  • Thanks for sharing. I am also working to reverse diabetes. I have stopped taking the meds. Doing low carb. Still prediabetic tho. stuck in a weight loss plateau. tweaking things here and there. not giving up. Even holding steady is a win. I'd appreciate any suggestions of things to try. You are an inspiration.
  • Smoked salmon on toast, bean tacos, chorizo and eggs, chorizo and beans, currently I am having a large coffee with 4 tbs of heavy cream at 200 cals a pop and calling it breakfast.
  • I would suggest a fancy scale that measures BMI, Fat percentage, water percentage and muscle percentage. That way you can see if it is muscle gain or water
  • OMG this is my biggest issue. I crave snacks at night, mostly salty since I kicked sugar. I have things like sugar free chocolate chips (stevia) and nuts but I start with herbal tea, chammomile or lemon grass. And finding something to keep me busy. I work out after work so maybe that's a reason I crave the salt. I try to…
  • I cut out sugar, I try to stay at 20 net carbs or so. that's carbs from nuts or vegetables, low sugar fruits. I avoid the simple sugars that would spike my blood sugar such as sugar, honey, pineapples, -- different sources but still same effect. I use stevia and other sweeteners that don't affect my blood sugar.
  • Hi, there's a lot more information now a days and I like to read a lot so I can better evaluate the questionable advice out there. I think 40lbs in 9 months is reasonable. I have been doing keto to address my blood sugar and I like it because it keeps me full and it's easier to eat less calories. I've lost 20lbs and it's 3…
  • Hi, I have been doing keto for 2 plus months. I started right around Halloween. I have lost weight and I am off my diabetes medications. I eat a lot of those Costco chickens and 5 guys hamburgers in a bowl. I miss sourdough bread once in while.
  • Have you tried a macro calculator? I am doing a ketogenic diet and I restrict carbs to 20 net a day. I have been losing slowly but steadily. My goal was to address high blood sugar. If you have dieted before where you restricted severely the body can ratchet down the metabolism where it won't burn fat efficiently. You…
  • You might want to spend some time learning about nutrition. "Eggs cause high cholesterol" is not accurate and there is a lot of misinformation out there. There are youtube videos by Dr. Fung on reversing diabetes and others that are straightforward and very helpful in steering you in the right direction.
  • I have been doing keto for a couple of months. I am down 20 but it's slow and steady. If you are in ketosis you could try a fast for a few days or intermittent fasting to drop weight quicker. It's easier in keto because you are already in fat burning mode from restricting carbs and loading up on fat so you aren't as…
  • I am not familiar with the 5:2 diet but lowering the carbs is definitely the way to go to address blood sugar. I was diagnosed a year ago. I am not good at taking my meds so I decided to try Keto to address the blood sugar issues. So far it is working and I feel good. I have lost 5lbs since I started tracking my weight…
  • 10 pounds! that's great. I started out with 55 pounds to lose. now it's 46 left to lose. But my primary goal is to reverse my diabetes. The weight loss is necessary to accomplish that. I love using the food tracker. It counts all the calories and fat etc. If you stall you can review it to help figure out why. I do zumba…
