minutes of running including a beastly unplanned hill (thanks for the push, construction!)

It's just a mental discipline I had to develop. Now I don't think about it, or let my feelings about willingness to do it govern my actual action. In the beginning stages it was a build-up. Started 3x a week with short, easy workouts and just gradually increased duration/intensity/frequency. I would plan once a week and…

Fair point, thanks. I just went right to the biggest population of fitness tracker wearers I could think of.

Sure, but just refuse to dwell on the suck and the pity. I'm not a very emotionally disciplined person but these days, shutting down the negative feelings about what needs to be done is exactly how I'm getting by. The results will make you happy you persevered. Also, don't deprive yourself to the point of a crash.

For me, sleep hygiene is key. That essentially means cleaning up my routine to support a consistent sleep routine. I have a blue-light blocker on my phone after 7pm. When I am going through a period of sleep disturbance I cut out my phone/laptop use after 8pm. I don't find TV affects me but some do - so decide for yourself…

This gets a standing ovation from me. Really everything you said does, but I didn't want a huge quote block. Self-compassion and self-love has been the number one thing that has moved me to be successful. It takes a LOT of work to deprogram the critical voice in our heads but it can be done - think of how you would treat…

This is a constant at the track where I run. I don't mind so much for two reasons: 1. I am very slow as a runner anyway 2. I usually go on community days when the track access is free. People of all ages and walks of life come - some very fit and able, others with walkers, some with intellectual disabilities and…

I'm a similar boat - lost 46 lbs and have put back on 20 recently. Factors for me were eating like I was still exercising a lot - but in reality I was dealing with illnesses and injuries so activity was greatly reduced. The key now for me getting back on track is to shut down the feelings/judgment component of both the…

I took monthly progress photos in the same outfit, same pose. I found it was easy to see the difference in clothing fit that way, even tiny differences in the way the fabric laid over my body.

I always did so once a week, but when I fell off the scale wagon I saw increases. I'll be trying daily to re-establish the habit and keep accountable. I started today.

She could have left it as "Why do we care?" instead of "It won't be awesome if she gets diabetes". Health judgments/assumptions don't belong.

I like to park in a shopping area and then walk to each stop/store instead of taking my car around. Taking transit instead of cars usually increases walking by default as well.

New Balance has been great for my former plantar fasciitis. in fact, no symptoms at all since I started running in NB. They are cushy and wonderful.

My body looked softer/bigger even for the same weight, I felt flabbier. I developed recurring issues with my SI joints because I let my core strength go. I have regrets!

First, let's differentiate between body positivity and fat acceptance movements - they are different. Body positivism is more of a, "You have a body that is worthy in any shape and/or form" thing. So, short/tall, skinny/slim/chubby/overweight/muscular/lanky/mombod/dadbod/hairy/not hairy etc. Fat acceptance is a movement…

Some thoughts: 1. Commit to two straight weekends of proper tracking/sticking to your goal. Give yourself a little reward that you can buy yourself if you succeed. See how that goes. 2. Pre-plan your meals/food for the weekends on Thursday so you have something ready instead of spur of the moment decisions. 3. Forgo…

Brooks "Juno". It is pullover but still has hooks at the back. It also has straps that adjust with velcro at the front, so you can undo and breastfeed without taking the whole bra out. I have a larger chest and was also breastfeeding for a long time, and this bra was perfection and high-impact enough for running.
